Chapter 12 #2

He sets his gun down on the bedside table next to a diamond-encrusted watch. “If you take one more step inside this room, I’m not going to let you leave until I’ve punished you for disrespecting me.”

I need to walk away. But instead, I’m shaking with rage as I take another step forward and invade his private space. “You can wave that gun in my face all you want, but I don’t cry.”

He stalks over, reaches behind me and slams the door shut. And locks it. “Well, there’s a first time for everything.”

My heart races as I watch him retreat back toward the dresser. He picks up the gun and holds it casually. “Take off your clothes and get on the bed.”

There’s an odd energy between us—rage, hate, and something else… I don’t think he’ll shoot me, but I absolutely believe he will stick the end of that gun in my mouth. Or even between my legs…

“That’s not happening. Forget it.” I turn around and go for the door when I hear him snap the metal slide.

“Get on the bed, Cherry. Naked. Now.”

I turn around to find him pointing the gun at me now. “Hawk will kill you for this.”

He shrugs. “Nah. I think you put too much stock in your brother’s opinion of you.

Scarrow and I’ve heard the horror stories, sweetheart.

He don’t respect you either. And despite what you think, I don’t take orders from anyone.

” He points the gun at me and then motions again toward the bed.

“But you do. Don’t make me tell you again. ”

Fuck. I take a deep breath and shuffle forward. I glare daggers at him as I slide my pants and shoes off. I want to wipe the fucking smirk off his face so bad. Let me get a hold of that gun and we’ll see how tough he is. I pull my shirt off and start to get on the bed.

He waves the gun in a figure eight pattern at me. “Bra and panties too, mama. I said naked, not scantily clad.”

I blow out another deep breath before unhooking my bra and tossing it to the floor. I slide my panties down and step out of them. “You’re a bastard.”

He licks his lips as he eyes me up and down. “In every sense of the word.” He pulls back the covers and motions for me to get in.

And so I do. Fuck. The sheets are cold, but that’s not why my teeth chatter. He makes me so fucking nervous I could throw up. “So this is how you get laid? By holding women at gunpoint?”

He laughs as he gets on top of me. He reaches above my head and pulls down a set of restraints. After he secures my wrists, he stands up and takes his clothes off. “Nah. I don’t fuck like that.” He slides in next to me but rolls over. “Sweet dreams, mama.”

Oh, fuck. This can’t be happening. He really is a fucking bastard. “What the fuck, Omen? You can’t just leave me like this all night.”

He sighs. “Shhh. Don’t make me gag you too, Cherry.”

“Oh, you’re such an asshole. What if I have to pee?” I feel the panic rising in my chest.

“I guess you’ll have to hold it.”

I let out a frustrated groan. “I hate you so much.”

He shifts his body weight and it shakes the whole mattress. His six-foot, two-hundred pound muscled frame barely fits next to me even in this king size bed. “The feelings mutual, sweetheart,” he drawls.

I lay in the dark, staring up at the ceiling for what seems like hours. Thankfully he doesn’t snore. But I can tell he’s asleep by his heavy breathing. It’s amazing to me that he can pass out so easily with a loaded gun on his pillow and a naked woman tied up in his bed.

I have to remind myself this is how criminals live. It’s been so long since I’ve run around with people like him… Fuck. If I knew back then that this debt would follow me this far, I would have never called Hawk that night. I would’ve figured something else out.

Because now everything I’ve worked so hard for is in jeopardy.

I could lose everything—my bar, my reputation, and even my life.

I shudder as it all sinks in. But despite how freaked out I am to fall asleep, my lids are heavy.

The stress and heightened state of spiked adrenaline has made me so exhausted.

I can’t fight it anymore. I close my eyes and let it all go black…

I don’t know how long I’m out but a noise startles me back awake. Or is it movement? I blink a few times to clear my eyes but it seems even darker in here. I feel a weight on my chest. Oh, fuck. “Omen? What are you doing?”

He’s on top of me, straddling my chest. “Shhh. You’re always so fucking loud.”

The panic rises in my chest again. “Get off me.”

He sighs. “Relax. I told you, I don’t fuck like that.”

I’m confused until I realize that he’s untying me. As soon I’m free, I leap out of bed and stagger toward the door. I realize when I’m halfway there that all my clothes are scattered around his room.

I hear a click and freeze mid-step.

“Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” he rasps.

“I-I thought you didn’t want me in here,” I stammer.

He groans and chucks a T-shirt at me. “It’s late. Put this on and get your ass back in bed.”

This is so fucking toxic. Fuck me. If I had known that I’d be playing this game with him, I wouldn’t have spit in his face. I wouldn’t have come in here in the first place.

Or would I? I’ve always been a magnet for drama.

As soon as I crawl back in, he leans over me. “Give me your wrists.”

I whimper, thinking he’s going to tie me up again, but he rubs them instead. “Quit being a brat.”

I’m confused and really not wanting to think about how soft his fingers are. How gentle he’s being is giving me whiplash. “Why do you hate me so much, Omen?”

“I just do. You piss me off. Now go to sleep.” He turns me on my side and pulls me into his body, spooning me like a boyfriend would.

“Yes, sir.” I don’t know why that comes out of my mouth but it does.

His breath hitches. “Careful, mama. You start being nice now, and I might just fuck you after all.”
