When A Seemingly Small, Harmless, Decision Snowballs

It’s Emma, back for another episode of From The Stands, With Love.
Today we’re talking about how tiny decisions that seem completely harmless, even helpful at the time, can snowball into a full-blown avalanche.
You know the kind. A small favor for a friend. A little white lie. One impulsive move you thought would solve an immediate problem.
At the time, it feels like no big deal.
But before you know it, that single decision picks up speed, gathers momentum, and suddenly you’re buried. Digging yourself out with a teaspoon when what you need is a shovel.
In hockey terms, it’s like pinching at the blue line when you’re already down a goal. It seems like the right play, but one step too far and you’re caught out of position watching the puck go into your own net.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot in matchmaking lately.
Sometimes you jump in to help someone you care about. Maybe they’re uncomfortable, or lonely, and you tell yourself it’s just a small thing. Not a big deal.
But then it snowballs.
Lines blur. Feelings get involved. Families start asking questions. And suddenly you're in deeper than you ever intended. The hardest part isn’t even digging yourself out…it’s admitting what you truly wanted in the first place.
