Day 128
Eve
We went to Vegas today, and it was so… disturbing. Every building felt like a giant as it towered over us. Without people to inhabit them, the streets and skyscrapers seemed ominous, unnecessarily vast. Like towers of Babylon that never should have been created.
A peeling billboard read, YOU ARE GOING NOWHERE, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was somehow meant for us.
We’re driving to the Grand Canyon now. We’ll probably walk around for a bit, appreciate the view, then head back west to California.
Adam seems to get lost in thought whenever I mention the area, but I’m giving him time. He did smile at me when I asked him about surfing, a true, genuine smile, and said that he has close to zero experience himself, but that he’ll try to teach me.
He refused to let me return the favor after that day on the Ferris wheel, but I want to. Maybe soon. I want to touch him. My fingers ache at the thought.
