Chapter 21

Chapter twenty-one

Amethyst

“You killed Luther, burned down his church, and popped a Franklin in the process.” Pop moved his gun from his lap and set it on the table. A plate of food was put in front of him, looking good as fuck. “What am I missing?” He asked before he started eating.

“The most important part,” I answered.

“Which is?”

“I claimed Yale as a Stone,” I replied.

He stopped eating his food and looked up at me.

Growing up, he constantly poured into us the importance of loving our women properly.

He said that if we weren’t prepared to go to the end of the world plus beyond behind a woman, then there was no reason to claim her, which is why my brothers and I were so selective when it came to women.

Pyrite always said that when he became that obsessed with a woman, he would know no bounds to how far he would go, and Citrine said his possessiveness would get him committed.

I never had to question how far I would go for love because the moment I saw Yale, I realized that I would try to stop time so that our time would be endless.

Compared to my brothers, the way I loved would be in stolen moments.

“Now it makes sense,” he laughed and nodded. “You’re finally moving like a grown man and not a little boy. I like the look on you.”

“Stop playin’, Pop,” I laughed as I stood and went to the stove to make me a plate. “I’ve always moved as a grown man.”

“Amethyst, stop lying to yourself,” he grunted. “You moved like a fuckin’ lil boy all those years ago, which is why you’re in this situation you’re in now.”

“Man-”

“Lie if you want to, and we’re going to that backyard to throw hands,” he threatened and pushed his plate away. “As a grown ass man, admit your mistake, fix it, and make sure that shit doesn’t happen again.”

I leaned against the counter and crossed my arms. As much as I wanted to act like I hadn’t fucked up all those years ago, there was no reason to lie and pretend like I hadn’t.

This shit was on me, and I knew it, but there wasn’t shit I could do to change the past. The only thing I could do was fix it now.

“Alright.” I nodded and wiped my hand over my mouth. “I fucked up all those years ago.”

“I know,” he chuckled, then pulled his plate back to him. “Now what’s your next play because I know you aren’t going to wait for them to come to you.”

“Hell no,” I said, shaking my head. “I’m leaving Yale here with you and mama and making moves again.”

“You taking your brothers?”

“Yes, sir,” I nodded. “I’m waiting on them to pull up, and then we are moving as a unit like you taught us.”

“Come back to get your woman tonight,” he said, then took a bite of his chicken. “Handle that shit, then come get her and go home.”

“Damn man, we can’t spend the night?”

“Nope,” he answered, then picked up his bottle of water. “I plan on having your mama screaming my name, then walking around my house naked. Unless you want to see my dick and have your woman jealous from the way I’ma have your mama crying, I suggest you take her home.”

“My nigga.” I dropped my arms and mugged my Pop. “I don’t ever want to hear no shit like that again in my life.”

“You’ll hear a lot more if you don’t take your woman home tonight.” He shrugged.

“That’s my mama, man.”

“She was my woman first,” he said, grilling me.

“She’s gonna be my woman for the rest of my life, too.

” He leaned forward, and I knew that whatever was about to come out of his mouth was going to add stress to my life.

Pop played about shit, but Mama was never one of them, and I loved that for them.

I didn’t need to hear anything crazy. “It’s my job to take care of her, which I do.

” He pointed to this house. “Support her and fuck her every chance I get.” He sat back in his seat and smirked.

“That woman is fine, my dick still gets hard without meds, and I love hearing her moan. You think I give a fuck if she’s your mama?

Nigga, I know she is because I was the muthafucka that busted in her.

You were just the lucky sperm that got inside the egg first. My claim to her will always be stronger. ”

“You’re going to jail, my nigga,” I said, shaking my head.

“For what?” he chuckled.

“The way you just spoke to me gotta be against the law.”

“Amethyst, you’re a grown ass man, shut the fuck up,” he laughed as he stood and picked up his plate.

“You're probably fucking on my daughter-in-law every chance you get, and you talking about how I spoke to you is against the law.” He mugged me as he passed me. “Nigga, fuckin’ on another man’s wife is against the law in some states. ”

“That’s my fucking wife,” I replied.

“She just legally claimed by another nigga,” he grunted. “Fix that shit, then come talk to me. Until then, sit your ass at the kid’s table.” He put his plate in the dishwasher and then closed it.

“Pop,” I called out as he walked out of the kitchen.

“Talk to me after you handle your shit, Amethyst,” he said without turning around. “Until then, I stand on what the fuck I said in my gotdamn house where I pay the bills, worship my woman, and lay my head on her titties.”

“The fuck that nigga talking about?” Pyrite asked as he came into the kitchen. He dapped me up then grabbed a piece of chicken off the stove.

“You don’t even want to know,” I said, shaking my head. “Where is Citrine?”

“Out there on the phone with Lavender,” Pyrite answered with a laugh. “He’s trying to get her to agree to do the launch party for the new hotel.” He took a bite of his chicken. “But she ain’t trying to do it because I booked her for the Queen’s opening night.”

“That nigga gonna spazz,” I laughed, and Pyrite shrugged.

“He was taking too long, and I got shit planned,” he replied. “He can buy my contract out if he wants her that bad.”

“You know he will.”

“I know,” Pyrite smiled. “I’ma double the price just to fuck with him.”

“Fucking cold,” I said, then pushed off the counter. “I’ma go check on Sunshine. Hit me up when he’s off the phone and ready to go.”

“Bet, I’m about to make my plate.”

I hugged my brother, then left the kitchen and headed to the theater room, where I knew Yale was. She and Mama had plans to watch some sappy ass movie, more than likely. I walked into the theater room to find only Mama.

“Mama, where’s Sunshine?” I tugged at her loose curl, and Mama waved me off. “Where’s my girl at?”

“She had to pee with your clingy ass,” Mama answered as she looked at her phone. “You can wait until she comes out to say whatever you want to say.”

“Which bathroom?” I didn’t care what mama was talking about, and she knew it. I always wanted to be under Yale, and she knew it.

“Let that girl pee in peace, Amethyst,” she sighed and looked up at me.

“I don’t even have anything to say to her, I just want to see her.”

“You got it so bad, son,” she laughed and shook her head. “Always have and probably always will.”

“Probably,” I smiled at her, then kissed her forehead. “Now, which bathroom is she using?”

“She can’t pee in peace, Am?”

“I’m not gonna say anything, just watch her.” I shrugged, and her face twisted. “Mama, you can’t say anything, because Pop will stand in the bathroom with you while you shit.”

“That’s my husband,” she laughed.

“Whatever,” I replied, waving her off. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and looked around. “What are y’all about to watch?”

“Some serial killer documentary,” she answered, and I kissed my teeth.

“I swear I will never understand women. Y’all will watch that shit, then go right to sleep, but let a spider walk by y’all and it’s screams and shit. Y’all scared of the wrong thing.”

“Mind the business that pays you,” she replied.

Mama was scared as hell of spiders, but would watch some documentary with no problem.

It was crazy to me, but she and Yale stayed binge-watching a show together, and I loved their bond, so I was going to stay in my lane.

“Go find that girl, try to live in her skin for a little while, then send her back down here so we can enjoy our show.”

“Yes, ma’am,” I laughed, then left the room to find Yale.

She would use only two bathrooms in this house, even though there were seven.

She would either use the half bathroom or the one in my bedroom.

I checked the half bath and found it empty, then went to my room.

She was walking out of the bathroom just as I was walking into the room.

She looked stressed, which put me on alert.

I hadn’t asked her if Grant had reached out again, but now I was wondering if he had. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” she quickly denied, which meant she was lying.

“Sunshine, what’s wrong?” I approached her and pulled her to me. My arms went around her shoulders, and hers went around my waist. “Talk to me.”

“Nothing is wrong, I’m just in my head about something, that’s all,” she answered, and I twisted my mouth because I knew she was lying. “I would tell you if there was something wrong, Am.”

“You better.” I moved one of my arms from her shoulder and cupped her butt. “I missed you today.”

“You saw me this morning.” She looked up at me and smiled.

“Then came to my office to have lunch and picked me up to bring me here.” Having lunch with her was spur of the moment, but I wanted to be in her space, so I stopped by.

It wasn’t even anything fancy, just a sandwich, and we kicked it in her office.

It was something that I’d done a million times before, but now that we’d moved our relationship in a different direction, it felt different, and I liked it.

“I still missed your ass,” I laughed, then nuzzled her neck. “You didn’t miss me?”

“I did,” she answered with a soft moan.

“Then tell me that shit,” I said as I moved backwards to my bed, then dropped down on it and pulled her with me. “As a matter of fact, just call me when you miss me, and I’ll come to you.”
