Ahigh-pitched ringing filled my ears, drowning everything else out. Voices moved, mouths opened—nothing reached me.

A hollowness took over as I stared forward. The world fuzzed at the edges. Sounds broke apart. Voices splintered into something meaningless.

I wasn’t in control of my body; it was like autopilot had been left on. Like my mind couldn’t hold it together.

I couldn’t hold it together.
