32. Fear
Fear
I had never known it
until this day.
Never felt the way
it could wrap around
your very bones
like a serpent holding
its prey, just before
it sinks its fangs
deep into its neck.
The voices in my head,
usually whispers,
began to scream.
My heart felt like
it would burst
from my chest
as I thrashed about.
It was true,
I could not die,
but imagine an eternity
imprisoned undersea
in this dark cave,
never to see the night sky
or stars ever again.
