Chase Log
O verview:
Date: May 11th
Day Four : Omaha Nebraska to Salina, Kansas
Target: Salina Kansas
Intercepts: 1 Tornado, several miles west of Durham. Touched down approximately 17:37 and was on the ground for thirty-two minutes over open countryside. Tornado exhibited excellent structure and was highly photogenic.
Crew: Annie and Justin.
Notes: Planned to chase the slightly higher risk area in Iowa but Annie suggested Salina due to a marginally better environment favoring classic supercell structure. Went with Annie’s plan. Initial target area favored high-precipitation supercells and while many produced tornadoes, chasers in the area did not get clear shots, so it was a good call.
Anemometer broke. Fixed it, though I should throw it away and get a new one. Some things aren’t worth fixing.
