115. Dawn

Dawn

When rosy-fingered Eos

rose across the horizon

and soft gilded light fell

across the oceans and all

the secrets they held within,

Asteria and I returned to the palace

to find Leto, Pallas, and Perses

waiting for us upon the stairs.

Asteria’s parents were nowhere to be seen.

Leto told us, ‘They do not want us to go.’

I hissed at these words,

‘It is not their choice to make.

We will go where we please.’

Pallas gently took my hand.

‘I promise we will find her,’

he told me, his amber eyes

like molten-hot liquid,

filled with the promise

of hope and love.

I smiled tiredly at him

and turned to Perses.

‘How will we travel?’

Perses looked over the horizon.

‘Our brother Astraeus’s children,

the Anemoi.’
