Chapter One-Hundred-Twenty

Scarlett

Riley’s romantic proposition takes me by surprise. His soft, slow kiss only deepens my desire to have him claim me, and I can tell he’s feeling it when we break apart, but he doesn’t change his mind. He wants it to be special. What woman could say no to that?

“You know, I used to be kinda afraid of the M word,” I admit.

He raises an eyebrow. “The M word?”

“Mates,” I clarify.

He laughs. “You? Afraid? I can’t picture that.”

“Well, it just looked like me never going beyond a fling with any guy. But I think it was rooted in my feelings about being an Omega.”

“You were uncomfortable with being an Omega,” he says. “So, you were uncomfortable with the idea of mates.”

“Pretty much. I never asked to be an Omega, and I didn’t want to think about anything it might entail. And I know some Betas have true mates, and there are chosen mates, but I just didn’t want anything to do with any of that.”

“And now, here you are, with three claimed mates, and a fourth ready to be claimed.” He gives me a wry smile. “Is it as scary as you thought?”

I laugh. “No, but that’s because you were meant for me.

Realizing that changed everything. I’ve never been that into any of the men I’ve met, but the four of you …

I started to study music after I heard your debut single.

I felt a connection even then. I didn’t think it was gonna run this deep, but I also don’t think there’s any other guy out there I would have said yes to being claimed by. ”

“Good, because no one else ever gets to come near you now,” he warns.

“Oh, I’m good with that.”

We both turn when the bedroom door bursts open.

“Did we miss anything?” Kian asks as he rushes back to his seat opposite mine.

Trick closes the door before he comes over and settles back into his seat.

“The air-mattress is ready.”

“It’ll be great for Trick and Riley to share,” Kian says quickly.

Trick rolls his eyes. “Yeah, yeah.”

“Actually, I’m gonna stay awake and watch over the weather tonight,” Riley tells them.

He winks at me, and I smile back at him.

I guess that’s how he’s gonna know when the time is right to wake me.

“Even better,” Kian says. “Trick can have the air-mattress all to himself.”

“Actually, I think Xane wanted to share the bed with me alone tonight,” I tell him, knowing I’m the only one besides Xane who can burst his bubble.

I know I’m gonna have to be able to get up and leave the room quietly, to avoid Ki trying to tag along, so I definitely can’t have him curled up next to me all night.

He pulls a face, then lets out a sigh. “What’s the process for becoming lead Alpha? Do I have to challenge Xane to a duel or something?”

Riley laughs. “You want to be lead Alpha? You’d be bored of the decisions within a week.”

“More like two days,” Trick says, shrugging when Kian gasps.

“It’s one night,” I reassure Kian.

“Yeah,” he says with another sigh.

It’s nice to feel so wanted, I’m not gonna lie.

These little quarrels are nothing compared to the shit Karma stirs up back in Silver Valley.

I guess I won’t need to worry about Karma’s dramas when I move in with my mates.

Though, it does kinda bring up at least one question that I doubt these guys have an answer for.

“So, once we’re checking out of the resort,” I start.

Trick raises an eyebrow at me. “Once we’re checking out?”

“I mean, we’ll get there somehow,” I tell him, sure of that.

“Right,” Kian backs me up. “We will.”

“So, after that, what’s gonna happen? Like where are we gonna live, as a pack?”

I already know they don’t own any property, and they’ve been touring way too much so the whole hotel room trail has to end sooner rather than later, but I have no idea what this relationship looks like once we’re back in the real world.

“The tour bus?” Trick murmurs quietly.

Riley shakes his head. “Don’t be a dumbass.”

I look from Kian to Trick to Riley, and back again, and they all seem stumped.

A few seconds later, Kian shrugs. “That’s a lead Alpha question, for sure.”

He seems satisfied with that answer.

I’m not, but I guess I’ll have to wait for Xane to be done with his work to ask him.
