Chapter 33 #2

She comes on my hand, only stopping briefly for her orgasm before her hips keep up again, rubbing against my fabric-covered fingers.

Thankfully, it's enough to keep her at bay until we finally arrive at Omega’s Comfort, where a whole medical team is waiting.

Omega Protection Services is right behind us.

Hunter and I brief them on what happened as Madi and Alric are rolled into a room. She slips in and out of reality, muttering to herself about knots with a dazed expression. Her wide eyes are terrified as the room fills with people and she clings even tighter to Alric.

I hate that she won’t remember most of the next few days, too lost in her heat to experience how treasured and loved she will be. I want her present and in her right mind.

A doctor arrives. “Hello everyone, my name is Dr. Rose. I’m Miss Hayes’s omega specialist.”

Madi physically relaxes when her doctor arrives and mumbles something about a shot against my chest.

“Madeline, if you can understand me, I’m going to give you a shot of something that will help reduce your heat symptoms for a few minutes, alright?”

My omega starts to shake violently, more tears streaming down her face, attempting to move away from her doctor, who seems even more concerned now.

“No shot,” Madi manages to get out, grabbing her arm. “He…gave…me…one.”

Alric growls, holding her tighter, looking like something out of a horror movie. What the fuck did Jensen give her? I want him brought back to life so I can kill him this time.

Dr. Rose softly places her hand on Madi’s arm.

“I’m so sorry that happened. I’m going to be very gentle, like I was last time we saw each other.

We have a few questions for you and it’s very important you have a clear head for it.

It’s going to feel like you’ve been given a shot of adrenaline.

So a racing heartbeat and tingling hands or feet are totally normal. You are safe here.”

It takes a second, but Madi nods, squeezing her eyes shut, Alric whispering what a good girl she is being. She holds out her arm with a sniffle and lets her doctor give her a small shot of something.

She bolts upright, breathing heavily with a slightly panicked expression, but clarity has returned to her eyes.

“Oh fuck, that was terrible,” Madi says, rubbing her head.

“We only have a few minutes. Were you harmed in any way?”

“He gave me a shot to make my heat start faster, but I wasn’t there long enough for any physical harm. Thanks to them.” Her grateful expression when she glances at me makes me swell with pride that we were able to protect our omega.

“I’m glad to hear that. The shot we gave you will counteract what he gave you, but your heat will be starting naturally very soon.”

Everyone besides us, Dr. Rose, and one of the nurses filters out of the room once Madi is assessed by the medical team.

“Please call Harper, my emergency contact, as soon as possible and tell her I’m okay! Tell her everything!”

“We will,” Dr. Rose says. “Now, normally, there would be a much longer consultation about what you will and won’t allow during your heat. Do you have any hard limits that your alphas need to be aware of?”

Madi looks at all of us with a peaceful expression that makes my heart soar. “No, I trust them. They know what I like.”

“Even knots?” Hunter asks hopefully, wiggling his eyebrows, knowing exactly what to say to break the tension.

Madi laughs, and it’s the most beautiful sound. “Well, I’ve never been knotted before so if I hate it, no, but if I ask for it and enjoy it, yes.”

He makes a celebratory gesture that amuses us all.

Her doctor makes a note. “Do you still want an unsupervised heat?”

Madi nods. “I just want to be alone with my alphas right now. They’ll know what to do to make me feel better.”

Dr. Rose smiles at her. “Alright, final question. Would you like any of your alphas to wear a bite guard to ensure that no bonding takes place during this heat? The urge to bond is going to be very strong, especially after you all went through such a traumatic experience. Plus it’s your first heat and you’ve delayed it for a long time. ”

“That might be a good idea,” I tell Madi honestly. “Emotions are really high right now.”

Hunter nods. “Everyone is shaken up, and we don’t need to make a decision about bonding this time.”

“We’re honored to share your heat”—Alric takes her hand, kissing the back of it—“but I won’t be able to control the alpha urge to bite and bond you after we almost lost you today. None of us expect you to be ready for that, but you should know that I want it.”

“We all want that,” I add, Hunter nodding next to me.

She looks at each one of us and I know we’re all holding our breath.

It’s too much to hope for, that she would ask for no bite guards.

It’s too soon and she’s been through so much today.

Even the question makes my teeth ache with the desperation to make her mine.

To know her emotions as she feels them, to love her fully, tying all of our souls together in the most intimate and thrilling way, for all of eternity. As a pack, as scent matches, and as soulmates. Bonded through love and friendship.

Finally, she answers, “No bite guards. I’m done running from my future.”

“And you are absolutely sure?” I need to ask one last time and she answers me with a brazen smile.

“If I bite, alpha, you better bite back.”
