Chapter Nineteen

Kian

Stepping out onto the metal staircase, I gaze down at the woman who’s destined to be mine, and I can’t hold back my grin.

She is, without a whisper of a doubt, Pack Orion’s one true mate.

And each step I take toward her only strengthens my certainty.

When I get close, she looks my way, and the second she returns my smile my heart skips a beat.

“You made it!” I exclaim, stopping in front of her.

“Thanks to your driver,” she tells me, her pretty blue eyes sparkling when her gaze meets mine.

Neither of us say a word while seconds flicker by.

She’s beautiful, but I already knew that.

The allure that makes her ours goes deeper, and I can’t wait to discover all of her.

A loud cough at my right captures my attention, and I realize the driver needs me to get out of his way so he can load her small suitcase onto the jet. I apologize as I let him pass, and then I look back at her.

“I’m Kian,” I introduce. “And you must be …”

“Sapphire Faris,” she blurts, her cheeks flushing. “I know who you are.”

Of course she does, she’s a reporter. She’s probably got info sheets on all of us, too. Reporters do their research before they interview people, dummy.

“Right,” I say, nodding.

The driver’s coming back down the staircase as I try to think of something else to say that won’t sound incredibly stupid. He’s getting back into the limo while I’m lost for words.

It’s not until he starts his engine, that I snap out of my doubts.

I offer her my arm, and after a second of hesitation she takes it.

“We’re almost ready for take-off.”

“Then I’m glad I didn’t miss the flight.”

Okay, that was a little better.

I lead her up the stairs, heart hammering as I think about the next phase of my crazy plan.

She’s here, she actually came, and we’re about to leave.

This is really happening now.

Our mate is with us, right where she belongs.
