I Was the First of My Kind
The children of Gods
were meant to be Gods.
This law was established
by Kronos in the infancy of his rule,
a reign that was born
after my own birth.
Other than my strange appearance,
I had shown no powers
all through my childhood.
No one knew then
that the way to bless
children with divine powers
was to determine their gifts
from the moment they were born.
It was Kronos who created
the ritual of blessing our children.
It was under his decree
our favours were given to us.
Our fathers were meant to put
their hands to our heads,
bless us with the knowledge
of what Gods are meant to do.
I had received no such blessing,
so the name for what I was did not yet exist.
