A classified government program develops a way to transport matter across the universe and brings something living back.

Soon after, a truck hauling a special shipping container overturns and rolls off the highway, releasing an otherworldly horror into rural New England that cannot be contained.

Civilization collapses, and several years later an unidentified man climbs out of the ruins, looking for other survivors and some remaining hope in a silent, emptied landscape.

He moves by night along the rural East Coast, finding the wreckage of American life and meeting monsters that no one else has lived through.

Shaped by the cruelty of this new natural order, he struggles with how little humanity he has left, hoping that anyone still out there has not already become a monster too.
