A Hush Fell Over All the Deities Assembled
It felt as though an era passed
before Oceanus continued,
his voice as dark as an oncoming storm.
‘We have received word that Kronos,
our God-King, is under attack.’
A gasp rose from all of us.
I turned to Styx, my heart clenched.
Our eyes connected and we knew:
Metis had failed to stop Zeus.
As we had since we were girls,
we reached for each other’s hands.
I clasped her cold fingers tight,
trying to soothe us both
as fear coursed through us.
Oceanus took a deep breath.
‘For an age now, we have all been
visited by many prophecies,
blessings from Chaos herself.
It is now time for us to face
what these prophecies mean.
Kronos’s rule has been challenged.’
But before he could say more,
the large, heavy doors swung open.
