You guys have only seen Devyani's POV. Just because I'm showing her pain doesn't mean Rivan didn't suffer. ??

Sometimes the one who stays silent is carrying the heaviest burden.

Before judging him, wait until you know his side of the story. Trust me... you'll look at him very differently. ???

Devyani's smirk slowly widened.

For a few seconds, she simply stood there staring at RIVAN. The silence between them stretched longer and longer, making him uncomfortable. That alone was enough to make her happy.

Then, without saying a word, she calmly bent down beside her bed.

RIVAN wasn't paying attention at first. His eyes were still on her face, trying to figure out what exactly she was planning. Every time she smiled like this, his life expectancy decreased.

She opened the drawer.

Still, he didn't care.

Then she reached inside.

Still nothing.

And then she pulled out a gun.

A real gun.

For the first time that night, RIVAN forgot how to breathe.

His eyes widened so much that Devyani almost laughed right there.

He blinked once.

Then twice.

Then three times.

Then he looked again.

Surely that wasn't a gun.

Maybe it was a fancy lighter.

Maybe it was a toy.

Maybe London had weird decorations.

Maybe he was hallucinating.

But unfortunately, no.

It was definitely a gun.

A very real gun.

And it was currently sitting very comfortably inside Devyani's hand.

The same Devyani who once thought bullets were rechargeable.

The same Devyani who had asked him years ago if guns is a toy.

The same Devyani who got scared hearing balloons burst.

That Devyani.

For a moment, RIVAN genuinely wondered whether he had entered the wrong room.

Devyani noticed every single reaction.

And she enjoyed every second of it.

Slowly, she spun the gun around her finger.

Once.

Twice.

Then caught it perfectly.

RIVAN's soul almost left his body.

Like someone trying not to scare a bomb.

Devyani spun it again.

Caught it again.

And casually shrugged.

RIVAN immediately straightened.

Another spin.

Another catch.

"Put it down."

Devyani looked at him innocently.

RIVAN kept a very careful eye on the gun.

Not on Devyani.

Not on the room.

Not on the balcony.

Only on the gun.

Because at this point he trusted London traffic more than he trusted whatever was going on inside her head.

He cleared his throat.

The word slipped out naturally.

Devyani immediately narrowed her eyes.

RIVAN ignored it.

For a second, Devyani simply stared at him.

Then her mouth slowly fell open.

The sound echoed dramatically through the room.

RIVAN frowned.

She placed a hand over her heart.

Looking genuinely shocked.

"No."

RIVAN blinked.

Her eyes widened dramatically.

RIVAN nodded cautiously.

"Yes."

She looked down at the gun.

Then back at him.

Then back at the gun.

Then back at him again.

The performance was so convincing that for one brief moment

one tiny, microscopic moment

RIVAN genuinely wondered whether she actually didn't know.

Maybe she had forgotten.

Maybe London education had failed.

Maybe she was serious.

Then Devyani gasped loudly.

"Mr. Thakur!"

RIVAN immediately felt nervous.

Whenever she called him Mr. Thakur in that sweet voice, problems followed.

Big problems.

She looked at the gun again.

"It can kill people."

The excitement in her eyes increased.

RIVAN didn't like that reaction.

Not one bit.

In fact, every survival instinct inside him activated immediately.

Then Devyani tilted her head.

A dangerous smile slowly appearing.

Silence.

Absolute silence.

RIVAN stared.

Then blinked.

Then pointed toward himself.

RIVAN looked personally attacked.

Then immediately raised both hands.

Devyani giggled.

The gun remained pointed vaguely in his direction.

RIVAN swallowed.

Very hard.

Then suddenly an idea struck him.

A brilliant idea.

A life-saving idea.

He pointed toward the door.

Devyani blinked.

RIVAN nodded enthusiastically.

"Yes."

The enthusiasm was concerning.

"How about your Reyuuu bhaiya?"

The nickname sounded ridiculous coming from him.

But he continued anyway.

"He deserves it."

Devyani stared.

RIVAN continued.

"Think about it."

He started counting on his fingers.

One finger.

"He threatens me."

Second finger.

"He blocks me."

Third finger.

"He insults me."

Fourth finger.

"He breathes aggressively."

Fifth finger.

"I think science would benefit greatly from testing on him."

Devyani looked horrified.

Then immediately shook her head.

"No no."

RIVAN's hope died.

"No?"

She smiled sweetly.

Far too sweetly.

RIVAN looked betrayed.

Deeply betrayed.

"You left me."

"You left me."

"You left me."

"You left me."

RIVAN sighed.

Fair.

Very fair.

Unfortunately.

Then Devyani slowly lifted the gun.

Directly toward him.

RIVAN's eyes widened.

The barrel moved slightly higher.

RIVAN immediately stood straighter.

His hands remained raised.

The situation was becoming extremely disrespectful.

The gun remained pointed at him.

RIVAN suddenly felt sweat forming.

This was unbelievable.

Absolutely unbelievable.

People feared him across countries.

Entire boardrooms went silent when he entered.

Yet here he was.

Fighting for his life against a five-foot-something woman in pajamas.

Then Devyani narrowed her eyes dramatically.

"Hmm."

RIVAN didn't like that.

Not at all.

"Hmm what?"

"I'm calculating."

"Don't."

"The angle."

"Don't."

"The distance."

"Please don't."

"The possibility."

"PLEASE DON'T."

Devyani looked thoughtful.

Meanwhile RIVAN looked ready to negotiate with the universe.

Then suddenly she took one step forward.

RIVAN took one step backward.

She stepped forward again.

He stepped backward again.

For the next few seconds, the most feared man in the room was slowly retreating while Devyani advanced.

Like a hunter stalking prey.

The sight would've destroyed his reputation forever.

Finally his back hit the wall.

No escape.

No strategy.

No dignity.

Nothing.

Devyani smiled victoriously.

That made her laugh.

A slow sarcastic laugh.

She tilted her head.

RIVAN remained silent.

And that silence was answer enough.

Because honestly?

A part of him did.

Not intentionally.

Not consciously.

But somewhere inside his head, he had expected to find the same innocent girl waiting for him.

The girl who got nervous crossing roads.

The girl who asked endless questions.

The girl who held his arm every time she got scared.

Instead, he found a woman casually spinning a firearm while making fun of him.

Then she pointed toward herself.

The words were calm.

Confident.

Steady.

A pause.

Another pause.

RIVAN looked personally attacked.

Devyani rolled her eyes.

The room became silent again.

For the first time since arriving in London, RIVAN genuinely didn't know what to say.

Because nothing had prepared him for this version of her.

Not the confidence.

Not the attitude.

And definitely not the gun.

His eyes remained fixed on her.

Trying to understand where exactly the transformation happened.

he more he looked at her, the harder it became to connect this woman with the memories inside his head.

And strangely...

The realization didn't upset him.

It made him proud.

Dangerously proud.

The thought slipped into his mind before he could stop it.

A lot.

Unfortunately for him, Devyani noticed that expression immediately.

Her eyes narrowed.

Then suddenly she smiled.

A dangerous smile.

The kind that should legally require warning signs.

RIVAN's instincts activated immediately.

His eyes narrowed.

"What are you planning?"

"Nothing."

"That's a lie."

"No."

"Devyani."

Silence.

"Devyani."

Still silence.

The smile widened.

RIVAN immediately took a step backward.

"No."

"What no?"

"I know that smile."

"You don't."

"I do."

"You don't."

"I absolutely do."

And then

she lifted the gun.

RIVAN froze.

His heartbeat instantly increased.

"Devyani."

No response.

The smile remained.

BANG!

The gunshot exploded through the room.

Something shattered behind him.

RIVAN physically jumped.

Actually jumped.

His soul left his body.

Visited another country.

And came back.

For three full seconds, he couldn't process what happened.

The room became silent.

Painfully silent.

Then very slowly...

Very, very slowly...

He turned around.

A decorative vase near the wall had exploded into pieces.

Glass was everywhere.

The bullet had passed nowhere near him.

Nowhere.

Yet somehow his heart was still trying to escape through his chest.

He slowly turned back toward Devyani.

She was trying not to laugh.

Trying.

And failing miserably.

"You..."

RIVAN pointed at her.

RIVAN placed a hand over his heart.

That was it.

Devyani completely lost control.

She burst into laughter.

The bright sound echoed throughout the room.

And suddenly the tension disappeared.

For a few seconds, neither of them argued.

Neither of them fought.

RIVAN simply stood there staring at her.

Watching her laugh.

Watching her shoulders shake.

Watching tears gather in her eyes from laughing too hard.

And God help him...

He had missed that sound.

More than he wanted to admit.

A lot more.

Finally he ran a hand through his hair and sighed.

Devyani immediately gasped.

Then suddenly Devyani raised the gun once more.

This time directly at him.

RIVAN instantly raised both hands.

Then suddenly Devyani lifted the gun again and pointed it toward him.

RIVAN froze.

A mischievous smirk appeared.

RIVAN blinked.

"What?"

She tilted her head.

For a second silence filled the room.

Then RIVAN immediately raised both hands.

His expression turned reddddd.

Instead she pointed toward the floor.

Without another word, RIVAN slowly lowered himself.

One knee.
