RIVAN stood there without saying a word.

But his fist...

His fist had clenched so tightly that the knuckles turned completely white.

The file in his hand looked seconds away from being torn apart.

Beside him, Reyansh noticed everything.

Every single detail.

And unfortunately

he enjoyed it.

A lot.

A very dangerous smirk appeared on his face.

Meanwhile, completely unaware of the murder taking place from a distance, Zaid finally put Devyani down.

The moment her feet touched the ground, he looked at her dramatically.

"Did you miss me?"

Devyani immediately nodded.

Without hesitation.

"Yeah."

Then she corrected herself.

"A lot."

Zaid placed a hand on his chest.

Touched.

Deeply touched.

"I knew it."

Devyani laughed.

Then pointed at him.

"Do you miss me?"

Zaid looked offended.

"A lot, baby."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Everyone froze.

Payal blinked.

Virendra blinked.

Yashodha blinked.

Even Samarveer stopped drinking his tea.

Baby?

Did he just say baby?

BABY?

Unfortunately...

RIVAN heard it too.

The already dangerous atmosphere somehow became worse.

Much worse.

Aradhya immediately grabbed Payal's arm.

"Oh my God."

Her eyes were shining with excitement.

"Yahan baby-baby chal raha hai..."

She pointed toward Devyani and Zaid.

"...aur wahan bhaiyya ki jal rahi hogi."

(And over there brother must be burning alive.)

Payal immediately covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing.

Aradhya wasn't done.

"Oh my God."

She looked around dramatically.

"This scene needs to be captured."

"Someone get a camera."

"Actually get two."

Jinal instantly smacked her arm.

"Do you all want to die?"

Aradhya pointed toward RIVAN.

"Look at him!"

"No."

"I want to live."

"Then keep quiet."

Aradhya immediately zipped her lips.

For approximately three seconds.

Then she whispered again.

"Worth it."

Meanwhile Reyansh's smirk grew wider.

Much wider.

Because unlike everyone else

he knew exactly what was happening.

And he had zero intentions of helping RIVAN.

Instead he casually walked toward Zaid.

As if nothing was wrong.

As if nobody was mentally preparing a funeral.

Then Reyansh hugged him.

"You came."

Zaid hugged him back.

"Of course."

Reyansh shook his head.

"Thank God."

Zaid looked confused.

"What happened?"

Reyansh immediately pointed toward Devyani.

"She was missing you a lot."

Devyani nodded enthusiastically.

"A lot."

Zaid smiled.

"Awww."

From somewhere behind them

a tree branch snapped.

Everyone slowly turned.

RIVAN stood there.

Still holding the file.

Still silent.

Still expressionless.

The problem was...

Everyone knew RIVAN.

And when he became silent

that was usually more terrifying than when he shouted.

Aradhya immediately whispered again.

"Someone save Zaid."

Payal nodded.

"Agreed."

Rudraksh looked at Zaid.

Then at RIVAN.

Then back at Zaid.

"Poor guy."

Virendra sighed.

Yashodha looked toward the sky.

Praying.

For Zaid.

Only for Zaid.

Because judging by the look in RIVAN's eyes

the man had officially become a problem.

The moment everyone got a proper look at Zaid, it became painfully obvious why Devyani was so excited to see him.

The man looked like trouble.

The expensive kind.

Tall enough to stand out in any crowd.

Broad shoulders.

Perfect posture.

Sharp jawline.

Well-defined features that looked almost unfairly perfect.

His black shirt was rolled up to his elbows, revealing strong forearms, while his fitted trousers and polished shoes made him look effortlessly sophisticated.

Not flashy.

Not loud.

Just naturally attractive.

The kind of man who didn't need to try.

His body was athletic, clearly built through discipline rather than showing off.

And the worst part?

He carried himself with ridiculous confidence.

The kind that came from knowing exactly who he was.

Aradhya stared.

And stared.

And stared.

Then dramatically grabbed Payal's arm.

"Oh my God."

Payal didn't even look at her.

"No."

"Oh my God."

"No."

"I found my husband."

Payal immediately smacked the back of her head.

"Shut up."

"I'm serious."

"You're not."

"I am."

"You're not."

Aradhya placed a hand on her heart.

"Look at him."

"We all are unfortunately."

"He looks like he walked out of a Netflix series."

Payal rolled her eyes.

Meanwhile, Rudraksh looked at Zaid and nodded.

"Okay, fair."

Meanwhile

the source of everyone's attention remained completely unaware.

Or maybe he was aware.

And enjoying it.

Because Zaid casually walked beside Devyani.

Talking.

Laughing.

Comfortable.

Very comfortable.

And every second of that comfort was slowly destroying someone's peace.

RIVAN's.

The man remained standing near the entrance.

Silent.

Watching.

Observing.

Calculating.

Possibly planning crimes.

Nobody knew.

Then came strike number one.

Zaid looked at Devyani.

"You lost weight."

Devyani nodded proudly.

"I know."

"You look healthier."

"Thank you."

"And taller."

Devyani laughed.

"I didn't grow taller."

"You definitely did."

"I didn't."

"You did."

Both smiling.

Both laughing.

Meanwhile

RIVAN looked ready to sue somebody.

Aradhya noticed.

And immediately whispered,

"Oh he's dying."

Payal nodded.

"He is."

Then came strike number two.

Zaid suddenly reached forward and removed a leaf stuck in Devyani's hair.

Naturally.

Casually.

Like it wasn't a big deal.

To everyone else it wasn't.

To RIVAN?

It was a declaration of war.

His jaw clenched.

Hard.

The garden temperature dropped another five degrees.

Rudraksh quietly stepped away from him.

Again.

Survival instinct.

Then came strike number three.

The deadliest one.

Everyone settled around the outdoor seating area.

Conversations started.

Tea was served.

Snacks arrived.

And naturally

Devyani sat beside Zaid.

Not across.

Not somewhere else.

Beside him.

Very beside him.

Then the traitor offered her a piece of cake.

And Devyani accepted it.

Without hesitation.

Without fear.

Without thinking.

RIVAN looked personally betrayed.

Aradhya saw everything.

Every single thing.

And she was having the time of her life.

"Oh my God."

Payal immediately covered her mouth.

"No."

"Look at bhai."

"I'm trying not to."

"He looks like he wants to bury someone."

"Stop."

"I'm serious."

Then suddenly

Zaid laughed at something Devyani said.

Not a normal laugh.

A genuine one.

And without thinking, he placed his arm around the back of her chair.

Not touching her.

Just resting there.

But that was enough.

More than enough.

RIVAN POV

I stand there frozen, my entire body locked in place like a statue carved from pure rage.

The world around me blurs, tunnels, until all I can see is her Devyani, my Devyani nestled in the arms of some stranger.

Some fucking nobody.

My fists clench so tight my nails bite into my palms, drawing blood, but I don't feel it. I can't feel anything except the white-hot inferno blazing in my chest.

Who the fuck is this bastard? My mind races, a thousand violent thoughts colliding.

I'm going to kill him.

I swear on everything I am, I'm going to rip his arms off for touching what's mine.

My wife. My kitten.

No. I grit my teeth so hard my jaw aches. She's not my wife anymore. I gave her the divorce papers myself, signed them with a hand that shook so badly I could barely hold the pen.

But that doesn't matter.

It doesn't fucking matter because she's mine.

She'll always be mine, and no amount of legal bullshit will change that.

I watch, my blood boiling, as that smug bastard reaches out and gently plucks a tiny leaf from Devyani's hair.

His fingers linger, brushing against those silky strands I know better than my own heartbeat. The intimacy of the gesture makes my vision go red. How dare he? How fucking dare he touch her like that?

And then she settles beside him. So casually. So naturally. Like she belongs there.

Like she's done it a thousand times before.

My heart stops, then slams against my ribs so hard I think it might crack them.

Inhale.

Exhale.

I force myself to breathe, but each breath is a knife in my lungs.

Inhale.

Exhale.

The mantra does nothing.

I HATE this. I hate this so fucking much.

I hate seeing her with someone else.

And most of all, I hate that it's not me she's smiling at.

My feet move before my brain can catch up, carrying me across the garden in long, predatory strides.

The air around me crackles with barely contained fury, and I can feel every pair of eyes in the garden lock onto me. Good. Let them watch. Let them all see what happens when someone tries to take what's mine.

"Rivan, come and sit here," mr Thakur voice cuts through the tension, a desperate attempt to control the situation.

His eyes are wide, pleading, but I don't give a damn about his pleas right now.

Devyani freezes. I see it the way her body goes rigid, the way her smile falters for just a fraction of a second before she masks it. She didn't expect me here.

Of course she didn't. Reyansh ordered me to stay away from this villa, but did he really think that would stop me? Did she really think that would stop me?

But then, Devyani being Devyani, she lifts her chin and meets my gaze head-on.

Those eyes that used to melt for me now hold nothing but defiance. And it cuts deeper than any knife ever could.

"Zaid," she says, her voice sweet as honey and twice as poisonous, "how are you? It's been so long. You didn't even text me."

The words hit me like a physical blow. She's doing this on purpose.
