23. A Strange Quiet Breeze
A Strange Quiet Breeze
It couldn’t have risen
from the azure calm of the ocean
and it could not have come
from a still-cooling sky.
And yet it persisted,
calm and gentle, till I looked around
to see where it was coming from.
I found it then, that hidden solace.
I rose from where I lay
in the wet sand and felt the breeze
on my face, dampening my anger.
My sharp eyes followed its trail.
I began to walk
in its direction. There, inside
the cliffs Gaia had crafted into the earth,
was an opening where seawater
flowed in freely. And it
was glowing.
