Chapter 20 #3

“You’re welcome, Hershey, but remember we’re not done.

We still have dinner reservations, so don’t get in here and lay down.

This is a pit stop so we can change clothes,” I lied as I hopped out, rounding the car to get her and grabbing her bags I had set up on the yacht to help celebrate our anniversary.

This time I got maternity clothes since I noticed the twins had my baby growing and glowing.

“Okay, baby. I’ma get dressed upstairs so we can move fast then,” Hollis said as we made our way inside.

I smirked down at her as she switched in front of me.

Hollis thought she was getting a nap. I honestly thought she would’ve fallen asleep on the yacht for a longer time than the hour and half she’d slept.

“You not slick, Hershey, but okay,” I said as she immediately went for the steps with me right behind her, slapping her ass that I loved watching jiggle each time I tapped it. I was tempted to do it again but stopped myself, trying to stay on task.

“Wait, before you head up, let me give you your big gift that I can’t bring with us.” I held out my hand, awaiting hers. Hollis playfully rolled her beautiful brown eyes but of course obliged me.

“Deke, what could you have possibly gotten me? You just gave me a shit ton of…oh my gosh! What the hell is this, Luke?” She gasped as we reached the back door to the patio decorated in a pink Hawaiian theme filled with our friends and family.

“Baby, now how we gon’ celebrate our anniversary without throwing a party.” She turned toward me with tears welling that had me grabbing her face and kissing her tenderly.

“I just can’t believe it. How did you pull this off?”

I chuckled as I opened the door so we could properly greet our guests.

“With a lot of help from our people. Do you know how hard it was to be sneaky around the most nosy person in the world?” I joked, causing her to kiss her teeth.

“Happy anniversary!” people yelled as we made our way further inside.

Hollis clung to my side as we greeted everyone.

“Listen, a lot of y’all were present when me and this gorgeous ass woman next to me made a vow twelve years ago to love, honor, and do life together forever. And y’all also know, well some of y’all know, that it took us a minute to make it back to each other.”

“Too damn long!” Kay’s ass yelled, causing a few chuckles in the crowd.

“Anyways, I, we just want to thank y’all for being here from then to now.

Me especially as y’all witness me recommit my love and soul to my wife by asking her to remarry me.

” I dropped to one knee and the whole party started yelling ooh shit and my God while Hollis covered her mouth as the same tears from minutes ago fell.

“Hollis Shanel Deacon, baby, I meant what I told you at the beginning of our anniversary season. We lost some time, but we got a lifetime to make it up, and a couple of forevers between the two to love each other. Will you do me the honor of marrying me again, Hershey?”

I pulled out a version of the original promise ring I’d given her all those years ago during my prom. She laughed as she sniffled while vigorously, bobbing her head to answer before saying the most precious word to me.

“Yes.” I slid the ring on her finger, kissing it before I grabbed her other hand.

“Thank you, baby. I love you so much, Hershey.” I got up, rushing her mouth, delivering hungry pecks.

“I love you too, Deke.” Of course I couldn’t keep her to myself for long before her sister and friends, Angie included, kidnapped my wife while Shep and Derek came over to congratulate me.

“How you feel, nigga? You got your wife back and about to start the family you always wanted,” Derek asked as we slapped hands.

“Good as hell. Did Callie tell you it’s twins in there? I did that shit, man,” I said, looking over at Hollis who was peeking over at me. I sent an air kiss her way which had her blushing.

“Damn, for real? You ready for that? I mean, all I got is Cami and you see we ain’t repeat that step.”

“Cami not even bad. But hell yeah, I’m ready for life with Hollis. I prayed for all this. Shit, this our first set, if you ask me. We got two more coming,” I said as Hollis made her way back to me.

“I’m not even going to apologize for stealing him back, but since he gave me my gift in front of company, so will I.

See, I was going to wait until I got the official documents in the mail, but since you’re trying to outdo me at my own damn party, I feel like I can show you a sneak peek.

” I laughed as she went for her phone, swiping through a few pictures until she came to a video of just her in her car.

“Luke, before this video even gets started, let me clear something up. No matter what happens, I’m still P till the end.

Taking your last name is only for the twins.

Okay, I’m lying. It’s not just for them; it’s long overdue.

Come with me as I lay the Walker name down and officially take your last name.

” I watched her walk into the BMV and sit for what felt like hours before she got up.

“Hi, my name is Hollis Walker and I need to change my last name to Deacon, my husband’s.”

“I’m glad you finally accepted your fate as my wife and took your proper title.”

“Uht uht, it’s been mine, ’member?” That had me laughing.

“Forever.”
