Chapter 30

THIRTY

LUCA

A few weeks later

The tour has turned into a blur of stages, hotels, and stolen moments.

Kai and I can’t get enough of each other.

We share a room every night now. The second the door closes, clothes come off and hands find skin.

We fuck like we’re making up for all the months we spent pretending we hated each other.

Sometimes it’s slow and deep. Sometimes it’s rough and desperate against the wall. We don’t care who hears anymore.

Michael and Min-ho tease us relentlessly.

Every morning at breakfast, Michael makes exaggerated kissing noises. Min-ho just gives us these quiet, knowing looks that somehow feel worse. We don’t even pretend to be embarrassed. We just flip them off and keep stealing touches under the table and kisses above.

I don’t care.

I’m happy.

Right now, I’m sprawled on the hotel bed in our shared room, scrolling on my phone while Kai showers. The sound of the water running is soothing. My thumb stops when I see a new interview clip Michael did yesterday.

I hit play.

Michael is grinning at the interviewer, looking relaxed.

“Yeah, they’re disgustingly in love,” he says with a laugh. “You can feel it when they’re on and off stage. It’s real. The way they look at each other? It’s the kind of thing most people spend their whole lives looking for.”

I smile at the screen, warmth spreading through my chest. Michael’s right. It is real. And hearing someone else say it out loud makes it feel even more solid.

The bathroom door opens.

Kai steps out with a towel around his waist, hair damp and messy, water still dripping down his chest. He looks ridiculously good.

He catches me smiling at my phone.

“What’s got you looking like that?”

I turn the phone toward him so he can see the clip paused on Michael’s face.

“Michael did an interview. Called us ‘disgustingly in love.’”

Kai’s mouth curves into a small, shy smile. He walks over and climbs onto the bed, straddling my hips without hesitation. The towel slips a little, giving me a perfect view of the V of his hips.

“He’s not wrong,” Kai says, leaning down to kiss me softly. “We kind of are.”

I hum against his mouth, hands sliding up his damp thighs. “Kind of?”

“Very,” he corrects, nipping at my bottom lip.

We kiss for a long moment, lazy and warm, before I pull back just enough to look at him.

The tour is almost over. One more show after tonight, then a break.

I’ve been thinking about this for days, and my stomach is still twisted with nerves.

“So… after the last show,” I start, voice a little unsteady, “we have that break. I was wondering if you wanted to come stay at my parents’ house with me. Just for a bit. Just… us. And my family.”

Kai goes still on top of me. His eyes search mine.

“You want me to meet your parents?” he asks quietly.

“You’ve met them before.”

“Not as your boyfriend.”

“Yeah.” I swallow. “I know it’s a big step. But I want them to know you. The real you. Not the version the cameras see.”

Kai’s expression softens. He brushes a strand of hair off my forehead, thumb lingering on my temple.

“I’d like that,” he says simply. “A lot.”

Relief floods through me so fast it makes me dizzy. I grin up at him, hands squeezing his thighs.

“Good. Because my mom already asked about you twice. She wants to cook for you.”

Kai laughs softly, leaning down to kiss me again. “Then I guess I’m really meeting the parents.”

We stay like that for a while, trading slow kisses, with the rest of the world feeling far away. And I would love to just stay here and ignore everything else, but we do have two more shows to get through before we can do that for a few weeks.

Kai’s phone buzzes on the nightstand. He reaches for it, climbing off my lap, and glancing at the screen.

“It’s Laney,” he says, a small smile tugging at his lips. He answers, putting it on speaker. “Hey, Laney.”

“Kai! Finally. I’ve been trying to reach you for days and your time zone just isn’t lining up. How’s the tour going? Are you two still disgustingly cute or did you finally kill each other?”

Kai laughs, the sound warm. “We’re good. Really good, actually.”

They chat for a few minutes, and I trail my fingers over him, tracing the lines of his tattoos.

I’m trying to be patient, but patience has never been my strong suit when it comes to Kai.

I’m greedy for his attention. When it’s on anyone else, even his best friend, I feel it like an itch under my skin.

I lean in and press my mouth to the side of his neck, kissing slowly down the column of his throat. Kai’s breath hitches, but he keeps talking.

“Yeah, the shows have been insane. The crowds are loud as hell over here.”

I trail kisses lower, across his collarbone, then down to his pecs. I flick my tongue over one nipple, sucking lightly. Kai’s free hand tightens in my hair, but he doesn’t push me away.

“I’m so happy for you. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted.”

“Uh-huh,” he says into the phone, voice a little tighter now. “Yeah. The setlist is solid.”

I smile against his skin and move lower, kissing down the center of his abs. My hands slide up his thighs, spreading them wider as I settle between them. Kai’s breathing is getting shallower.

Laney’s voice comes through the speaker. “You sound weird. Are you okay?”

“I’m good,” Kai manages, but it comes out a little breathy. “Just… tired from the show last night.”

I reach his cock, already hard for me. I lift my gaze to him in a silent question. He gives a quick, shaky nod. With a smile, I lick a slow stripe up the underside, then swirl my tongue around the head. Kai’s hips jerk. He bites his lip hard to stay quiet.

“Anyway,” he continues, voice strained, “what’s new with you?”

I take him into my mouth, sucking him down in one smooth motion. Kai’s hand flies to my hair, gripping tight. A soft, choked sound escapes him before he can stop it.

Laney pauses. “Kai… are you sure you’re okay? You sound like you’re running or something.”

“I’m—” Kai’s voice cracks as I hollow my cheeks and take him deeper, throat relaxing around him. “I’m fine.”

I start moving, tongue pressing along the underside while my hand strokes what my mouth can’t reach. Kai’s thighs tremble on either side of my head. His free hand fists the sheets.

Laney laughs. “You’re being so weird right now. Are you exercising for real?”

Kai lets out a shaky laugh that turns into a quiet groan when I swirl my tongue around the head again. “Something like that.”

I hum around him, the vibration making his hips buck. He’s fully hard now, leaking on my tongue. I can taste the salt of him, feel the way he throbs every time I suck harder.

“Kai, I swear if you’re doing what I think you’re doing while talking to me—”

“I’m—” He cuts off with a sharp inhale as I take him all the way down again. “Fuck—Laney, I gotta go. Talk later.”

He hangs up before she can reply, tossing the phone onto the bed with a shaky hand.

“Asshole,” he gasps, looking down at me with dark, glassy eyes. “You’re the worst.”

I pull off just long enough to grin up at him. “You love it. Also, I did ask.”

Then I take him back into my mouth, sucking him deep and fast until his hips are stuttering and his hand is tight in my hair, holding me to him.

Kai comes with a broken moan, spilling hot down my throat. I swallow every drop, milking him through it until he’s trembling and pushing weakly at my head.

When I finally pull off, I crawl back up his body and kiss him slowly, letting him taste himself on my tongue.

He’s still breathing hard when he pulls back, eyes half-lidded.

“You’re going to kill me one of these days,” he mutters.

“Never. I need you too much.”
