Epilogue
Katey
One Year Later
“T his is nice.” A party raged inside and outside the clubhouse, celebrating Gio and Harper’s marriage. Music blared and conversation buzzed but it was a blur because Sniper and I were a few hundred yards away from everyone, laying on a blanket and staring up at the stars.
It was something I did often now that I felt safe to do so. Even though the lights of Las Vegas often made it impossible to see the starry sky, whenever I could see them, I made an effort to unwind under the stars.
“It’s perfect.” Sniper took my hand and brought it to his lips, brushing the softest kiss against my knuckles. “It’s surprisingly peaceful.”
I laughed. “It really is.” Peace was something neither of us had a lot of in our lives, so we savored moments like this. “I’ve felt more peace in my life and my heart since I met you.”
Sniper turned on his side to face me, wrapping one arm around my waist. “I love it when you get all sappy on me.”
I turned to face him with a big smile on my face. “I know you do, but it’s true. Whenever I see you, I get excited and happy and yeah, really horny too. But you are my peace, Sniper. Being with you means I feel safe feeling whatever I feel. Even sappy.” I leaned closer and pressed my lips to his. “I love you. Have I told you that lately?”
“This morning,” he growled. “But my face was buried deep in your pussy, so I took it with a grain of salt.”
Laughter exploded out of me. “Oh I definitely meant it.”
“And I’ll never get tired of hearing you say it. Or moan my name.” He smiled at me, but it faded into a more serious expression. His green eyes darkened as his fingertips danced circles on my hip.
“What’s on your mind Sniper?”
“You,” he sighed. “It’s always you.” He brushed another soft kiss against my lips. “I love you, Katey.”
I licked my lips, fully ready to ravage this man right here under the stars while our friends partied in the distance. “I know. I feel it every day.”
“Marry me.” It was two simple words, unexpected and amazing.
My entire being froze, even my heart, as I propped up on my forearm and stared at the man who held my heart. I had so many questions but the words that came out of my mouth shocked me. “We’re already married.”
His lips twitched but his expression remained serious. “We’re married now because we had to be to keep you safe. I want you to be married to me because you want to be. Because there’s no place else on this whole fucking planet you want to be more that at my side, in my life and in my bed.”
“Wow.” He wasn’t a romantic man but dammit those were the exact perfect words for the moment.
“Wow isn’t an answer, babe.” He cupped the side of my face and brushed his thumb along my cheek and down to my jaw. “I want you to marry me because you want me and love me, not because you need me.”
“But I do need you, Sniper. I need you because you have my heart in your hands. I need you because I’m better and more confident with you. I need you because you’re it for me. I need you just as much as I want you.” I watched as my words sank in and his face reddened.
“Katey,” he growled.
“I love you, mind and body and heart. I love you and I need you and I want you. Badly. Yes, I will marry you because I love you. Okay?”
“You’ll marry me. Vows and a new ring?”
I nodded. “I’ll even wear a dress.”
“I can’t fuckin’ wait. Love you,” he said before his lips crashed down on my mine, kissing me the way he always did, with his whole heart.
Never in my life had I ever felt more loved, more worshipped than being with Sniper. I spent a year running from a biker and that led me right into the arms of the man who showed me that not all bikers, not all tough guys are the same.
I rarely thought about Ethan these days except a nightmare here and there. He was my past, a part of my life I wouldn’t forget, but the hell he put me through led me to paradise and the kind of love I only ever dreamed about.
The first time we married because we had to.
The second time we married because we couldn’t live without each other.
