Epilogue
Sabrina
March
“Muffin!” I'm running around the kitchen in my heels, listening to them click and clack over and over as I run behind Muffin, the gorgeous white poodle my husbands got me after our honeymoon in Tahiti, urging the large little troublemaker to move out of the kitchen where all the food I've made today is cooling.
“You need to be out of the kitchen, love!”
“Baby!”
“Yes?”
Parker runs down the stairs and grabs Muffin, carrying her like a toddler with her paws around his neck.
He pets her on the head and down her flank.
It’s almost comedic how she yields to him so quickly.
Meanwhile, my service dog keeps me on my toes.
We are absolutely waiting to have children. “What do you need me to do?”
“Keep her out of the kitchen, please!”
He leans down to kiss me. “Anything else?”
I smooth down my apron. “No, I think I have everything ready. Oh, I cannot wait to meet Niko’s new wife.” I smile up at my gorgeous All-American. “I can’t believe he just went off and married her.”
“Can’t testify against your spouse in court,” he reminds me.
I nod. “Raven and the boys should be arriving soon.”
“Maks, Sasha, and Aleksi are on their way, too.”
“Perfect. I’ll start setting the table. Just… keep her out here for me for now, please. I almost tripped over her twice. It could have been disastrous.”
“You got it.”
I’m almost done setting everything in its place when I hear the front door open and shut, alerting me that Raven’s here.
She’s the only one with the code. She waddles into the kitchen wearing the cutest little lavender sundress, looking oh, so very exhausted, but still so very beautiful.
She takes a seat at one of the barstools by the little breakfast nook, taking Kronos’s leash off and petting his head when he sits beside her, placing his chin on her knee because it no longer fits on her thigh.
“Need… help?” she asks so quietly, her brown eyes sweeping from left to right, watching me move about.
“No, darling, you rest. I seem to have the fits. I'm so nervous. This is my first official dinner party as a Mafia Don’s wife. But also, I don't always do well meeting new people.” I bite at the cuticles of my thumb. “It takes a bit to like me, and… I just want everything to go perfectly for once.”
Raven smiles at me. “I loved you… immediately.”
Tears spring into my eyes and I huff out a laugh. “Yes, well, it’s different when you meet your soul-sibling. I loved you immediately, too, by the way. Knew you were mine by the way you handled that twat, Ashleigh, the day you moved into the sorority house.”
We hear the door open and close, and I grab the pan of beef wellingtons I prepared for tonight.
“That must be Maksim.” Raven follows me to the dining room where the rest of the food is waiting.
Once I’m done, we go to the living room and I greet Maksim with a kiss.
Then cheek kisses for Sasha and Aleksi, even though he has to practically bow to me to reach said cheek.
We sit around on the sofas, enjoying company while waiting on Niko and his new wife when there’s a knock on the door.
Aleksi is practically bouncing in his spot on the sofa. “She’s here!” he grins so wide, and his energy is quite concerning. I’ve never seen him so thrilled.
“Are you alright?” I query.
“This is the best day of my life, Boss Lady.”
Parker and Maksim stand up, but Maksi heads to the door.
“Hiya, sorry we’re late. There was traffic. I… ahhh shit.”
I hear a slight sloshing sound and peek over at Raven, who is currently leaking what I truly hope is amniotic fluid onto the floorboards. Her brows draw up apologetically, hands on her tummy as her men go crazy, and she grimaces.
Kronos and Muffin bark wildly, causing me to look back at the commotion to see a familiar face in the dimly lit foyer. I sigh heavily. “Oh, cockwombles.”
Parker rushes at Niko. “You motherfucker!” He throws a punch so hard I hear the crack of a bone breaking. “THAT’S MY SISTER!”
The End.
