Chapter 3 Becca
Ilifted my hand and rapped lightly on the door, knowing that Hades was inside his office, and unsure if he had company.
And by company, I meant the club bunny type.
“Come in.”
I slipped inside, closing the door behind me as I saw Grave, his V.P.
He sat on a leather couch while Hades remained behind his desk.
Diesel, the Sergeant at Arms, leaned against the wall, facing me.
His dark gaze swept over me from head to toe, not bothering to disguise his appreciation.
He never pretended that he wasn’t attracted to me.
Unlike Void.
Diesel never acted on it. But he didn’t lie or lead me along either. Of course, he still went after pussy in the club, so he was on my shit list for fucking anything with a vagina in the vicinity of the clubhouse.
I sent a glare in his direction, and he grinned widely.
“Hey, sweet girl. What you need?” Hades had a gruff, no-bullshit tone with everyone but me. It softened when he spoke to me and always made me feel special.
“Can we talk?” I glanced at Grave and Diesel. “Alone.”
“Sure.” He ticked his chin at his officers. “Get lost, fuckers.”
They both chuckled, leaving us as they moved toward the door. Grave gave me a chin lift and left without a word.
Diesel licked his lips. “You okay? No one bothering you?”
“It’s nothing like that.”
He nodded. “Okay, princess.” For a second, Diesel lingered like he had more to say.
Diesel always called me princess, a nickname that seemed half praise and half insult.
When we were alone, I turned to Hades and sighed, taking a seat in front of his desk. “I had a dream.”
His brow arched. “What type of dream?”
“The kind that lets me know trouble is coming.” I watched his reaction as I spoke, wondering if my suspicions were true. I had been seeing a lot more of Diesel and Revenant lately. Some of the prospects, too. “Something feels off.”
Hades sat back, crossing his arms over his chest. He was a big man, muscled, hard lines, veins visible, and had that Daddy Dom aura down to a fine science. He would make some woman damn happy to have him between her thighs when he finally settled down.
I had never been interested in or attracted to him in that way.
Did I joke about it with my best friend Sydney?
Oh yeah. Lots of times. But I thought of him as a father figure long before my dad died.
He was the one person I could go to for advice without judgment or ridicule.
He never made me feel stupid or unwelcome.
Hades was a good man, even if he was an outlaw.
“You know your dad used to have dreams like that,” he reminded me. “Strange shit. He had a sense about things. Always knew when shit was about to go down.”
“He did,” I agreed. “Now I’m worried something is about to happen. What if I can sense it like he did?”
Hades dropped his arms. “Sweet girl, you don’t need to worry. There’s a whole club of bikers who have got your back. You’re one of us, and we protect our family.”
“I know that, Hades.”
“Then what’s the matter?”
“I don’t know.” I slumped back against the seat. “Just feels off. Like, there’s something I’m missing.”
His stare was intense. “You need to relax. Come to the clubhouse tonight. A few of the Graven Bastards are visiting. It’ll be fun.” He winked, and a genuine smile appeared.
“Yeah. Might not be a bad idea.”
“Void, Revenant, and Diesel will all be here,” he added, watching my reaction.
“Don’t,” I warned him.
He shrugged. “Go after what you want, sweet girl. Life is too fucking short.”
I stood, and Hades called me over, hugging me close before he dropped a kiss on top of my head.
“If any of those assholes piss you off, you have my permission to fuck them up.”
“Right,” I laughed.
“What? They would never raise a finger against you. Might as well use it to your advantage.”
“I’ll consider it.”
“Good. Run along. Got some shit to sort out.”
I walked toward the door. As my hand wrapped around the knob, he spoke one last time.
“Love you, Becca. Like you were my own.”
I met his serious gaze. “I know. Feel the same about you.”
Before either of us could get mushy about it, I left.
Diesel, as I suspected, waited for me outside in the hall. “Hey.”
“What are you up to? A little light stalking?” I asked, joking with him.
His mouth quirked into a salacious grin. “Nah, I leave that to Void.”
No shit. He was a hell of a hacker. I knew he had cameras all over the town, including the clubhouse and outside the house we shared. I was still pissed for finding out he had cameras in my room.
“Ha.”
He lifted a hand and tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear. “There’s a party tonight.”
“I know. Hades said I should come.”
He blinked in surprise. “Good. You want me to pick you up?”
“I’ll probably ride with Void, but thanks.” It made sense that we’d carpool since we lived together. Besides, I wouldn’t have to worry about driving or wrecking my car.
“Then I’ll see you later, beautiful.”
“Yeah, you will,” I promised, hoping he loosened up a bit and maybe we’d both finally see if this attraction between us had any substance.
ABOUT TWO HOURS BEFORE the party, I realized I couldn’t go with Void because I was still pissed at him. He never apologized for putting those damn cameras in my room without permission. Now I had to figure out transportation.
It seemed desperate to contact Diesel, so I dialed Revenant’s number.
He answered on the second ring. “Hey, B. B.”
The nickname began years ago, but I never knew what it meant, and Revenant refused to tell me. He seemed amused by it when I tried, so I stopped asking him to explain it.
“You going to the clubhouse tonight?”
“Yeah. You need a ride?”
I could hear the tattoo gun and knew he was working. “Please. I don’t want to go with Void.”
“Hell, you should have said that first,” he laughed. “I’ll swing by once I finish this customer’s ink.”
“Thanks, Rev.”
He ended the call, and I walked to my closet, trying to find an outfit that fit both my mood and the possible excitement for tonight. I waited long enough to find out if Revenant or Diesel would make a move. Maybe if I kissed them first, the guys wouldn’t be able to resist me.
I had a feeling they hesitated because of Hades. Earlier today, he told me to go after what I wanted, and right now, that was Revenant and Diesel.
Void could kiss my ass.
An hour later, I was finishing up my hair and makeup, fresh out of the shower, and already dressed. It didn’t surprise me that Void entered my room, assuming I was leaving with him.
His gaze slithered over me as he entered, widened, and then he scowled. “What the fuck are you wearing?”
I’d chosen one of my favorite black leather corsets that barely concealed my breasts, cinched at my waist, and showed off the ink on my bare shoulders.
Black boots that reached my knees with a sexy heel.
And then a skirt made of black tulle and ruffled layers with a split up the side that nearly reached my hip.
It made me feel daring, beautiful, and irresistible.
“Why do you care?” I asked, picking up the black choker I’d chosen to complete the outfit.
“Becca.”
“No, Void. You lost the ability to say shit to me when you chose to violate my trust.”
“Fo fuck’s sake.” He stalked up to me, spun me around, and leaned in close. “Your tits are practically falling out.”
“So? Maybe I want someone to appreciate them.”
His jaw locked.
“And if you can watch me whenever you want without my permission, what’s the difference if I show them off at a party?”
His palms rested on the edge of the sink as his body rested flush against mine. “Feel that?”
I did. He was hard. For me.
It wasn’t the first time I felt it, but he never said a word until now.
“You’re mine to protect, Becca.”
“And what else?” I challenged, wanting to knock that smirk off his face. “Yours to watch? Masturbate to? Fuck?”
He dropped his head close to my ear, his words a deliciously dark whisper. “If you want.”
“But we’re brother and sister.”
He pulled back and placed a few inches between us. “No, we’re fucking not, Becca.”
“Since you don’t care about me or my privacy, it doesn’t matter.”
“Are you fucking serious?”
“Leave me alone, Void. You do your thing, I’ll do mine.” I poked a finger in his chest. “Stay out of my room. No cameras. No following me.”
“I can’t do that.”
I shoved him away from me, blinking back tears. He frustrated me because he could never just say what he meant. This push-and-pull between us had been going on for months. Just once, I wanted him to tell me how he felt. No bullshit. No hesitation.
“Revenant is picking me up. Move, Void.”
He sighed. “Fine. I’ll see you at the clubhouse.”
I didn’t answer as he stepped aside, scooping up my purse and slipping it crossbody style over my chest. The silver chain strap matched the buckles and details on my corset. Inside, I had my lip gloss, cash, debit card, license, and house key.
Someone rang the doorbell, and I knew it was Revenant. I rushed out of my room and down the stairs, wondering why Revenant didn’t just come into the house like he usually did. Opening the door, I found him holding a blood-red rose with a black ribbon.
He wore a dark gray shirt under his cut, the black leather matching the pants he wore. Shitkicker boots. A panty-melting grin. Dark ink covered most of his arms, chest, and shoulders. He loved to wear hats, but he’d skipped one tonight.
“Hey, B. B.” His pale green eyes roamed over me from head to toe, lingering on every curve before finally lifting. “Lookin’ damn good, baby.”
“Thank you.”
“Got you this, but I think it pales in comparison to you.” He handed me the rose. “Don’t worry. I removed the thorns.”
“That was thoughtful. Thanks.”
“You sure you want to go out? I could stay inside and find lots of things to occupy our time.”
Wow. Revenant was always so cool, almost detached. Calm. Focused. Seeing him like this, so confident and flirty, sent a sliver of anticipation along my spine.
“I do, but,” I hesitated, “I might take you up on that later.”
His grin turned almost lecherous.
Before he could speak, Void exited the house, locked the door behind me, and gestured to the driveway. “Took fucking cold to stand around. Let’s go.”
Revenant licked his lips before he reached for my hand. I took as he led us toward his truck. “Glad I didn’t bring my bike. You never could have ridden in that skirt.”
“I would have found a way,” I laughed with a wink.
“Yeah, baby. I think you would have.”
Void made a sound of disgust in his throat and stomped toward the garage. He opened it, went straight to his Harley, started the engine, and left without acknowledging us.
Maybe he should think about not being an asshole if he didn’t like it when I was mad at him.
“It’s getting chilly. Come on. I need to get the heater on for you.”
Revenant opened the passenger side door, and I sat on the seat, pulling my skirt inside so it didn’t get stuck in the door as he shut it. There wasn’t a reason to worry. He had it covered, already, watching for fabric as he closed me in.
Once he started the truck and cranked the heat, I relaxed against the seat.
“Don’t worry about Void. He’ll get over it.”
“I know.” That was the problem.
“I don’t want to talk about him anymore.”
“Good. Me either. I’d rather have all my focus on you.”
That sounded perfect.
