18. Cashlynn
CHAPTER 18
CASHLYNN
M y body seethed with anger as I gripped the butt of my gun tightly, my eyes darting around the streets. Chaos broke out around us as everyone ran around in a frenzy. My heart pounded viciously as blood pumped wildly through my body. I rushed to Carson and helped him off the ground, quickly checking him over.
“Everyone head to the trucks now! Family meeting!” Dominic bellowed. His face was fire truck red and veins bulged from his neck.
I bit the inside of my cheek, not feeling this meeting he was calling. My mind was on one thing, finding out who’d shot at us and going after them.
“C’mon.” I flinched when Nazai touched my arm.
“Don’t.” I shook him off, turning to glare at him. He matched my stare.
“Go to the truck,” he gritted.
I wanted to fight him, but I knew now wasn’t the time. I scanned the scene again. His brothers all looked on edge. Nora stood by her husband looking just as upset.
I didn’t know what the plan was, but I was out for blood now. I had never been in a shootout before. Outside of when that bounty was placed on me I’d never had anyone try me before. When the gunshots rang out, I didn’t hesitate to snatch my gun and start shooting back. This was personal and whatever they had planned I wanted parts of it.
____
No one spoke as Dominic paced back and forth in front of the fireplace in his living room. Once we got to his home, we all piled into the family room and were now waiting for Dominic to speak
“Is no one gonna say anything?” I finally said, tired of the silence.
Dominic stopped pacing and focused on me. “Got something to get off your chest?”
“Yeah I do!” I shook Nazai off when he tried to grab me. “Some idiot tried to kill us and we’re just sitting here looking at each other instead of going after them.”
“We can’t go after someone if we don’t know who they are,” River noted.
“Which brings me to, who the hell would be dumb enough to come after us?” Dominic’s eyes traveled around the room.
“There’s only one person who has known issues right now,” Lucas stated. He turned to face me with a blank stare.
I cut my eyes at him. “This has nothing to do with me,” I spat with my mouth turned up.
Nazai shut him down. “I handled that. The Rhodes know Cashlynn’s off limits and called off the bounty.”
“That’s the only logical choice. None of us have beef going on right now.”
“Even if it was the Rhodes they’re not stupid enough to come after us while we’re all together. It’s not them.”
“This is some bullshit!” Dominic rattled off in Spanish. Do you have any more enemies outside of your ex’s family?” Dominic asked, focusing on me.
My tongue poked the inside of my cheek. “That’s it. And Nazai is right, those idiots didn’t do this. They don’t have enough balls.” I brought my apple juice I had in my purse to my mouth and took a sip. Not knowing who was after us had me unsettled. I wasn’t used to being hunted. Just the month the bounty had been active made me jumpy and paranoid.
“Emmet, I want you to check out all of the surrounding traffic cams. See if you can get the plates of the car then run them. I spoke with the police at the scene and they’re gonna be all on this. Someone coming after an ex judge is a big deal, they’ll keep me in the loop, but this isn’t on them. This is family business. If anyone comes up to any of you, don’t say shit. Keep your eyes and ears open when you’re out and watch your backs. River, I need your men in the streets, find out if anyone’s talking about coming for the family. Nazai…” He paused and locked eyes with his oldest son. “This is the time you show you’re not to be fucked with. I’m not passing the family down to you until I see you’re built for this.”
I could feel Nazai tense next to me. He adjusted his tie. “Cashlynn.” My spine straightened and my lips pinched together, waiting for his next words. “You earned my respect today. I wasn’t expecting you to pull out a gun and start shooting.”
“I don’t take threats against me lightly.”
“You better be careful, bro, she might have a bullet with your name on it.” Ezra laughed, but he wasn’t too far off. There were a couple of times I was tempted to pull my gun on his brother.
“Shut up,” Nazai gritted.
“Everyone’s dismissed. I’ma make some calls to a few people who owe me favors and see if I can find anything out too.” Dominic waved his hand in front of him.
I sat there trying to see if that was truly it. I turned to Nazai. “That’s all he has to say.”
Nazai’s eyes landed on me. “Dad doesn’t do anything without purpose. He’s calculated. Once Emmet gets information on the car, we’ll go from there.”
I turned toward the youngest Tavarez. Since I’d been in this family, I’d hardly heard him speak. I knew he ran a PI firm and from how his family spoke on him, he was a whiz at computers. I saw him shooting at the car too, but his face was impassive, almost like he was bored right now. Like he felt my eyes, he turned and stared at me. It sent a chill up my spine at how expressionless he was.
Snatching my eyes away, I looked around the room. Dominic and his wife, who had been sitting in the chair close to him listening and observing, spoke quietly amongst themselves.
A faint beeping could be heard. “I got a patient,” Lucas said, standing up to leave.
He turned to me and gave me a hard stare. Me and Lucas never had an issue since I’d been around, but I could tell he wasn’t convinced tonight didn’t have anything to do with me.
Regardless, that wasn’t my concern. Maddox and his dad might talk a big game, but truthfully they were soft and not threats. Everything they did was for show. If anything, I was sure the Tavarezes had racked up enemies over time and this fell solely on them.
____
The street was dark and quiet outside of the sounds of crickets chirping. Two street lights stood on either side of the house, one flickering. As I watched the couple stagger inside the house, I waited, rubbing my gloved hands back and forth, across the steering wheel. The man was supposed to be the only person here, he was my target, but it looked like the girl was about to become a casualty too. His brother, who lived with him, had left when I pulled in, meaning the house was empty before they got here.
After the shooting the other day, I couldn’t wait to take on another job, reaching out to my handler. Going to the gun range I learned Nazai had at his getaway house didn’t help either. It took me two days to scope out my target before making my move.
I sighed, hating when the plan didn’t come together correctly, but I didn’t have time to wait around.
I gave it ten minutes before climbing out of the car. Making sure I had my black tool bag in my bookbag, I crossed the street and headed toward the house. I stayed on guard, walking up the driveway to the backyard. I hadn’t had time to scope out the house like I normally did but I knew it had no security measures. I didn’t know the details with this one, just that this guy had pissed off the wrong people. I didn’t care either way, as long as I got paid at the end of it.
Adjusting the cap on my head, I kneeled at the backdoor and went into my bag, finding my break in kit. It took a couple minutes before I heard the small click. Putting everything away, I stood and crept in the house. It was dark inside. The closer I got to the steps, the louder the moans coming from the room grew. The girl was crying out loudly in an annoying manner.
Reaching behind me, I grabbed my gun, releasing the safety and going into my bag to grab my silencer then screwing it on. Slowly, I made my way upstairs. When I got to the door, it was partially open. I peeked inside and the girl’s back was to me. She was on top of the guy, riding him with her head tossed back as her body bounced.
For a second, I froze, watching them. The guy grunted loudly, digging his hands into her ample sides.
I sank my teeth into my bottom lip. My hand on the gun tightened. The hair on the back of my neck rose and I was swarmed with heat. Before, something like this wouldn’t have affected me. But now I couldn’t help but think of how Nazai had taken me. It was only once, but it had been permanently instilled in my body. It was like he unlocked something inside of me that refused to go back in the shadows. I rubbed my throat, thinking of the soreness it once had from my encounter with Nazai. I kept seeing his heated gaze on me.
I shook my head. No, this wasn’t the time for that. Right now this kill was my main focus.
Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and pushed the urges I was feeling away. Never had I been this distracted on a job before. The sound of skin clapping together caused me to open my eyes again. Now the guy was behind the girl, growling while she cried out as if he was killing her.
“I never knew voyeurism was your kink, Wildfire. I never would’ve guessed.” Gasping, I quickly spun around with my gun pointed. My eyes widened seeing Nazai standing behind me with a crooked grin on his face. His eyes slid inside of the room then back to me.
“What are you doing here?” I hissed.
He stepped closer to me, the gun pressing into his chest. “You think I was gonna continue to allow my wife to sneak out of the house and not know where she’s going?” My nostrils flared as I pushed out a heavy breath.
“You need to leave.”
His smile fell and his tongue went across his top teeth. “Turn around.”
My brows furrowed and my heart tripled in speed, bumping against my ribcage. “What?”
Instead of repeating himself, he grabbed my wrist and spun me around. His body pressed against mine and he lowered his mouth to my ear.
“Does it turn you on watching them?” he rasped.
A shiver shot up my spine as he wrapped his arm around my body, placing his hand on my stomach. Slowly he moved it down until he brushed the rim of my leggings.
“Does watching them make my wife wet?” I inhaled a deep breath and clenched my jaw as his hand slid inside my leggings.
My legs spread without a second thought and he brushed his fingers across my swollen bud, then moved to my opening.
“Mhm, you are wet.” Nazai kissed the shell of my ear.
My eyes fluttered and I tried to focus. This wasn’t how tonight was supposed to go. My chest rose and fell quicker. My knees buckled when he pushed a finger inside of me. I could feel his dick hardening and pressing against my ass.
“Now, let’s see how good your focus is.” He grabbed my hand with his other hand and wrapped it around the gun, lifting it.
"Nazai," I whispered shakily. My thoughts were scattered and my eyes were unfocused.
“Shhhh. I think they’re about to finish,” he whispered.
I fought to keep my eyes open as he pushed another finger inside of me. He moved them in and out of me swiftly and skillfully. I clenched my walls around his digits.
Nazai’s finger fell on mine around the trigger. The gun leveled.
The girl let out a loud moan and the guy grunted as his body tensed. Sweat covered his bare, wide back.
I tasted blood as I bit into my bottom lip, fighting to keep the moan in my mouth as my body trembled. Pleasure shot through my body. My pussy exploded like an overfilled water balloon.
“Now.” He put pressure on my finger.
A faint sound left the gun and went through the back of the guy’s head.
The girl released a loud yell when his body fell on hers. She scrambled quickly, attempting to push him off her.
I fell forward when his hand left my leggings and leaned my head on the door frame. My breathing was heavy.
“Mhm.” Glancing over my shoulder I watched Nazai suck my juices off his fingers.
“You still got a job to do, Wildfire,” he said, nodding with mirth on his face.
Slowly, I turned back to the door opening, keeping my eye on how the girl grew more frazzled on the bed.
I blinked quickly then pushed out a deep breath. My hand was slightly shaky, but I quickly pushed the door open. She was now sitting against the headboard with the cover clenched tightly to her chest. Her eyes fell on me and bucked.
“What, what!” she stammered. I lifted my gun and pulled the trigger before she could get the sentence out. Her eyes stayed wide as life left her body instantly. A rush of adrenaline filled my body.
“I knew there was something about you that was being hidden.” Spinning around, I turned to face Nazai with a glower on my face. I ignored how my cum was running down my legs and the way my pussy throbbed.
“You shouldn’t be here!” I growled, gripping the gun tightly. Lifting it, I brushed the silencer over my temple.
He raised a brow. His eyes moved around me to the dead couple on the bed. He stepped toward me and snatched the gun out my hand before I could blink.
“What are you—” My words halted when his lips slammed into mine.
“Nothing’s hotter than watching you take lives. Fuck!” he muttered against my lips before savagely taking them again. His hand went to my side and he gripped it tightly. “Do you know how hard my dick is?” I moaned when he spun my body and slammed me against the wall.
“I shouldn’t be surprised from how you shot your gun the other day with expertise.” He bent down and nuzzled his face against the collar. “When I tracked you here, I thought I was gonna have to kill someone. Thought I’d catch you in here with another man. His blood was almost on your hands.” The thought of Nazai killing someone over me shouldn’t have made my pussy wetter but it did. It dripped down my leg like a leaky faucet.
“I gotta have you,” he groaned. Stepping back, he reached in front of my leggings and tugged, ripping them. My mouth parted and my nostrils expanded. Heat flooded my stomach. He removed himself from his jeans and grabbed me by the thighs, lifting me.
“Ah,” I cried when he lowered me onto his dick. It was painful at first. This was only the second time we’d had sex and he wasn’t gentle. He pushed me against the wall again and pumped in and out of me. My legs went around his waist and my arms looped around his neck. I couldn’t breathe as he fucked me mercilessly, his dick stabbing against my spot over and over.
“I swear I’ll never get enough of this pussy. So fucking wet and tight,” he gritted. “How do you feel knowing you’re getting off while two dead bodies lay only inches away?” I shifted my eyes to the bed behind him. My heart thumped painfully, soaring and threatening to leap out my chest.
I attempted to speak, but my words got caught in my throat.
“Soon I’ma have this pussy molded for my dick only. I’ma fill it with my cum, over and over, until you become swollen with my seed.” I moaned and closed my eyes. I was still taking my birth control pills so pregnancy wasn’t happening yet, but for a second I could picture it.
He lifted the gun and rubbed the butt of it down my arm. I whimpered and clenched my walls. My stomach tensed.
“I could end you right now, Wildfire, and no one would be the wiser. No one would even miss you besides Carson.” He pressed the gun to my neck.
The truth of his words caused something to twist inside of me.
“Ay, Jared. Man, where you at!” a voice called out.
My eyes snapped open and fell on Nazai. He didn’t look bothered though.
“Yeah, I hope you’re ready; we got another lick to hit,” another voice said.
Fuck, fuck.
“Uh, oh, Wildfire. Looks like we got company.” Nazai whispered in Spanish.
“Nazai!” I moaned.
“You better hurry up and cum unless you’re an exhibitionist too.” My eyes slid to the bed again. The thought of being caught didn’t scare me, but knowing I was fucking this job up made my chest tighten.
Nazai pushed the gun closer into my neck and thrusted his hips up, fucking me roughly.
“Jared!” the voice called out again, closer now.
My walls clenched. Sweat beaded on the back of my neck. My body tensed for a second before trembling as I came. I clung to Nazai’s neck.
“That’s my girl!” he grunted in Spanish and exploded inside me.
The two of us were breathing heavily. For a minute I forgot we weren’t alone. Nazai lifted me off him, causing me to wince. He brushed his hand over my collar just as the people appeared at the door.
“What the fuck!” My eyes whipped to the door.
The guy went to reach for his side. Before he could grab it, Nazai lifted my gun and pressed the trigger. His body dropped.
“The fuck!” the other voice called out.
When he became visible, Nazai shot him too. My brows shot to my hairline. I didn’t expect him to be such a good and quick shot. I licked my lips. It was hot seeing him use my gun easily. He didn’t bat an eye either.
He turned to me and leaned down, kissing me hungrily.
“Let’s go,” he said calmly, pulling back and bending to pull his pants up.
My brows furrowed. The way he just switched personalities and moods was eerie.
I grimaced, feeling his cum leak out of me.
My eyes bounced around the room. I noticed a tissue box on the dresser. Carefully, so nothing fell on the floor I walked over to it, wincing at the soreness. I picked a tissue out of the box and wiped myself.
“Yeah, gonna order a pepperoni pizza,” he said behind me. I spun around and noticed he was on the phone. I wasn’t sure why he thought this was the time to order pizza but I didn’t have time to think about it. His eyes landed on me.
I licked my lips, trying to gather myself. Pushing out a deep breath, I went into my bag and grabbed my signature card. On shaky legs I moved to the bed, placing the card there. Going back into my bag, I pulled my secured phone out, taking a picture and sending it.
“The Queen of Hearts,” Nazai said slowly, the realization hitting him as he eyed me.
Huffing, I didn’t have time to explain.
I pushed past him and started out the door. This had gotten more complicated than it was supposed to be. I had never been this messy on a job before. I hadn’t expected Nazai to show up either.
“Wait.” He stopped me before I could walk through the front door. He pulled off the shirt he had on and shoved it over my head.
Scrunching my face I put my arms through the holes then stared at him.
“No one but me needs to see you dripping of me.” Heat flooded my cheeks and I snatched the front door open.
We got outside and I saw River and a couple of other men outside. A cool breeze brushed over my lower lips through the shirt that went to my knees.
“What is this?” I spun around to face Nazai.
“They’re gonna handle the cleanup,” Nazai said, stepping next to me.
“How did they get here so fast?”
“You think I came here without backup? I didn’t know what I was walking into.” He smirked.
Rolling my eyes, I snatched my gun from him then stormed past them and headed for my car.
By the time I got to the car, Nazai had caught up to me. “Get in the passenger seat,” he told me once I tossed my things in the trunk.
Glaring at him, I stalked to the passenger side and got in. My work phone vibrated and I saw it was a message from my handler confirming payment had been sent.
“Looks like there’s more I need to learn about my wife,” Nazai said, starting the car.
I cut my eyes at him but didn’t say anything as I buckled my seat belt. I couldn’t think straight. The last twenty minutes had my mind jumbled. Nazai now knew my secret; that I’d followed in my parents’ footsteps. Now I wasn’t sure what to expect going forward.
