Chapter 29

Twenty-Nine

Not everyone is going to think I’m pretty. And that’s okay. They’re wrong, though.

—Constance to Wendy

Constance

I was at a huge biker bash, and I wasn’t afraid at all.

My parents were somewhere with Wendy at the same party, and I was looking around for the one man that had been missing from my life for almost a full forty-eight hours.

He’d been really busy processing two bodies.

He’d told me to come here and wait for him, that he’d be here as soon as he could, but that was over an hour and a half ago, and I was getting impatient.

“Looking for someone?”

I turned to find the MC’s president, Denver, standing with his soon-to-be wife, Holly.

Holly waved. “How are the dogs doing?”

“Grumpy and angry,” I answered. “Mom has to feed them through the chute, and they still won’t let anyone close. The owners came out yesterday, and they snarled and snapped at them, too.”

“That’s sad,” she said. “Do you want to come meet the others? I’ll introduce you.”

I looked once more for Odin and didn’t find him.

“Sure,” I replied. “At least until Odin gets here.”

Holly’s eyes sparked as she caught my arm and guided me toward a large table where several women were crowded around.

“Ladies,” Holly said. “This is Constance. She’s new here. Kind of. Constance and Odin are dating. Birdie is dating Creed.” She pointed at a curly-haired brunette. “Creed’s sister is Bernice. You’ve probably met her.” She pointed at Bernice.

“I have.” I smiled.

“Next to Bernice is Charleigh, she works with Birdie at the dog food factory,” Holly continued, pointing at the hard-eyed blonde with aquamarine eyes.

“The one to Charleigh’s right is Ida Bell.

Ida Bell is Boone’s sister and Denver’s niece.

She also is the nanny for Koen’s two children. They’re over there with Koen.”

I looked to where she was pointing to see a large man with two children, chasing them around a swing set.

“Sage is the one to Ida Bell’s left. She’s currently trying to tell herself that she’s not still in love with her husband. Gentry is the sheriff’s deputy that you already met.”

My lips quirked.

“Mabel is beside her. Her husband is Romeo. He’s not a member of the club, but he’s good friends of the rest of the club brothers. Then you have Boone’s wife, Nettie. And Eddy, Nettie’s sister. She’s married to Weaver.”

I shook my head. “That’s a lot of names.”

They all gave a quiet chuckle.

“I never in my life thought that Odin would settle down,” Holly said. “But seems like I was wrong.”

A child’s screech, followed by, “Odin!” had me whipping my head to the side.

Elation coursed through me as I saw Odin eating up the ground between Wendy and him.

My smile was soft as he lifted her up and smacked a kiss on her cheek.

She wrapped her small arms around his shoulder as he spoke quietly to her.

Wendy looked around, eyes searching.

Then she pointed at me and screamed, “There!”

His eyes gleamed as he headed my way.

“I can see it now.”

I peeled my eyes away from Wendy and Odin to look toward Bernice. “What?”

“You two,” she said. “I can see it now. I didn’t before.”

I smiled, even though some sadness seemed to filter into her eyes.

I wondered if she’d had feelings for Odin.

Not that it would matter.

No way in hell would I give him up.

I’d fight her to the death for him.

She smiled, and it finally reached her eyes.

Maybe she wasn’t in love with him. But maybe the idea of him.

“He’s half my heart.”

Before she could reply, Odin arrived.

And swept me right off my feet. “There you are.”

Wendy giggled and pressed a kiss to my cheek right along with Odin on the other side.

“Odin,” she whispered. “Where have you been? Mama Coco said that you were busy cutting up bodies.”

Odin snorted. “Is that right?”

Wendy nodded.

“I kind of was,” Odin admitted.

“Was it fun?”

Odin shrugged. “It was kind of stinky.”

“Like when you cut through a steak? Or when you have to clean up dog poop?” Wendy paused. “Speaking of dog poop. Mama Coco made me clean up all of Peanut’s poop. She said it’s not fun to step in.”

“Your mama’s right,” he promised. “Dog poop stinks.”

“Amen,” Holly interjected. “It’s time to eat. Who’s eating?”

Nettie got up and led the way with her belly. “I’m starving.”

Odin nuzzled my neck. “You hungry?”

I let my eyes do the talking for me as I said, “Starving.”

We snuck away after lunch, finding a quiet corner of the clubhouse to reacquaint ourselves with each other.

“Nice dress,” he mused, letting his fingers trail up the length of my bare thigh.

I’d thought long and hard about what I was going to wear.

It was once again in the mid-seventies. The weather promised to turn hazardous tonight, but right now…

“I wore it for you,” I admitted.

His hand went even higher before stilling completely as the no-underwear thing finally registered.

“You’re not wearing any underwear,” he drawled.

“Nope,” I said.

“We will have to make use of it,” he said, lifting me up by the waist and carrying me even deeper into the corner.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and kissed him hard and fierce.

He kissed me back just as fiercely, his fingers threading into my loose hair.

His fingers bumped my sex as he loosened the belt around his waist.

The belt buckle clinked as he yanked it free.

He pulled his fly open, shoved his underwear down just far enough to free his cock, and aligned it at my entrance.

Then his mouth covered mine as he slowly pushed inside.

I moaned into his mouth.

To be quite truthful, my vagina had needed the recuperation time from his last fucking.

But now I was roaring and ready to go.

I was also wet as hell, anticipation having been dancing along every nerve ending since I’d left the house without underwear earlier.

His cock pushed in, farther and farther, a few millimeters at a time until he was forced to pull back.

He followed this process several more times before he was buried to the hilt.

I panted into his mouth, my body screaming for him to move.

“More.” My lips bumped against his as I spoke.

He started to move, slowly at first to make sure that I was comfortable. When I dug my nails in and cried out for more, he sped up.

His cock filled me with hard, fast thrusts.

Over and over again until I was barreling straight into my orgasm.

“Fuck,” he hissed as he filled me full moments after I came.

I slammed my mouth down on his, swallowing his growl.

He panted against my mouth when I finally allowed him some air, his arms wrapped around me so securely that I knew I’d never go anywhere if he didn’t want me to.

Laughter filtered into our bubble, and he reluctantly put me down on my feet and slid out of me.

I felt the warm rush of his release spill down my thigh.

“I need a bathroom,” I admitted.

“Come to my room,” he said. “I have an attached bath that I share with Black.”

I squeezed his hand. “Why didn’t we just go there in the first place?”

He caught my hand and led me through a large room that had a lot more people in it than I first thought.

My cheeks flushed as we walked through.

“Fuck off,” Odin called to someone that I couldn’t see because I refused to pick my head up.

Laughter followed.

But we were in the hallway by then, and he was tugging me down the longest hallway in the world.

“I’m at the end,” he said.

I kept walking, feeling more and more of him leaking out of me every step that I took.

“Your mom has Wendy for the night?”

“Yes,” I promised.

“Good,” he said. “Not that I don’t adore her, but I’d rather have some one-on-one time with your pussy tonight.”

He pushed the door open to his room, pushed me inside, and slammed the door closed.

Before I could get a good look at this “room” of his, he tore my dress off over my head.

I was left standing there in ballet flat sneakers and nothing else.

He stripped his own clothes off, then tackled me to the bed that was taking up the majority of the space in his room.

Moments later he was sliding his cock right back inside of me.

Right where he belonged.

Two hours later, we finally emerged from his room.

Me in a pair of his sweatpants that were three sizes too big and a sweatshirt that was much the same.

When we got to the fire, there were several other couples already surrounding it.

All the couples were there but Boone and Nettie.

There was only one couple I’d yet to meet.

Even if I didn’t remember the names from the earlier introductions.

“I’m Sorcha,” the older woman said upon seeing me eyeing her.

I smiled. “Constance.”

“It’s nice to officially meet you,” she said. “This one is Major. He’s the one that helped y’all find your place.”

I snapped my fingers. “That’s why y’all sound so familiar.”

Sorcha smiled.

Major squeezed his wife’s hip.

“Your parents left with that cute little kiddo of yours about half an hour ago.” Sorcha paused. “She took your dog.”

Odin and I both laughed.

“She seems quite attached to him,” I agreed. “I think that he’s shared her bed with her the last two nights.”

Odin looked over at me. “He’s not allowed on the furniture.”

My lips thinned.

A truck door slammed, catching all of our attention. Then Black was marching toward us, looking just as exhausted as Odin.

“What’s up, Black?” Major asked when he took a seat.

I got up from Odin’s lap and walked to the food, grabbing a bunch of random shit that was left and then bringing it back to Black with a beer.

He took the food with a muttered thanks, and then I was falling back into Odin’s arms.

Sorcha grinned at the move.

“Long ass day,” Black grumbled. “That kid has a lawyer. They’re saying insanity already.” Black angrily speared a hot dog and brought it up to his lips. “That kid knew exactly what he was doing.”

“I’m sure he did,” I agreed. “Did you learn anything new?”

“Before he lawyered up? No. After he lawyered up, that his mother refuses to pay a single dime. He has a government-appointed lawyer, and nowhere to go if he were to bail out. Which he won’t be.

No one in this town will get him out. Not after learning that he killed those three teens and his dad. Who everyone fuckin’ loved.”

“There are a lot of people already grumbling about a doctor in town,” Mable mused. “What are we going to do?”

I pinched Odin.

He glared.

I pinched him again.

He sighed.

“Odin’s going to do it.”

Everyone paused.

But it was Denver who said, “You’re what?”

Everyone started talking at once.

Surprise was the most common reaction.

But it was Mable who said, “This is fantastic. Odin, will you deliver my child?”

Silence.

Odin frowned. “I don’t think…”

“Of course he will.” I slapped my hand over his mouth. “Just keep your men in line. Odin’s a fucking professional.”

Odin snorted behind my hand.

Romeo grumbled something dark that sounded like “over my dead body.”

“Do you realize that the closest town to here is over an hour and a half away?” she asked. “And sure, there are other doctors that could probably deliver us at the hospital, but I want an established doctor here.”

More grumbling.

“Maybe we can convince an OB to move here…” Odin said.

“There is an OB here,” Mable grumbled. “But she’s not taking any more patients. I’ve tried.”

“Bummer,” I murmured.

Sorcha laughed. “This should be a lot of fun.”
