Stitches (Phantom Fury MC #7)

Chapter One

Andy and Avery heard footsteps running down the hall.

King and a few of the others pushed their way into the infirmary.

King glared at what he saw, “What the hell happened here?” He growled.

Gabby looked up at him, her eyes were flooded with tears.

“Sarah busted in through the back door. She had a gun in her hands and she shot my dad. Then she dragged Mom out of the bed and threatened to shoot her right there if she didn’t come with her.

Mom told her to just leave us alone and Sarah laughed.

” Gabby shuddered. “I’ve never heard an evil laugh before but I was stunned at hers.

Then Sarah turned her gun on me and threatened Mom again.

She said she would kill me where I stood if Mom didn’t come with her then she grabbed Mom by the hair and dragged her out of here.

” Her voice faded as she turned back to her dad.

Train was still out and he was bleeding.

Stitches and a few others joined them.

Stitches rushed over to where Train was laid out on the floor. He quickly assessed his condition and looked around for help to get him into the bed. “Lift him up and get him to where I can look at him.” Suddenly, he spotted the empty bed and asked, “Where did Gina go?”

“Sarah grabbed her and she shot Train then she threatened to shoot Gabby. What’s going on outside?”

“We took down the dozen men she had,” Gunner explained. “But we lost sight of Lester and Sarah early on.”

Andy shook her head. “I saw Mom and Grandpa in another area. I thought they were coming in and we were on our way to tell you when we heard Gabby scream. Mom must be faster on her feet than anyone else knew.”

Gunner nodded. “Doesn’t matter. We can track her. Jett’s a great tracker.”

King nodded. “Let him try then. We have to get Gina back before they have a chance to kill her.”

Gabby stood and she looked upset by what had happened. She swiped tears from her cheeks.

Shilo came forward and wrapped her in his arms.

She leaned against him for a moment then whispered, “All my life I just wanted someone to love me. When I was four I saw my mom murdered, I was attacked and left for dead, then I recovered and found my own way, thinking the whole time that I had no one. For a little while, it seemed like I finally had a place, a family. I wasn’t completely alone in this world.

Then my mom’s family which I never wanted to be part of comes back into the picture and all they want is what my mom left for me in case she was ever killed.

She knew all along what her family would do.

Then we find out the truth finally. My dad was sent to prison for murdering my mother but he never hurt her, some dealer did it and she was still alive.

And I finally got my parents back. Then look at what Sarah just did! It’s too much, just too fucking much.”

Shilo shook his head at her. “I’m sorry it’s been like that for you, Gabby. It will turn out alright.”

She stepped away from him. “Will it? They won’t hesitate to kill her and you know it.

Sarah and Lester only value money, never the people they should love because they are family.

” She turned and stared at the bed her dad was on, to the men working on him, hoping to keep him alive.

“I barely got to know him and she shot him like his life never mattered. Well, he matters to me. My mom matters to me too. She was all I had when I was little and Sarah dragged her out of here like she didn’t care whether she lived or died.

” She turned to King, “Can you find her, Grandpa? Can you bring her back to me?”

King walked over to her and wrapped his big arms around her shoulders.

“Your dad is going to pull through too. No one can tell me that we got them both back just for us to lose them again. Our only mission right now is to find Sarah and Lester. We will destroy them in their tracks. You hang on to that thought, we will find them and we will take them down.”

Gabby nodded then stepped back and wiped the rest of her tears away.

She moved over to the bed her dad was laid out on and just stood there watching as Stitches cleaned up the blood.

They were all able to see the bullet hole in his neck.

Gabby just watched for a moment then she sat down and reached for his hand.

Gunner and some of his brothers left the Infirmary as they went in search of Jett. King left the room as well.

Everyone else waited and watched Stitches as he took care of Train.

Finally Stitches looked up at Gabby and said, “That’s all I can do for him.

I got the bullet out and stitched him up but it seemed to have just grazed him.

It missed anything vital and the bleeding had stopped.

” He shook his head. “He’s got a hell of a lump on the back of his head though.

Sarah must have pistol whipped him the moment she stepped into the room then afterward she shot him while he was down. ”

Gabby raised her gaze and stared at him while seeming to be uncomprehending to what he was saying. “She knocked him out then she shot him?”

Stitches shrugged and gave her his summation of the events, “That’s what I think happened. There’s a bullet hole through the floor near where you were sitting. If he’d been standing, the hole wouldn’t be there.”

Gabby looked incensed. “You mean she knocked him out then she fucking shot him?” She clenched her fists at her sides as she asked in a low voice. “Will he wake up?”

Stitches paused then he replied, “I’m hoping so. He needs some time to heal, so being unconscious is a good thing for him right now.”

Gabby looked up then around the room. Her gaze collided with Commando’s and she seethed.

“When they are dragged back here in chains I want five minutes alone with Sarah. She thinks she’s so fucking tough?

Well, I’m gonna show her street tough. I’m gonna leave her on the floor bloody and crying like a baby. ”

Andy stood there shaking her head. Then she looked over at Avery and motioned toward the door.

Once they got outside, Andy made her way to the main room.

King and Gunner stood there with two other men and they were speaking quietly. Then she saw the two men leaving the group and headed for the back door.

One of the men had the name Jett on his cut and the other had the name Boone on his.

Andy watched them leave then looked over at King. “Your guys have to find them. They have to bring Gina back.”

King nodded. “They’re sure gonna try.”

Gunner nodded. “Don’t you worry. Jett is the best of the best. A tracker for the military and he has an instinct for it too. It’s in his blood, you might say. If anyone can find them, he can.”

Andy nodded then looked at Avery. They walked over to one of the sofas and sat down. Andy hung her head as tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.

Avery reached out and clasped her hand into hers. “None of this is your fault you know that, right? It’s all your mom’s doing. Your mom and your grandpa.”

Andy looked up and her heartbreak showed in her eyes.

“My mom? That bitch was never a mother to me. She gave birth to me but she never loved anyone other than herself. She never really gave me a chance.” She shook her head.

“I tried but I think I could see right through her when I was 5 years old and I was finally big enough to start doing chores. She never loved me and neither did grandpa. I was just as lost as Gabby was. She grew up in foster homes but I had to live with that bitch and her father. I think Gabby had it better than I ever did.”

Avery nodded. “Yeah, I think so too. Your mother was a harsh woman and you’re right about her never loving anyone but herself.

Your grandpa was to blame for that and so much more.

They truly deserve each other.” She looked away then looked back at Andy and added, “But I know where all her money is and let me tell you, she’s been moving your grandpa’s money out of his accounts and into hers.

He doesn’t know it yet but she’s been robbing him blind for some time now. ”

Gunner walked over to where they were sitting and asked, “How do you know that?”

Avery looked up and shrugged. “I do their bookwork.”

“Well damn,” Gunner replied.

Avery nodded at him as she went on to explain what she knew, “Two years ago she started moving out of the old man’s accounts.

She kept enough in there so he wouldn’t suspect but that old man isn’t as dumb as she thinks he is.

Those two battleaxes are going to come to blows very soon I think.

Not everything between them is so great anymore.

I mean yeah, they are both awful human beings.

They would sneak up on an old man just to knock him out and take his wallet or pull the gold teeth from their mouths.

Turn it in for cash. If they were younger they would be grave robbers.

Greedy, mean, and sneaky as all fuck. Steal the wedding ring from a dead skeleton’s finger. ” She shook her head in disgust.

Andy nodded in total agreement. “Exactly them. You can imagine what it was like to grow up around that.”

Avery shrugged. “But things are stressed between them, that’s for sure.”
