Chapter Two

Seamus finally set his phone down to look at Shay and his two uncles. “Are we ready then?”

Finn nodded.

Liam also nodded. “Sure am, my boys will meet up with us in Miami.”

Seamus nodded. “As will mine. They figure they will arrive tomorrow morning.”

Liam told them, “I just spoke to Aiden and he told me his dad Colin is wounded but he’s not dead and boy, is he spitting mad about being shot.”

Finn chuckled. “Yes, that sounds about right for Colin. He’s a gas. Sounds like he’ll live to fight another day.”

Arthur returned as he put his phone back in his pocket. He nodded at Shay and said, “My people are standing by. One of them, Timmy O'Rourke, told me something interesting though.”

“What would that be, lad?” Finn glared at him.

Arthur looked at the three men and he sighed hard. “Shanon was in town but she was in hiding. Now that’s something she should be doing but what was interesting was Timmy tells me he thinks she’s hiding from her own army.”

Shay snorted. “That might very well be exactly what she’s doing.”

Finn glanced his way then asked, “And why would that be, son?”

Shay smirked. “We froze her money a few days ago and knowing the type of men she surrounds herself with, they aren’t going to put their lives on the line if they aren’t getting paid.

And yeah, she might owe some of them backpay.

And while she might have money, I doubt she has a whole lot, or at least not the kind of money she needs to keep her army in line.

And these aren’t the kind of men who will give her credit.

No indeed, they are soldiers of fortune types and they want their money.

They are not loyal to her, just to the green.

They will walk away the very minute the money runs out. And that could already be happening.”

Finn leaned his head back and laughed.

Liam looked over at him. “What the hell is so funny?”

Finn lowered his head and wiped his tears away, still laughing.

“I just love karma, don’t you? Shanon thinks she is untouchable.

With her deceit all around and her underhanded ways.

Then now when she needs bodies to stand in front of her, she’ll have none.

Her da is still in prison and one of her brothers is there too.

The other one’s dead, along with her lover and her husband.

It is funny to me that after all her grand plans this witch has no one left.

Plus, she knows we’re coming for her. She’s scrambling for cover right now and I doubt she’ll find a hole big enough to hide in.

To me, all of this is comical. She had plans for our destruction and where did it get her? ”

“To Karmaville!” Liam chuckled too. “And karma is like that one nagging, annoying relative who seems to find you, no matter how hard you try to hide.”

Seamus just shook his head at this summation.

“I’m not sure that this is so funny, uncles.

You have no idea what that little bitch is capable of.

And she has been at this game for a while now.

Made herself rich in the process. She’s gonna come at us with everything she’s got left and it’s not gonna be pretty.

She’s fighting for more than any revenge.

She’s gonna be fighting for the right to live now and that’s gonna bring out the worst she’s got. ”

“Seamus is right, she won’t care about who has to die to keep her alive,” Shay assured them all. “And she doesn’t mind who she has to kill to keep us away. This is gonna be a bloodbath before it’s over and innocents are gonna be killed.”

Finn sat back in his chair and nodded. “I’m aware of all that.” He turned his head and stared at Arthur. “But you see we have an advantage over all that.”

Liam frowned in confusion. “We do?”

“Aye, lad we do, we got the best kind of advantage, one Shanon wouldn’t even guess.” Finn nodded. “In fact, it's Arthur’s kind of people that can get us the most information.”

Arthur nodded. “You want the street people to help locate her and give us the best eye to eye info, is that what you’re saying?”

Finn nodded. “That’s what I’m saying. Can you get your people to watch her?

To follow her wherever she goes. Find out where she’s staying and how many of her men she has left.

We need to know what she’s got and where they are.

We also need to know who it was that pulled the trigger on our brother.

I’m glad he’s on the mend but I need the name of the man or woman who shot him in the first place.

” He snorted, “Hell man, your people are there right on the street and most people just step over them. I’m guilty of doing that my own self, I’m ashamed to say.

But that’s gonna change as soon as we get back home. I will guarantee that.”

Arthur nodded as his throat swelled with pride. “I can do that.”

An hour later...

Everyone boarded Shay’s plane and they all settled down for the flight. After the wheels left the ground, Finn stared out the windows and seeing the plane on top of the clouds he shook his head.

Liam looked over at Finn and asked, “What are you thinking about brother?”

“I never thought I’d see the day I was floating over the clouds. I mean when we all left Boston we drove across the country. My feet never left the earth but now I’m flying over the clouds and it feels a little weird.”

Liam smiled. “Aye, it does. But we flew from New York City down to New Orleans then we flew from Chicago to Portland. It was sure quick. But you are right, my own feet never left the earth until then either. But this is a hell of a long trip to go by vehicle. So I’m happy we can be there in a couple of hours rather than two or three days.

It’s a grand thing, it is. I’m getting too damn old to drive that far. My ass is already thanking me.”

Finn nodded at him. “I hear you brother, I hear you. My ass is thanking me too.”

Seamus shook his head and asked, “Are you all banjaxed? You’re claiming your asses can talk?”

Everyone paused at this joke then they all laughed.

“Not only that,” Seamus added. “Your arses are thanking you? Nah uncles, why would they do that ...I mean you are sitting on them for Pete’s sake.”

Louder laughter.

He went on with his ass-reasoning, “If ya did that to them all the time, they wouldn’t be thankful. Cause some of you have some huge behinds—"

“STOP!” Shay howled with laughter. “I can’t breathe here.” He bent over in his seat.

Now they all brought out their so-called ‘ass’ jokes.

“Why sure. Just remember Seamus...” Liam chuckled. “Behind every smile is a good behind.”

“Right?” Finn nodded. “That's why they call it the seat of happiness.”

Arthur and Shay were both laughing harder now.

Seamus shook his head and warned them, “Don’t encourage these fellas. This is the type of thing they pull on the holidays.”

Arthur and Shay were swiping at their tears of hilarity.

“Like the best view is BEHIND me!”

“For sure. No iffs, just butts.”

“Like I would never leave my ‘assests’ behind, ya know?” Finn asked as he laughed.

“Always ready to ‘rear and shine.’” Liam nodded.

“Why stop? We’re just giving out a crackin’ good vibe,” Finn added.

“See?” Seamus tossed his arms up as he finally joined in, “They’re just kickin’ my ass here.”

They all rolled in laughter now.
