Don’t Be Funny, Be Hilarious #3
“Don’t be telling your bros our business either.”
“I don’t even be bragging on my shit, Wyn. What bitch you know for sure I fucked? Exactly.”
I rolled my eyes, not willing to admit he was right.
“That shouldn’t change now that you dipping into Miss Snowflake. Don’t be out here embarrassing me. You were all on me last night, and you know how people talk. Don’t give no bitches a reason to try and talk shit about me.”
Set grinned, dimples puncturing his peanut butter cheeks. “I’on know. I may like you fighting over me.”
I dug the tips of my nails into his skin, making him hiss. “Get fucked up if you want. Oh, and last thing. Don’t fall in love with me. I’m all twisted up, and I don’t want you caught up in my bullshit.”
I tried to play it off like I was joking, but it didn’t fool Set. Of course it wouldn’t.
“You talking to the king of twisted up, Wyn. But I got you. No getting caught up in our feelings. You sure you can handle that?”
“They don’t call me the Ice Princess for no reason, Mr. Set It Off.” I wrapped a hand around his neck and put some pressure on his veins. Heat pooled in his eyes, but before I could lean in to kiss him, his phone began vibrating.
We both sighed as he grabbed it. His whole demeanor changed, and I slid off of him.
“I’ma take you home. You can wear my slides out.”
He went into his closet and came out in joggers, a hoodie, and some sneakers, and handed me some sweats to put on. His slides swallowed my feet, but I was over the heels.
Shad was poised to knock once Set opened the door. The first thing I noticed was a blue rose taking up the entire side of his neck, like the ones covering Turkey’s arm, and Set’s hand.
Shad looked between me and Set, his eyebrows pulling more and more.
“Shouldn’t you be at school?” Set asked as we poured into the hallway.
He walked behind us, all dark and broody. “Pops told me I’m with you today.”
“Negative. I’ll take you to school and then I’ll get you from Sean’s later today. You ain’t coming with me.”
We left the house and got into Set’s beamer. He got on his phone before he got inside, and walked away to take it.
“How you been–”
“You fucking Set now?” Shad asked, cutting me off. He twisted himself in the front seat to peer at me.
I didn’t fuck him. Not yet. But I didn’t want to tell Shad.
“You know, it took Trippy six months to get out of the hospital. You ain’t visit once… he asks me about you.”
I blinked as I began to bite the skin on my lip. His gaze turned intense, and my chest began to pull.
“What do you want me to say, Shad?”
Shad turned back around. “Nothing, I guess.”
Set got back in the car grumbling. “You got yo permit right? You ain’t missing no more school, Dub. You, nor Sean. You need to learn to lie to them niggas, bro. But yo ass wanted to sleep in today.”
“Whatever.”
“Yeah, whatever my ass.”
I covered my smile with my fingers as they went back and forth. Set acted like his daddy more than their actual dad.
Set pulled up to my curb and shifted the gear into park. We both exited the car and he followed me to my front door.
“You still got the same number?”
I nodded as my key disengaged the locks. “Yeah, but come in for a second.”
His eyebrows kissed, but he did what I said, following me into my room.
I grabbed my duffel bag and dropped it on my bed. He was silent as I opened it and grabbed five stacks.
“I would wanna go crazy if someone stole from me, so here.” I turned and offered him the money.
He stared at my hand for a long time, his jaw ticking. I didn’t think I overstepped. Money is money, and none of us particularly came from it. We were lucky to be seeing as much as we were now, and fifty bands was a lot.
Set wasn’t known for his mercy. In fact, Foe Dub was notorious for getting you a thousand times worse than you could ever think of getting them. Ishy was dead, but taking an L on fifty bands was a lot for him, just off the strength that I was working with Wave’s gang.
I would make it back. I wasn’t in a hurry to leave. I’d have to stop going out, but it wouldn’t have been a big setback.
“Damn, Wyn. You getting to it like that with them niggas?”
I shrugged. “Yeah, almost a year now. I don’t fuck with them taking cars and shit. I usually stay with the credit cards and merchandise.”
“Them niggas gonna get killed taking cars and shit. I’ma plug that nigga with Ty so they won’t go to jail. You keep your money, girl. I’m more than straight.”
“You sure?” I shook my hand, and he grabbed it and put it back into the bag, and zipped it up.
“You ain’t gotta give me shit.”
“Well, okay–”
His fingers curled around my neck as he brought my lips to his. His lips were soft, kneading mine before his tongue licked across the seam.
I let him lead as he tongued me down. A full minute, before he took a step back and licked his lips.
“Yeah, we gon’ have some fun,” he smirked. “I’ll bang your line later, Wyn. Make sure you bring my slides when I scoop you.”
I nodded robotically, and walked him to the door. He turned and kissed me again, chuckled to himself, and opened the door.
One foot in front of the other, I walked back to my room. My finger perused my lips, but just like when they connected with his, there was absolutely no spark.
Set It Off. Casey Washington. Big ego, bigger dick to match. Soft lips, kissing mine.
And I felt absolutely nothing.
“Damn you, Rico,” I whispered.
I knew I’d see it through. Regardless on if he wasn’t the one, he’d be a good fuck.
And even though I told him not to tell his bros, niggas never listened. So there was another plus; getting under that nigga’s skin.
“He probably won’t even care,” I concluded aloud.
Rico had been done with me. He probably never even started.
It was time for me to move on.
