Present day
Agroan rumbled in my throat as I rolled over onto my back, looking at the stars.
They felt like home. I remembered lying against the soft mossy earth next to Summer all those years ago.
The nights were ours and no one else. We laughed and played together.
There wasn’t an expectation to manage with her; we were just two kids.
It changed when Midas’ parties started. That was when I realized things would be very different.
I had to get up. I couldn’t risk staying here and dying, but as I looked out at the shapes in the sky, I thought it best to close my eyes for just a little while. Yeah, a little nap wouldn’t hurt.
