Chapter 58
Carlos
“Maddie, stop rubbing your ass on my dick or you ’bout to make me have your ass singing my name in acapella again,” I whispered against her ear and she blushed.
“Would you stop?” she whispered before she looked around the deck where we were all chilling around the fire pit.
“Nah, baby girl, you stop. I’m serious as fuck. You got me ’bout to bust out these shorts. In fact, hold on.” I slipped my hand between her legs, and just before I could slide my fingers inside her like I planned, she grabbed my wrist and pulled my hand back, looking around again, embarrassed.
Trooper was all cuddled up with Sophie between his legs searching for something on her phone while Story and Alana stood at the deck, leaning against the rail deep in conversation.
Their backs were to us because he had his body pressed against hers while they faced the ocean.
Maddie and I were on one of the chairs tucked away in the corner of the deck.
So none of them were paying attention to us.
“Carlos, please stop,” Maddie said firmly after tilting her head back to look at me.
“Why, man? They ain’t worried about us.” I smirked and she frowned even more, so I decided to play nice. I rested my hands on her stomach and lowered my chin onto her shoulder. “You know I’m wearing your ass out as soon as we get in that room again.”
“Really?” She sucked her teeth and I chuckled.
“Yeah, really. Fuck you thought? It’s been almost a week, baby girl. I don’t think I ever went that long without sliding up in something. Shit, you wanted me to behave, well I did, so now you need to behave and take care of this.”
I thrust up against her ass and she shook her head.
“Is that all you missed?” she pouted and I chuckled.
She knew better, but always wanted me to confirm we were more than just sex. Her ex really had her head all fucked up, but I was cool with that. It was just now my duty to repair anything he’d damaged.
“You really asking me that, Madeline?”
My hand moved to her chin and I forced her head back a little so she was looking up at me. After my lips connected to hers for a brief moment, I looked into her eyes, and with all the seriousness in the world, spoke calmly and clearly so there was no mistaking what I was about to say.
“You know what this is, and I get why you’re constantly questioning, but when you do, it’s like you’re doubting me.
I don’t appreciate that because I’ve never been anything but honest to you.
Do I need sex from you? Hell yeah because that shit is lethal and I can’t get enough, but is that all I need from you?
Hell no. This is more than that and I need you to get that in your head because I’m not going to keep trying to convince you.
Either you believe it or you don’t, aight? ”
She searched my face for a minute before she smiled and placed her hand on my face.
“Okay.”
“Ay, Troop, what time we heading out in the morning?” I yelled across the deck, causing him to open his eyes and look my way. His ass was seconds from being knocked out.
“Shit, early, I guess. That’s up to y’all.” He looked down at Sophie, who laughed.
“Don’t look at me. I’m in no hurry. All I wanted was you here with me, and now I got that,” she said with a shrug.
“We need to get back as soon as we can,” Story said, shooting both me and Trooper a look. I instantly knew what that was about. He still had to deal with Prescott and Trooper still had to find and kill Willis’ snake ass.
“What’s the rush? Can’t we stay for a few days? We’re all here together now,” Alana said, turning to face Story and sliding her arms around his waist.
His expression softened for a second, but went neutral again.
“We can come back. There are a few more things that need to be handled right now. After that, we can come and stay as long as you want.” He kissed her on the forehead and I saw the tension in her body.
She knew something was up, but offered a half smile and nodded to agree.
“So you just inviting yourself to shack up at my spot?” Trooper said with a chuckle.
He was just trying to switch gears with the conversation. I was pretty sure Alana and Sophie still didn’t know about William and Lincoln, and now was not the time.
“Hell yeah I am, son, now act like you got a problem with that,” Story said, making sure to put emphasis on the word son as he looked Trooper’s way with the rest of us.
“Nah, you good. If I got it, you got it,” Troop released with a nod.
“So we taking off when everybody’s up then?”
“Everybody?” Maddie said then looked at me.
“What’s all that?” Sophie questioned.
“He wakes up at the crack of dawn. If it’s up to him, we’ll be on the plane by five,” Maddie said with a frown.
“You damn right, money never sleeps, but you good though. I’m about to put it on your ass, so I’ll let you sleep in tomorrow.” I winked at her and she rolled her eyes. “But we out though. I’ll see you good people in the morning,” I said, nudging Maddie to stand.
After she was on her feet, I was on mine.
“I think that’s it for us too,” Story said, looking down at Alana. I could tell from the look he gave her that she was about to be right where Maddie would be.
“Aight, night y’all,” I said, taking Maddie’s hand and heading toward the door.
“If I ask you something, do you promise to tell the truth?” Maddie asked, propping her chin up on the back of her hand so she could look at me.
Glancing down at my chest, where her hand and head rested, I looked into her eyes.
“Depends on what it is. I’m not saying I’ll lie, but if it’s something I don’t feel you need to know, I just won’t answer you,” I answered truthfully.
I saw her processing my answer before she asked her question.
“Is it safe for us to leave? I mean, not just you guys, but all of us? Well, mostly Sophie and her mom.”
My brows dipped inward as I lifted my head a little from the pillow it rested on to get a better look at her.
“Why you ask that?”
“Because I know that’s why we’re here. I’m sure it has something to do with William, and maybe even Story, but that means it’s about Sophie and her mother being safe.
Trooper loves her and Story loves Alana, so that’s why we’re here.
I just want to know if whatever the problem was is handled, because if not, we can stay.
I can tell from what you guys aren’t saying that something’s going on. ”
I chuckled and lifted my head even more to plant a kiss on her forehead before I let it fall back on the pillow again.
“You don’t need to worry about that.”
“How can I not? She’s my best friend, Carlos.”
“And you just said Trooper loves her enough to keep her safe, so let us worry about that. He got her and I got you. That’s all you need to know.”
“I know you got me. That’s why I asked if Sophie and her mom were safe,” she said with a smug grin.
“Word, you trust me like that?”
“Shouldn’t I? You said that you didn’t like me doubting you, so I trust you will always take care of me.”
“Good, ’cause it’s true. I got you and I mean that.”
“I love you for that.”
“You love me for that or you love me?”
“Same difference,” she responded with a grin.
“No the hell it ain’t. That’s like me saying I love you cause your pussy is lethal. That don’t have the same meaning, Madeline, so clarify for me.”
“I love you.” This time she said it confidently and I saw it in her eyes.
“Aight, bet. That’s what’s up.” I lowered my head again and got comfortable before the palm of her little ass hand landed on the side of my face.
“Yo, the fuck is wrong with you?” I questioned with a grin.
“You are what’s wrong with me, but I’m good, don’t stress.”
She rolled off my body and turned her back to me. I chuckled and moved toward her, pressing my chest against her back and closing her in my arms.
“You got something to get off your chest, baby girl?” I asked before kissing her neck a few times.
Shrugging me off with her shoulder, she answered with a little too much attitude. “Nope, good night. I’m good.”
“You sure? ’Cause you seem like you need to say something.”
“Nope, I said I’m good.”
“Aight, then. Take your spoiled ass to sleep, and for the record, I love you too, even though you be spazzing on my ass.”
Her body relaxed and she was good, so I relaxed too.
“You don’t have to say it just…”
“Man, take your ass to sleep. You already know I ain’t with that shit.”
I kissed her neck again and closed my eyes. The second I’d laid eyes on her, I’d known she was the one who would make me sign on the dotted line.
