Chapter 17

Chapter Seventeen

I knock on the Prez’s door and wait. And wait. Finally the wooden door swings open and he motions me inside.

“Come in here before I have to replace all the goddamned tile.”

When I walk in, Skull’s kicked back with his feet on Prez’s desk, a coffee in his hand. “So, you said the only woman you wanted was a quiet virgin huh?”

“Fuck you,” I mutter, knocking his boots off the desk.

“Heard you call her, Chaos,” he says with a grin, putting his boots right back up. “Seems about right, because nothing about kidnapping a rival MC’s daughter is gonna be simple.”

I sit down in the chair next to Skull, ignoring him and take a deep breath. When I exhale I lay it out there. “We’re getting married tonight.”

Prez’s face blanks. Skull sloshes coffee onto the floor.

“What the fuck?” they both say at the same time.

“Married. I need an officiant. But I want a ring on her finger before I meet with her father.”

“Meet. With. Her. Father,” Prez repeats in a tone that could either mean he’s really pissed or in total disbelief. Maybe both.

“Ace found out her father was trying to sell her for five-hundred K. I’m going to buy her.”

“Five-hundred, thousand dollars.” This time it’s Skull sounding like a mocking bird. “You got that kind of cash laying around.”

“I got two-fifty.” I shift my focus to the Prez. “I wanted to see if I can get an advance for the rest while I sell some property. Soon as it closes, I’ll pay the club back.”

Prez drags his hand over his open mouth.

I hold his gaze. “You can loan me the money or not. If you don’t want to that’s fine. I’ll hit that armored truck that moves money for the Russos.”

“Are you fucking crazy?” Skull slams his coffee cup down on the corner of the desk.

“I don’t know, you did some crazy shit for Katie, huh? Love ain’t easy.”

Skull groans, slumping back in his chair. “You’re fucking right about that.”

Prez still hasn’t said a word.

“I understand if this isn’t something you want to be involved in.”

“I have another idea instead.”

By the time I walk out of the office, I’m a new man.

Until I find Gigi in the living room of the clubhouse dancing on one of the tables.
