TREVOR

He’s been on world tours with Boys Will Be Boys. Performed in a different city every night, while also doing interviews and recording new music whenever they weren’t on stage. And yet, after this one Christmas Day, he’s possibly more wiped out than he’s ever been before.

A lot went into planning and coordinating people for the surprise shelter appearances. Especially because he was putting it together at the last minute. And then actually doing it, bringing the food and toys, meeting all the people and singing for them... it was a lot all in one day.

“I can do that,” Skyler says.

Skyler grins and gives the bracelet a twist around his wrist. “A little girl at one of the shelters gave it to me! She was too sweet. I mean, she’s living in this shelter, so I’m sure she doesn’t have much, but she still wanted to share with me.”

“Kids are good like that.”

“I felt bad taking it,” Skyler goes on. “But I also didn’t want to reject her offer of friendship, so I traded her one of my rings.”

Oh geez. Trevor gives him a disbelieving look, and Skyler shrugs.

“It wasn’t a very expensive one.”

Shaking his head, Trevor tells him, “You’re too sweet.”

Skyler shrugs again. “It’s only jewelry. I’d never give away any of the ones you gave me.”

“I know you wouldn’t, baby.”

“I’m just really glad we got to do something nice for all those kids.”

“Me too,” Trevor agrees.

Skyler shakes his entire legs this time, and Trevor obligingly resumes the massage.

When Skyler finishes his hot chocolate, he sets the mug down and moves to cuddle up against Trevor’s chest. Trevor wraps his arm around him, trailing fingers up and down under the sleeve of Skyler’s shirt.

He’d be content with staying exactly like this forever if they could.

“Mmm,” Skyler murmurs softly, as if reading Trevor’s mind. “Feels good to be home.”

Trevor kisses the top of his head, knowing Skyler’s not only talking about being in their house after a long day. He means being under Trevor’s arm. He’s referencing the tattoo of a house that Trevor got in that spot for him all those years ago. When Trevor promised to be his home.

And Trevor’s so proud of the way he was finally able to keep that promise.

“I changed my mind,” Skyler says after a minute, squeezing Trevor around the middle and snuggling in even closer. “I want you to carry me up to bed.”

“Lazy baby,” Trevor teases affectionately. “I thought you were so strong.”

“I am. I’m strong like a superhero. I could still totally carry you. But I figured this way would be good practice for you for when we have kids. So I’m doing you a favor, really.”

The lame attempt at justification makes Trevor chuckle. And he imagines he’ll actually have to fight Skyler for the privilege of carrying their future sleeping children up to bed when the time comes.

He ruffles Skyler’s hair. “All right, we really should get up now. I think we need to shower before bed after all we’ve done today.”

“Hmm, I vote no on that,” Skyler says.

“Come on, baby,” Trevor urges, poking him in the side until Skyler jolts away.

“Okay, okay. But I still expect to be carried.”

Trevor points to the cups on the coffee table. “How about you bring those to the sink, and I’ll go up and turn on the water?”

Skyler eyes him distastefully, then stands with a dramatic sigh. “Ughhh, fine. Less than two years of marriage and he stops giving me whatever I want. Sheesh, what a rip off.”

As Skyler bends down to grab the cups, Trevor smacks his ass. Hard. “Brat.”

Laughing now, Skyler turns around and gives him a kiss. “Go on. I’ll meet you upstairs.”

When Trevor heads for the stairs, Stella gets up from her giant dog bed to follow him. The spoiled girl basically has her own bedroom upstairs, but she’ll still go into theirs at night as long as they’re not having sex too loudly.

This will definitely be a quiet night. Trevor’s dead on his feet as he gets undressed and lets the shower warm up, but he still wants to wash off the day before he gets into bed.

Skyler joins him in the bathroom a minute later.

He lets Trevor strip him and guide him into their large walk-in shower.

Once they’re standing under the rainfall showerhead, Trevor releases a long, tired sigh.

Skyler grabs his own body wash, but Trevor takes it from him and gets to work, lathering the sweet-smelling stuff onto his husband’s skin.

He doesn’t care how tired he is. He always wants to take care of his baby.

After they’re both clean, they step out of the shower and dry each other off, exchanging slow, syrupy kisses as they do it. Then they finally make their way into bed. Stella’s already asleep on her bed in the corner, but Trevor won’t be surprised if he finds her in bed with them when he wakes up.

As Skyler gets settled lying on his side, he scoots his ass backward until he’s pushing up against Trevor’s body.

Taking the hint, Trevor rolls over to spoon him.

And Trevor’s last thought before he falls asleep is that he must be the luckiest man in the world.

Because he gets to end his long days like this, with the love of his life wrapped in his arms.
