A Terrible Revelation

Styx’s eyes widened and she stepped back.

My own heart felt so heavy, as though

it contained the entire weight of the sea.

‘You have already had the ceremony?’

I asked her, my voice raw with pain.

She was staring at us still with that distant gaze.

‘I am carrying his child,’ she said simply.

‘And I am to be his queen of Gods.

I will rule beside him.’

The silence that followed her words

filled me with fear. Metis was impassive.

Styx stared at her and her eyes narrowed.

‘Metis,’ she hissed, ‘he does not even

have a realm of his own yet. Rule where?’

Our sister’s face broke into a smile that sent

shudders down my spine. ‘The children

of Kronos have chosen Olympus as their home.

They no longer wish to be called Titans.

They are called the Olympians.’

She looked at me and took my hand gently.

‘You could all join us.’ She turned to Styx.

‘We could use your might

in the coming storm.’
