Chapter 50 #2
“Why haven’t you put my girl out of her misery and fucked her?
” she asked. “She’s pregnant with your big head ass baby, that thang between her legs needs to be handled properly.
What’s your problem?” I reached for my phone, and Berkeley turned so that I couldn’t take it from her.
“You need to get your shit together and handle that for her.”
“I’m trying to show her that forgiving me is the right choice,” he answered. “I want to do it the right way. Show her that I’m the nigga for her and that us stepping into a relationship will be worth it. Like you said, we have a baby on the way, but I want her to be my wife, not just my baby mama.”
“Aww, that’s cute and all, but can you fuck her while you are proving all that?
” Berkeley said, and Spelman started laughing.
I rubbed my eyes and sighed. “My baby sister knows you love her; hell, we all do. You’ll go to the end of the earth for her and all that good shit, but she needs some dick while you are proving all that other stuff.
She’s not going to be snapping at us because you are being stingy. ”
“She’s been snapping at y’all?” he laughed.
“It was a long six months before we came here,” Berkeley answered and had the damn nerve to sigh like I stressed her out.
“My bad, sis,” he replied. “I’ll see what I can do,” he laughed, and my nipples got hard.
Berkeley wasn’t lying when she said I was snapping at them and short-tempered when we were in New Mexico.
I spent countless nights in my room with an attitude because I wanted dick, and the only dick I wanted was Amethyst.
“We would appreciate it,” she said, nodding. “Now I’m getting off the phone. Have a good night.” She hung up the phone and handed it to me. “I love you, baby sis, but please fuck on that man tonight or don’t come back here.”
“This is my house, Berkeley,” I laughed.
“I said what I said.” She shrugged. “Either fuck on him or find somewhere else to lay your head tonight because I refuse to deal with your short-tempered ass in the morning if you don’t.”
“You don’t know if I’ll have an attitude,” I said, shaking my head. “I could be in a good mood for all you know.”
“Not if you don’t get any dick you won’t,” she countered. “Even if you don’t have sex, let him lick on it or something.”
“Bye, Berkeley,” I called out as I left the room. “I will see you tomorrow.”
“Remember what I said!” she shouted as I walked towards my room.
Laughing, I stopped at Clarke’s room to see her sitting in the middle of the floor carving a piece of wood. I knocked, and she lifted her head to look at me. “I love you, Clarke,” I said, smiling.
“I love you too, Yale,” she replied. “Have fun on your date.” I knew she could hear us because the doors were open and she wasn’t wearing her noise-canceling headphones.
“I will,” I said, nodding. “I’ll see you later.” I left her doorway and continued to my room.
“Yale?” Clarke called out when I got to my room.
“Yeah?”
“I hate to admit it, but Berkeley is right,” she yelled. “Please have sex so we can know a few more days of peace!”
The last thing I heard was all three of my sisters’ laughter as I closed my bedroom door.
**
Amethyst and I walked through the park holding hands.
I was surprised as hell when we pulled up and got out, but I didn’t ask questions.
Instead, I let him lead us through the parking lot and then into the empty field.
He was dressed in black Queens ball shorts, a white T-shirt, tall socks, and black-and-white Jordans.
His hair was down, and he was wearing his everyday jewelry: an iced-out herringbone necklace, a matching bracelet, his watch, and the necklace I designed for him in college.
He smelled good as fuck, too. When he smiled at me, and I saw his open face grill, I knew I was going to be in trouble. He looked too damn sexy.
“Alright,” he said, stopping in the middle of the field.
He let go of my hand and set down the duffel bag he was carrying.
“So, I didn’t know if we would make it in time, but we did.
” He squatted and unzipped the bag. “What color do you want?” he asked, looking up at me and smiling. “White or yellow?”
“What?” I had no idea what he was talking about.
“We are about to fly kites.” He pulled two kites from the bag and stood. “What color do you want? White or yellow?” Both the kites were white, so I didn’t understand his question.
“Amethyst, the sun is going down,” I said, looking around. “We won’t be able to see them in about fifteen minutes.”
“Can you just answer my question, please, Sunshine?” he kissed his teeth. “White or Yellow?”
I sighed because even though flying kites sounded like fun, I knew I was right about the sun going down. It’d been windy all day, and earlier today would’ve been perfect for this. Instead of arguing with him, I tapped one of the kites. “That one,” I said, and he nodded.
“Bet,” he said, kicking the bag away, then setting his kite on the ground.
I watched as he set up my kite, making sure it was put together correctly, and the string was long enough.
The wind picked up, and he tossed the kite into the air.
It caught immediately, and Amethyst looked back at me and smiled before handing me the string to hold it.
“Be careful and pay attention to where you are walking.”
“I know what I’m doing,” I playfully sassed, and Amethyst popped me on my ass as he passed me. I grabbed my stinging ass cheek and rubbed it. “Shit!”
“Keep talking shit if you want to, Sunshine.” He pointed at me, licked his lips, and shook his head. “I’ma handle that for sure tonight, though, don’t trip off it.” He picked up his kite, checked it, then threw it in the air. Just like with mine, the wind picked it up, and we were flying our kites.
We moved around each other, making sure our kites didn’t get tangled. I was having so much fun, but when the sun was fully set, I started pulling my kite in.
“Ay what are you doing?” Amethyst asked.
“The sun is going down, I can barely see my kite,” I answered.
He nodded, then used his free hand to reach into his pocket and pull out a small remote.
He aimed it at the kites, and to my amazement, they lit up.
I looked over at Amethyst, and my mouth dropped open in surprise. “They have lights on them?”
“Yep,” he nodded. “That’s why I asked you what color you wanted.” I looked back at the kites to see that mine had yellow lights on it and his had white.”
“I didn’t even see the damn lights on it,” I said, shaking my head. I looked over at him to see him watching me with a smile. “How did you think of this?”
“You don’t remember telling me you wanted to do this in college?” he asked, and I shook my head. “It was just some random conversation we had about shit we didn’t do a lot as kids that we wished we had. Yours was flying kites.”
“And yours was building Legos,” I said, nodding. I only remembered the conversation because the following Christmas, I bought him a Lego set. He spent the entire time building anything that he could think of. “That’s why I started buying you Legos.”
“Right,” he laughed. “Even now, you’ll randomly buy me a set, and it dawned on me last night that we did the kite thing a few times.
I kept trying to remember why, and then I remembered that we had gone late in the day and how disappointed you were when the sun went down, and we had to stop.
You joked about having to get glow-in-the-dark kites because you wanted to see what they would look like at night.
It took me a few days to get the kites, and I was scared today wasn’t going to be good weather for it, but I was wrong.
” He shrugged like it was no big deal, but to me it was.
He didn’t have to do this, yet he was, and it meant something that he’d remembered.
We spent the next 30 minutes flying our kites before packing up and walking back to the car.
“Thank you,” I said once we got back inside the car. Amethyst looked over at me. “I had so much fun. I can’t wait to do it again.”
He rested his head against the headrest and licked his lips. “You legit liked it?” he asked. “I was scared you were going to think it was corny or something.”
“No.” I smiled. “This was perfect.” I leaned over the center console and kissed him. When I pulled back, I wiped my lip gloss from his bottom lip.
“You ready for the rest of our date?” he asked, then licked his lips.
“Where are we going now?”
“It’s a surprise,” he answered with a laugh, and I playfully rolled my eyes. He adjusted his seat, then started the car. “Just know you’re going to like it.”
**
We drove to the other side of town and pulled into the parking garage of Citrine’s newest hotel and got out.
It was scheduled to open in a few weeks, but from the looks of it, you would think it was open.
There were people at the desk, in the lobby, and at the bar.
The white marble floors popped against the dark red and white aesthetics.
Just like the other Stone Hotels, this one was beautiful and stylish.
“I thought this wasn’t supposed to be open yet,” I said, looking around. We walked to the elevators, and Amethyst took a keycard from his pocket and swiped it against the reader. The elevator doors opened, and he did the same thing once we were inside, then the doors closed.
“The reservation list was so long that he decided to open early,” Amethyst replied, and I nodded. “It’s not public knowledge, and the ticket cost everyone here damn near triple what their original reservation fee was.”
“Triple?” I repeated with a laugh. The cost of staying at Stone Hotel usually ran close to three grand a night, and that was for the cheaper rooms. There were no limits on what was offered here.
Citrine prided himself on providing nothing but the best, and because of that, all of his hotels were booked for at least 2 years. “Damn.”
“Same thing I said when he told us.” Amethyst shrugged.
The elevator stopped, and the doors opened to the most beautiful room I’d ever seen.
Just like the lobby, there were white marble floors, but that’s where the similarities ended.
White walls and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing downtown greeted me.
We got off the elevator and walked into the living room.
A chef’s kitchen with stainless steel appliances and black cabinets was to the right of the living room, which had an overly large, plush white L-shaped couch, a glass table, a lit fireplace, and a TV mounted on the wall.
“This is beautiful,” I said, walking around the living room.
“I have to agree,” he said, looking at me. He licked his lips, then put his hands in his pockets. “The bedroom is over there.” He nodded to the closed door to the right of us. “There are two other rooms on that side.”
I looked to the left, then turned my attention back to Amethyst. “Okay,” I said, nodding.
“The food should be about twenty minutes, but I have them on standby just in case you aren’t done showering when it’s supposed to come up.” He approached me, then stood over me without touching me. “That okay with you?”
“Yes,” I answered as I stared up at him. He looked so damn sexy. “And twenty minutes is enough time.”
“Cool,” he said, nodding. “Your clothes are already in the room.” He wrapped his hand around my throat, then licked his lips. “So go ahead and shower.”
“What about you?” I asked.
“I’ma use the other bathroom, don’t trip off me.
” He kissed me, and it took everything in me not to grab his shirt and never let him go.
When he pulled back, we were both panting, and I could feel how hard his dick was.
“Go shower, Sunshine.” He kissed me softly, then stepped back.
He licked his lips and shook his head. “Go on.”
“Yes, sir.” I nodded, then turned and went to the room.
