Sorrow & Strangers (Avalon University #2)

Prologue

Dear Connor,

It’s been three months. Three months without you. Three months lost to the abyss of my grief. Sometimes I feel like I can still feel you, still hear you, still smell you. The memories linger painfully, yet I cling to them with everything I am.

Nothing is okay anymore. There is no joy, no love, no laughter. There is only the agonizing numbness of your loss.

There is only darkness.

The summer has come and gone. No graduation. No wedding. There was no move-in day. There was no photograph taken of us in front of the house as you carried me over the threshold.

I don’t know how to do this. I don’t know how to be without you, and I don’t want to learn.

Every night I dream of you. I dream of a reality where things went differently. A reality where I died instead of you. You deserved to live. You were the only good thing, and now you’re gone.

And with you, the last spark of my light.

I love you. I’m sorry.
