Chapter Ten

Deke kicked in the front door and Raine kicked in the back door while Iceman and Bones shattered the big windows and came inside.

Boxer and his men were stunned and didn’t move for a fraction of a moment then they all began to fight the army coming in.

They fought hand to hand and there were grunts and the sound of flesh hitting flesh.

Men screamed as bones broke and the longer the fight went on the more men that fell to the floor.

Suddenly, Deke drew his weapon and held his gun to the back of Virgil’s head.

Bones did the same to Boxer and Iceman did the same to Finn.

The rest of the guys kicked the Falcon men down onto the floor, their guns skittering over the surface.

Deke leaned in close Virgil’s ear and whispered, “You made three mistakes today. First one was when you came to Redemption House to find my wife. Second one was when you had your man snatch her and hurt my son. That was bad enough but the third strike...”

Banger sneered at him. “Yeah, what was my third strike asshole? You ain’t got nothing on me and you fucking know it.”

“Your third strike was when you allowed that little fucker to hit my woman.” Deke growled. “No one touches what’s mine, no one hits what’s mine and no one takes what’s mine. You’re out, motherfucker.” Then Deke pistol whipped him and watched him crumple into a heap on the floor.

Bones did the same to Boxer and Iceman hit Finn.

The other men were held at gunpoint.

Now the Sin’s men all looked across the room.

Cassie wasn’t in the chair, where Amos said she was before.

Deke looked around and saw them.

On the cement floor, Cassie sat on top of a man with a knife to his throat.

Deke shook his head...He should have known.

“Yep...she went Spitfire on him,” Amos stated from next to him.

Frankie chuckled. “That girl is one of a kind.”

Deke walked over to where Cassie was sitting. Then he greeted her, “Babe.”

She knew he stood there but her eyes remained on Rodney.

“Nice to see you, husband.”

“You knew I would be here. Why didn’t you wait?” Deke asked.

She kept smirking as she never moved the knife and a lone drop of blood rolled down Rodney’s neck. “He set me free and planned a very nasty ending for me. I mean I would have waited for you but the jackass here had his own plans. So I had to return the favor.”

“So, are you going to kill him?” Deke asked her.

“I should but he needs to pay for all of this. I heard the party you all had in the other room, but the other men had no idea this punk was gonna turn on them. He played them like a fucking fiddle.”

Rodney growled. “You are a lying bit––”

She ran a soft line with the knife across his throat, shutting him up.

“So what do you want us to do here?” Deke asked.

“I think you can have this Rodney guy, um, taken care of and let the rest of them go? If you will. They never meant for any of this to happen.”

Deke gave her a nod.

The other men had everyone tied up and they all wandered over.

Raine came into the room next.

Bones came in too. He paused and scoffed when he saw Cassie had pinned a man to the floor.

Raine grinned and opened his palm. “Pay up.”

Bones slapped a fifty into his hand as he looked disgusted.

Cassie cocked her head and stared at Rodney. “So you were in on all of it with Robbie, weren’t you?”

He didn’t speak.

“Yeah, and I think this Banger and his friends need to know that you knew where that gold was all this time.”

Raine and Bones came closer.

“Come on Spitfire, you’ve had your fun,” Bones said as he motioned to Rodney. “We got him now.”

Cassie listened to her father in law for once and climbed off. Handing Raine the knife, she stepped toward Deke and then her knees gave way.

Deke gathered her in his arms and carried her out the front door. Cassie hid her face against Deke’s cut and refused to look at anyone on her way out.

When they stepped out of the warehouse, Cassie took a deep breath of the fresh night air and snuggled into Deke’s strong arms.

Looking down at her, he caught her eye. He smiled and Cassie smiled back.

He carried her all the way to his truck and opened the passenger side door.

Setting her carefully on the seat, he thoroughly looked her over.

He reached out and touched her split lip.

“Is this all they did to you?” he asked her quietly.

Cassie shrugged. “Rodney hit me in the office then slapped me here, but now he has a few cuts of his own. How is Sammy doing? Is he alright?”

Deke smiled again. “Yeah, Sammy is okay. He hit his head on the desk but it wasn’t bad. Just a small cut. He’s worried more about you than he was about himself. He cried a little but he’s just like you, a tough little nut.”

“And the other kids?” Cassie worried her lip then she hissed as she broke open the healing skin and fresh blood welled and spilled down her chin.

“Careful baby, you’re bleeding again,” Deke reminded her. “I don’t want the kids to see you bleeding. They are being watched by your Vets.”

Raine stepped up and smiled at her. “Hello, there gorgeous. How you doing? Did they hurt you?”

Cassie shook her head. “No. I’m okay.”

Raine slipped her hand into his and raised it to check out the binding marks on her wrists.

Deke growled.

Cassie raised her other hand and covered his mouth. “Hush babe, they will heal. I’ll be fine. How did you find me so soon? I was going to give you till morning.”

Deke grinned. “Oh, ye of little faith. Amos found that you were missing almost before Rodney got you out of your office. He found Sammy and got him help then he had Frankie already tracking the truck you were in. We were ready to go as soon as we learned where you were.”

“Amos and Frankie?” she whispered as tears flooded her eyes. “I owe them so much already and now I owe them even more.”

Amos came out of the darkness and shook his head.

“Ms. Cassie, you don’t owe us a damn thing, excuse my language.

You took us under your wing and gave us a home when we didn’t have one.

Gave us our dignity back when you let us work on your dream.

You saved our souls from the darkness we were falling into.

This?” He motioned around the area. “You don’t owe us a damn thing for doing the right thing here.

We’re just starting to pay you back, that’s all.

You may belong to Deke but you also belong to us too. ”

Cassie had tears in her eyes as she slid from the seat and wrapped her arms around Amos’ neck.

Amos’ arms came around her and he held her close then he took a step back. “Ok, you saved us first now don’t get me killed.” He glanced over at Deke.

Cassie burst out laughing.

Deke grabbed her from behind and then wrapped his arms around her. “You’re right about one thing Amos,” he grumbled. “She belongs to me but I guess she also belongs to you guys too.”

“Her and her mama are the best things that ever happened to me.” Amos smiled as he nodded his head.
