Chapter 2 Smoke #2
"We should go." Forcing the words out, I offer up my arm and hold back a groan when she immediately wraps her limb around mine. This isn't as good as a hug, but it's still an excuse to feel how soft she is.
Offering her a ride home is something I'm going to do for now. Every shift, she walks to the bus station and hangs around. Anything could happen to her, and without hesitation, the offer of taking my bike was an obvious yes to her.
The idea of getting her on my bike was such a good one that it plagued my mind every second after it crossed it.
When did I become so impulsive? Bunny didn't even question why I already knew how she got home; she only melted at my offer.
"You're not going to get cold or anything without this, are you?" She continues on like everything is normal as we walk through the casino.
Now that I've seen her in my cut, I'm going to be burning hot for a long while. She's got nothing to worry about.
"No." Nodding at a few of the other familiar workers, I try to distract myself by searching if any of them are giving any out of place reactions.
Hard to pay attention when Bunny decides now's the time to slide her hand into mine.
She squeezes my fingers and gives me a smile that doesn't look tight at the corners.
Feels like a smile just for me.
"You know, I've never ridden a motorcycle before.
I'm a little nervous." Continuing on like what she's doing isn't shaking me up on the inside; she acts far too casual as she leans in.
"Also, by the way, you're making it really obvious something's wrong.
You look more like a guard dog ready to bite than a loving boyfriend. "
She's right. If I can feel my scowl digging deeper, I can only imagine how it looks to others. Can't help myself. Not when I know I'm searching for the person who's making her life hell.
Humming in contemplation, I pull my hand away from hers, much to her dismay. I make her squeak softly when I wrap my arm around her waist. Leaning in, her loose hair tickles my nose. I force my mouth to curve upward, just a little. "Is this any better?"
I don't miss the pink that burns hot on her cheeks. Is she uncomfortable?
Yet, she bobs her head in a quick nod. "Much better."
Satisfied with her answer, we head out of the casino and toward the lot. Ace's bike is already long gone, leaving mine all to its lonesome. The air is nippy, and satisfaction twists in my chest as she hugs my cut closer to her.
Tucking her work outfit and heels into the saddlebag before getting on, Bunny fits perfectly against my back before automatically locking her arms around my body. Pressing herself against me, I can feel the race of her heart. Must be really nervous for her first time on a ride.
"I'm a good driver," I offer up, hoping it'll reassure her. As the engine roars to life, her grip on me tightens. "Been riding before Steelwood picked us up."
Probably shouldn't tell her that Ace and I were on the run for the longest time. We'd worked together to get blacklisted at plenty of casinos, and some of them even sent people after us to recollect what they thought we owed.
"I trust you," she calls out, making the thoughts of the past sizzle up on the spot. She then tells me where she lives, and I recognize the apartment complex. With that, we're off.
The entire ride, I'm struggling to focus on the important things. The change of lights and the traffic around me. The chance of someone following us to see if this act is real or not. Rather, I'm too focused on her even breathing against my ear, and the squeeze of her arms.
Never realized how lonely riding a bike was until I had a passenger. Bunny's changing everything for me, and she doesn't even have a clue.
"You'll have to send me your schedule," I call over the rush of wind. "I'll come pick you up every morning, too."
Feeling her hands clutch the front of my shirt, her lips tickle my neck as she tries to get close enough to hear her over the rumble of my bike. "You really won't mind? I don't want to be a pain."
Instead of telling her that I'd want to repeat this night for a lifetime, I'm shaking my head. "I don't mind."
She doesn't reply, but I can almost feel her smile against my shoulders as she rests against me.
Upon reaching her complex, she points out which one is hers. Settling in the parking space in front of a door with a summer-themed reef hanging from a hook, I'm cutting the engine short to avoid any of her neighbors giving her a hard time.
At the loss of her heat, I try not to let out a groan. Distracting myself by stepping away to get her belongings, I notice her sliding my cut off.
"Keep it," I say, the words leaving me in a rush before I can stop them. "I've got a vest I can wear back at home. You keep that for now."
The more she wears it, the more believable this act will be. That's believable enough for her to go along with it, isn't it?
Letting out a delicious-sounding giggle, she nods and accepts the clothes and heels I offer up. Instead of giving a goodbye, her eyes flick to both sides like she's searching for something before settling them on mine.
"It would be weird if I just walked away, wouldn't it?" Tilting her head, she bites her bottom lip like she's trying to hide her amusement. "What if that person is watching now? How would you feel about a goodnight kiss, Smoke?"
She's not serious. I know she's not. Once more, she's trying to get a reaction out of me.
Yet, when my gaze flickers down toward her mouth, I'm not paying attention to her trying not to smirk. Instead, I'm taking in just how plump her lips really are. How kissable they look. Now she's got the idea in my head, and yeah, I want to kiss her.
Stepping toward her and taking away the little space between us, I'm reaching out to cup her face. It takes less than a second for that smirk to disappear. Replacing it is a full blush and a slightly startled look.
"Just one?" I ask, my voice growing raspy. Now that I've got her right here, I don't think it'll be enough.
Despite her expression, she nods her head, and I take it as permission to dip down.
Tilting her head back, I slot my mouth over hers and taste the cherry-flavored gloss she's got on them.
The taste is faded and sweet, but nothing comes to the flavor of her as she immediately parts her lips to let me in.
I've never wanted to kiss a woman more in my life. Hell, the only experience I've got under my belt is from the pitied ones I'd gotten when I'd lost my virginity to a sweetbutt, but I don't think those count. They were nothing like this.
This kiss makes heat scorch my chest and pain throb where the metal teeth of my zipper dig into my cock as it swells from nothing but the shakiness of her breathing as I feel her fingers graze my throat.
If I'm not careful, I'll suggest we spend some time in her apartment too, but that'll make everything complicated, won't it? I can't take advantage of this arrangement. Not even when we part ways to see that her lips are looking swollen and her eyes are glossy in a daze.
"Goodnight, Bunny." Forcing out the words, her brows lift up before she giggles again, this one sounding more breathless.
Grazing her bottom lip with my thumb, I'm forced to take a step back toward my bike while I still have the strength.
"You have my number. Text me. I'll be here when you need me. "
Nodding and hugging her belongings to her chest, she slowly backs up as well. "See you tomorrow."
Returning to my bike, I don't turn it on until she's tucked safely into her home. Taking a look around, I notice the few doorbell cameras on her neighbors' doors and the couple of cameras hanging from the light poles. If Hex can get into those, I can keep an eye on her even when we aren't together.
At the roar of my bike and the hunger clawing deep in my chest, I set my path toward the warehouse in hopes of catching the club's hacker to see if she's still available.
