One Year Later

The Miami Source

If you are a soccer fan in Miami, then your weekend just got a little better.

FMU senior Slater Thorne was selected as the number one pick for Inter Miami over the weekend.

Thorne has been named player of the year multiple times and won the MAC Hermann Trophy in both his junior and senior years.

Thorne promises to add talent to an already stacked roster.

Thorne has been a popular player in the NCAA, and it comes as no surprise that he’ll be playing professionally next year.

Thorne’s girlfriend, Tessa Parker, a sophomore at FMU studying sports journalism and known campus-wide as a popular student reporter, was at his side for the big weekend.

When asked how she feels about Thorne being picked, she said she was happy for him and not at all surprised.

Thorne said she knows more about his stats than he does, and he loves her for it.

When we asked the young couple if they are talking marriage anytime soon, they declined to comment. But we will be keeping an eye on these two lovebirds. Next year’s soccer season can’t come soon enough.
