Chapter 19
CHAPTER NINETEEN
STORM
I stayed at Drix’s apartment for three days.
We both sent a message—me to my mom, and him to my dad—letting him know that we wouldn’t be around.
We lied, saying I just needed some space, and that I was going up to the cabin.
Drix had insisted on keeping watch, and Mom had of course video called within ten seconds of me messaging her to confirm that I was okay.
I assured her I was fine, and that the break away from the area would do me good.
She had argued at first, but then I guess she finally listened to me.
Well, those three days were up, and we were getting ready to return to the club.
I know Maisy would have a million questions for us.
I was more concerned what my dad would do to Drix.
Not that my mom would let him, and if he did lose his shit, that could cause all matter of shit between him and Cash, and my mom and Maggie.
I was praying it wouldn’t become messy, but let’s face it.
My dad was my dad, and my mom, well, she was about as stable as a land mine.
“Ready?” Drix asks, coming up beside me as I stared absently out of his apartment window.
I blink and give him a small smile. “I guess,” I sigh.
He cups the back of my neck and presses a kiss to my temple. “Just promise me you won’t get involved. If your dad wants to kick my ass, let him. I crossed a line, and I’ve got to face the consequences.”
I roll my eyes. “I’m an adult, not an item the club owns.
I wish they would just respect our decision.
Stupid club, stupid fucking rules!” I huff, pouting.
Drix chuckles and presses his mouth to mine.
My hands grab fistfuls of his T-shirt, deepening the kiss.
Every move of his mouth, every thrust of his tongue winds the tension higher.
He breaks the kiss and steps back, hunger fuelling his gaze.
“Fuck, BB. Do not kiss me like that in front of your fucking dad, or I will be dead,” he breathes.
“I make no such promises. You’ll just have to learn how to dodge his fist or a bullet,” I tease. He gives me a sarcastic look that says very funny. I grin and wink. “Come on, I’m desperate to get on the back of your bike,” I sing with happiness. “Oh, can we fuck on it?” I ask with excitement.
Drix groans and looks to the ceiling. “I swear, you’re going to kill me.” He looks back down and opens his front door.
“Why? I thought you’d want to fuck me on it. Would I be laid across it, or should I straddle your lap and do my best to bounce,” I tease.
He whirls around, his hand wrapping around my throat as he pins me against the wall.
Leaning in,he brushes his nose against mine.
“BB, please fucking stop. I don’t want to be having a conversation with your dad while I’m rock hard, thinking about your perfect tits bouncing while you ride my dick on the back of my bike.
My face is a mask of pure innocence. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t think.”
“Hhmmm,” he hums, seeing through my bullshit.
He leads me down to his bike, handing me a helmet.
I put it on while he climbs on his bike and starts it up.
Feeling excited, I jump on the back, wrapping my arms around his waist as he slowly pulls off and out of the parking lot.
I close my eyes, feeling the warm summer’s breeze dance across my face.
For the first time in a month, no darkness enters my mind.
No fear. My body feels relaxed. I hadn’t had a single nightmare staying with Drix.
I felt a happiness I don’t think I’ve ever felt until now. Until him.
The ride doesn’t last long until we are turning into the compound. The row of bikes and trucks means everyone is here, which means it isn’t a simple case of just telling Mom and Dad. We will have to tell the entire club. Fuck.
Once he’s come to a stop, I get off and unclasp the helmet before handing it to him. He doesn’t look nervous; he looks like he would any other time. “Are you not shitting your pants just a little bit?” I ask.
He smirks. “No. They could kick the shit out of me for a week if they wanted to, and I would still be fine with it as it would mean I get you.” He winks.
“I swear, I had no fucking idea you were this romantic,” I state, staring at him with a look in my eye that said I wanted to mount him right here, right now.
“Like I said, I’d rather not die, so get that look off your face for a start. Your dad sees that look, he will have me stung up by my ball sack and have you sent to a convent.”
I laugh, which makes his grin deepen. He drapes his arm over my shoulders as we turn to face the entrance. “You ready for this?” he asks.
I exhale a breath. “Let’s get this shit over with.
” We walk in, the sound of the music from the jukebox greeting us.
As soon as we step into the main bar area, Rage’s eyes land on us.
His assessing amber eyes look from Drix, to me, then back again.
He just lifts his chin and lets out a grunt before turning his attention back to whatever it was he was doing.
I look to Drix and shrug. So far, so good. “Church, now!” Dad bellows, catching us completely off guard. My gaze looks to the left, and I see my dad stood there with a murderous gaze aimed at Drix. I move to stand in front of him, but Drix halts me, shaking his head.
“It’s okay,” he assures me, seemingly unbothered. He presses a kiss to my temple before he follows Dad, Rage just behind him.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let Prez kill him. Just toy with him a little,” Rage says, like it’s some kind of assurance.
I stand in the empty room, wondering where the hell everyone else is. I would have thought Mom would have been out here giving me shit the moment we stepped over the threshold.
“Outisde now,” I hear Mom call. I turn around to find her stood behind me.
There we go. I follow her outside to where all the ol’ ladies are gathered, sat on the benches. That’s when I notice the various empty bottles of wine scattered about. I stop before them, my gaze flickering to Maggie, who looks like she’s about to cry.
“Er, what’s going on?” I ask.
Mom looks at me. “I know you are with Hendrix. We all know that you are with him.”
“Well, we did walk in there together, and he did kiss me,” I say, pointing out the obvious.
“I knew when I video called you. Next time you want to try and lie to me, or to your dad, maybe do it when there isn’t a picture of Maggie and Cash in the background.” Ffffuuucccckkk. Mom grins, seeing my expression.
“Did Dad know?” I sk.
Mom nods. “Yep, and it’s taken all of us to convince him not to go and drag you out and kill Drix. You wouldn’t believe the shit we’ve had to pull to keep him distracted.” Mom sighs.
“Your mom’s right. Spending a night in the cell was not fun,” Josie sighs, shaking her head.
“It wasn’t that bad,” Mom says, rolling her eyes.
“Star, the crackhead took a shit, then carried it around the cell cradling it like a baby,” Belle points out.
“It was worse for me. She wanted me to kiss its head!” Alina adds, shaking her head as she drinks from her wine glass.
“You didn’t kiss the shit baby,” Mom sighs.
“No, I didn’t. I just got a close up look of it, and told her I couldn’t as I had a cold, I didn’t want the baby to get sick,” Alina snaps back.
“At least she clearly has good fibre in her diet.” Dixie shrugs. We all look at her with a look of confusion. She rolls her eyes. “Because it was a solid pope,” Dixie says, rolling her eyes at us like we should have thought of that. Not realising she said pope instead of poop.
I shake my head and pinch the bridge of my nose. “What are they going to do to Drix?” I ask.
They all exchange a look. “When we asked, we were told it was club business.” Rhea shrugs.
“Mom.” I look at her with pleading eyes to do something.
She shakes her head. “Don’t look at me with those doe eyes.
If I interfere, your dad will explode. Don’t get me wrong, I love to piss him off on the best of days, but this...
” She pauses, shaking her head. “This has to be figured out by them. Hendrix is a smart lad, and as much as your dad thinks he wants to kill him, he won’t.
He will be secretly happy that you two are finally together.
The only thing he doesn’t like is you lying to us and spending three days fucking like rabbits before you decide to come and tell us.
” She shrugs before pulling me into a hug.
She places a chaste kiss on the top of my head.
I roll my bottom lip through my teeth, my eyes wondering to the clubhouse, wondering what they are doing to Drix.
“I heard what happened to that biker over at the Satan’s Outlaws MC getting with a brother’s widow. They chained him up and beat the shit out of him,” Nova states, shaking her head back and forth.
My eyes widen. “What?” I breathe.
She waves me off. “Oh, sweetie, I don’t think that will happen here,” she quickly assures.
Maggie grunts. “Yeah, my brothers ol’ lady.”
Everyone goes silent. “Shit, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—” Nova apologises, but Maggie cuts her off.
“Don’t be silly. Serena is happy now, and it’s not like Rubble went there within a week, or even a month. She deserves to be happy, and my niece deserves a good guy to raise her. Plus, the ol’ ladies went to get him out of the chains.” She smirks.
“They did?” I ask.
She nods. “Yeah, they didn’t think it was right, and went to get him out.”
Mom arches her brow, looking at each of them. “Fuck, no, Star. Just no,” Elsie protests.
“Oh, come on. We haven’t done anything like this in ages,” Mom protests.
“We were literally in prison yesterday,” Alina argues.
Mom shrugs. “Oh, come on, live a little. In ten years time we will be old, unable to do this shit. Plus, it will be a good lesson for the kids,” she urges.
“We have to help him,” I plead, having horrific visions of Drix chained up while each club member beats him. I give them all my best doe eyes.
Josie is the first to cave. “I will ring Maisy.”
