Chapter 26

Stone

I smirk as I lean against the wall and watch as Elsie moves her head from side to side, her eyes blinded from the tape Tank stuck on her as punishment for trying to bite him.

It’s been just over a week since she came running into the clubhouse claiming Rose had attacked her. Just over a week since she’s been held in here, only having a slice of bread and water throughout the day, no one talking to her, making her go even crazier with fear.

Her dad has contacted mine a few times, asking if we’ve seen her because obviously he hasn’t heard from her. Dad lied every single time, claiming we’re sorting our marriage out, appeasing him, but what the fucker doesn’t realize is his days are numbered.

I’ve spent a week getting to know his routine, his every step, and tonight, after his business partner has finished sucking him off, then allowing him to fuck his ass, I’m going to stab him in the heart, and unlike his daughter, I won’t miss.

“Hello?” Elsie croaks full of panic, clearly knowing she isn’t alone, and my smirk grows.

A week and she’s been sitting here, wondering when her time will be up, because she knows, there is no surviving this. She knows I had claimed Rose, she found the cut, and she knows she did the greatest sin a woman could do to a brother.

Attack his old lady.

Not that I ever gave Rose her cut. I was trying to win her heart back around, trying to make her see that we could be together, that I thought what I was doing at the time was the right thing to do. Not knowing how to tell her about this bitch, and now, we’re over, done, and this woman is to blame.

She opened my eyes and showed me I never should have brought Rose into this life, she showed me that I was selfish.

And now Elsie’s biggest problem isn’t the club, it isn’t my dad or hers, it’s me.

I’m a broken man, destroyed, and she’s going to suffer. I’m going to make sure of it.

I push off the wall and slowly stalk towards Elsie, her body trembling with fear, and the strong stench of piss hits my nostrils.

Guess the prospects hadn’t hosed her off yet.

“P-Please, j-just let me go. I-I won’t tell Stone, I promise. I’ll leave town and will never come back,” she trembles as I round her chair, coming up behind her.

It’s a lie, I know it and she knows it. As soon as she realizes Rose is still alive – in a coma, but still – she’ll finish the job before making a massive scene around town so I can’t kill her, to get my leather, and status.

In high school, everyone was scared of her, but I just saw her as a pest, just like I do now, a pest that needs exterminating.

I see her body tense as she physically sucks in a breath, and without care, I grab the edge of the tape and quickly pull it off her eyes.

Elsie screams as she thrashes her head from side to side, and I grin as I take a step back, throwing the tape, that has her false eyelashes attached, onto the concrete floor.

In all my time I’ve been VP for this club, we’ve never had a woman in here, heck, I think Dad had never had a woman in here either.

Traitors, yes, women no. They’d normally get kicked out of the club, banished, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Elsie sobs, “P-please let-let me go, please…”

“Now, where is the raging bitch from a week ago, Elsie?” I chuckle as I round her chair and stand before her.

Her body locks up as we lock eyes, and for the first time since we met, I finally see the fear in her dark brown eyes.

“S-Stone…” She trembles and I smirk as she lies, “I-I didn’t mean to hurt-hurt your mistress, p-please…”

Ah, yes, she still thinks we’re married, and while yes, I am married to Rose for now, she was never my mistress, and Elsie knows it. It’s what pissed her off to begin with. It’s what set off the chain of events to where we are now.

My heart is in the hospital, may never wake up, and I am self-destructing.

She saw Rose for what she was – my one – and that scared her because she knew her days around the club were numbered. She would no longer have that respect around town, she won’t get any money, not even from my sister, and it means daddy has to bail her out every time she fucks up.

After I’ve finally righted my wrong here, and as soon as Rose wakes, I’ll be handing her the divorce papers, freeing her of me, of the club, and then I’m leaving for a ride.

Don’t know how long for, but it’ll be long enough so Rose can move on from me and the shit I caused her.

“Hello ex-wife,” I murmur with a smirk.

Elsie swallows and stammers, “I-I’m your wife, y-you would-wouldn’t divorce me.”

“Why?” I ask, “Because James drugged my father and got him to fuck his ass?” Elsie freezes, and I mention, “Did you know your father fucks his partner's ass every night after letting him suck him off?”

Elsie begins to tremble, seeing that daddy’s little plan won’t help her here, and she begs, “Let me go, p-please. I-I’m still your wife.”

I smirk and hold my wedding finger up and show her the black ring as I state, “I haven’t worn the gold shitty ring for ten months.”

“Y-You bought-bought a new one?” She asks with a little bit of hope, but I chuckle as I shake my head at her stupidity.

“Actually, Elsie, ten months ago Judge Jones granted our divorce,” I admit, causing her eyes to widen, and I twist the knife in as I finish, “Then I had him marry Rose, and I… she is my wife, Elsie, you tried to kill a member of the Rebels.”

“No,” she whispers, and while she’s distracted, I bring the knife she used on Rose up before stabbing it into her knee.

Elsie screams in shock and pain, and I pull the knife out of her knee before stabbing it in her other one. I repeat the action over and over, going up both legs, twisting the blade each time I pull it out until her thighs are red from her blood, and she sobs and pleads.

“I-I loved you,” she lies as I pull the knife out of her upper thigh.

I sneer, “You loved the cut and what it represented. You hated that you couldn’t captivate me the way my wife did when we met,” I lean forward and admit, “I only had eyes for her, she took my breath away, and now, you’ll take your last.”

Just as I finish my sentence, I stab the knife hard into her chest, in the exact same place as Rose’s, so she can suffer, so she can panic and die a slow death.

Elsie struggles to catch her breath, her eyes wide as her body trembles, and I keep eye contact, so she knows all the decisions she made since high school led her here, to her death.

She shouldn’t have gone after Rose.

Two hours later, I slowly walk towards James’ office, the cubicles outside his door empty, the cameras blocked by Dirty, who is waiting for me downstairs.

My phone buzzing is the only thing I can hear, but I ignore it.

I have only one priority right now, and that is keeping Rose safe even after when I leave.

Elsie is dead.

She took longer than I thought she would, but she’s finally gone, the prospects are currently burning her body in the torture shack. Now James is going to join his daughter for his role in Rose’s attack, for his role in sexually assaulting my father.

My phone stops buzzing before going off again, but again I ignore it as I quietly touch the door handle and slowly push the door open. I find James leaning over his desk, typing away, the used condom from his lover, his wife has no idea about, sits on the floor.

She’ll be receiving divorce papers in the morning, being served, and left with everything because he ran off with his secret lover, taking Elsie with him, while his partner will be left out in the cold, shocked and alone.

Well, that’s the story Dirty is cooking up right now.

I’ll kill this fucker, the prospects will burn him and spread his ashes, and his wife won’t have the burden of his funeral. I am well aware that Elsie is not her biological child. She accepted her husband’s affair baby because the silly bitch just loved him too much, but could never bond with her.

She wins in this.

My phone buzzes again, and he looks up, his light brown eyes locking with mine before he smiles.

“Ah, if it isn’t my son-in-law,” he says with glee, “Come to tell me you’ve finally begun to start a family?”

I smirk and admit, “Actually, I divorced your daughter ten months ago and married someone else.”

His smile vanishes as he sneers, “Excuse me?”

I chuckle as I walk forward and explain, “I met this woman at the club, you know, Rebel’s Phoenix, and I was mesmerized and knew I had to have her.

After a week, I managed to get Judge Jones to grant the divorce without Elsie knowing and issue a marriage license.

I married Rose without a second thought. ”

James nostrils flare as he growls, “Your father –”

I cut him off and state, “Is perfectly happy with it,” shocking him before I lean over his desk and sneer, “And before you even try to threaten it, I know all about what you did to my father, and I also know you have no other evidence or proof like you claimed, Dirty wiped it!”

His pulse on his neck throbs as I bring up the bloody knife and I admit, “This is what I used to kill your daughter,” I look him in his shocked, scared eyes, “After she tried to kill my wife and now, you get the same treatment while your wife gets everything. After all of your close friends and relatives find out you’ve been fucking your business partner and his son… ”

“I-I…” he stutters, but then gasps as I thrust the knife into his heart before he can even stand.

His eyes widen, tears fall, and his body slumps back in his chair, blood coating his white shirt.

“Rot in hell, mother fucker,” I mutter as my phone buzzes again, and I shove away from James’ desk and turn and walk out of his office, knowing Dirty will send the prospects up.

Rose is now finally safe.

Ignoring Doc’s hundredth miscall tonight, I grip the papers I picked up from Judge Jones on my way here after speaking with Dirty about James’ body and confirming his wife gets everything. I walk through the staircase door, heading down the hallway.

She’s awake, that is what one of the many voicemails everyone has left me while I was busy on a killing spree said.

Rose is awake, and now I need to do what I promised myself and her I’d do, even if it kills me.

I come up to her room, a room I’ve yet to step into, knowing the guilt of what happened to her would eat me alive, and I’d self-destruct. I take a deep breath before walking inside.

I notice Doc and William looking relieved to see me, but they soon turn stoic, seeing what is in my hands.

It doesn’t take a genius to know what they are.

I ignore them and look towards the bed and lock eyes with Rose, the woman who showed me that the one really does fucking exist.

She has bags underneath her pretty eyes, she’s pale, and her hair is in a messy knot. Her body is covered with one of my shirts she stole months ago that I’m guessing Donna or Kimmy brought in for her.

She’s gorgeous and fuck me I’m going to miss her...

My heart is screaming at me not to do this, but my head knows this is the right decision.

“Where have you been?” she asks quietly when I don’t say anything, too busy taking her in before I leave, as her dad stands near the window watching with Doc.

Her voice, so fucking soft. I’ve missed it, I’ve missed her.

“Killing my ex-wife and her father,” I admit lowly, and Doc curses, “Fuck!”

Guess I should have told my Pres that today was the day my plan came into place.

Rose doesn’t break eye contact, she doesn’t even flinch at my admission. Instead, she asks, “Are you divorcing me?”

Well, someone has let the cat outta the bag, huh? Am I surprised? No, not really, but I’m pissed they didn’t let me speak to her.

Our relationship has fuck all to do with anyone else.

“I am,” I admit quietly as I hold up the papers, “I wanted to do it right, to wait until you woke up...”

“So it really was all a lie, huh?” she asks, confusing me until she accuses, “You never did love me.”

Anger fills me, and I growl, “You know full well that I loved you, still love you, and this is for your own good. As soon as you sign them, I’m gone and you won’t have to see me for a very long time.”

“Wait, what?!” Doc demands but Rose ignores him and whispers, “If you really did love me, you would have been here every day until I woke up, you wouldn’t be holding divorce papers, so you lied, you don’t love me,” her eyes tear and it fucking guts me as she demands softly, “Hand the papers to my dad and get out Stone.”

All the pain and anger that I’ve tried to suppress over the past week fills me, and I growl as I turn away from my heart and slam the divorce papers into William's chest, who whispers, “Don’t do this, Cage, you are not a danger to her.”

I ignore him and storm out of Rose’s room, out of her life for good, as Doc calls for me, and the urge to jump on my bike and ride off consumes me.

I’ve probably made the biggest mistake of my life, but it was the best decision for her.

I won’t be selfish anymore, it’s time to set her free from me.
