Chapter 4

FOUR

ANDREA

My Big Guy was standing in front of Mei and Bulwark, another alien who wasn't interested in me, who didn't want me.

Before the Big Guy showed up, I'd made it clear to Bulwark that I was available, but he never even glanced at me.

He only had eyes for Mei, following her around like a fan desperate for a signature, both eager and afraid of getting closer.

My heart plummeted in my chest.

I'd been here before, watching the guy I'd just hooked up with go after some other girl who had a guy already. It hurt to watch him be rejected, but it hurt even more that I felt for him.

It wasn't just one time. I'd had that moment twice, and I knew it when I saw it, a familiar cycle I couldn't seem to escape.

"Leave," my Big Guy said, his eyes focused on me, despair in his voice. "Andrea, leave."

That was different.

Normally they ignored me, pretended like they barely knew me, like I didn't matter to them. They didn't look at me like their heart was breaking in front of me, like it was me who was the reason for it.

I took another look at the group.

Mei was pointing a janky-looking length of metal and wires at my Big Guy, and Bulwark had his arm up, an alien gun hanging down out of the cavity that had opened up in his flesh.

This wasn't the same thing. I blinked, clearing my mind of the assumptions I had made without knowing anything about what was going on.

"What are you all doing?" I asked, moving closer to put my hand on my Big Guy's arm. His entire body tensed as he stared at my hand for a long moment.

Bulwark pointed his gun to the side, no longer aiming it at my Big Guy now that I was in the way.

That was what I loved about these aliens.

They did whatever they had to protect us.

Lyssa's guy had put himself in between her and the blast from a shuttle's engine, burning most of the skin off his back.

She was lucky to have a real man like that.

Sucks that he was now just another corpse in Sara's creepy room, but even so, to have a man like that for even a moment made her a lucky woman.

I could never seem to keep a man for longer than it took to give him head.

I pressed my body against my Big Guy, pinning his arm to his side as I wrapped my arms around him, resting my head against his bicep. He shuddered and closed his eyes, swaying for a moment like he was unsteady.

"Talk to me," I pleaded.

"Get away from him, Andrea," Mei said. "He still has a chip in his brain forcing him to do things. He is dangerous."

"Listen to her," my Big Guy said. "You're in danger if you get in the way of my orders."

"I'd never get in the way of your orders," I told him. "What do you need to do? I'll help you do it."

"Prove it," he said, putting his hand on top of my head and pushing down. "Get your hands on my makeshift focused heat projector."

It was my bat signal.

I'd heard a lot of names men had given their extraneous body parts, but heat projector was a new one.

My stepdad always said that men were stupid when it came to women and women shouldn't listen to what they said.

I knew he meant it in terms of when they were insulting you, but I found that advice to be handy about a lot of things.

I grabbed the edge of his metallic trousers.

They were an interesting fabric, feeling like metal but having the flexibility of fabric.

There was a small latch, a little button that would release the front and allow the entire thing to slide off easily.

I found it quickly, pressing my finger to it, and the front of his trousers snapped open.

"If you don't want a show, it's time for you to leave," I said, giving Mei a wink back over my shoulder. "My man has needs."

I didn't wait for Mei's response.

I didn't waste time.

Men loved it when I went in like a shark going for its prey. A quick lunge with the head would give them a brief moment of terror that would accent the physical pleasure when I got to work.

I pulled his heat projector free, admiring the soft scale pattern that ran along the top of it.

I already knew from previous experience of putting that weapon in my mouth that the scales there were as soft as skin and were a pleasant texture.

I really wanted to feel them inside of me, but first I needed to give my man what he was asking for.

His heat projector was hardening and softening in my hands like it had the last two times, pulsing like his body was fighting against the inevitable.

I dove in and wrapped my lips around it, coating it with my saliva as I ran my tongue up and down his length.

His taste was divine, a little salty, a little bit like butter.

I couldn't wait until he gave it to me properly, and I gave him a good, hard suck, bobbing my head to get as much of him in my mouth as possible.

Then he gave a familiar groan, and fell backward, his heat projector slipping free from my grasp as I whined with the unfairness of it all.

"Why do you keep passing out?" I shrieked at his prone body.

"Haven't you been listening to anything we've talked about in the group meetings?" Mei demanded.

I turned around to see her still there, Bulwark beside her. He was looking at me with wide eyes, an expression I wasn't used to seeing on a man who had observed me doing my thing with another. Normally, men looked eager. They almost always already had their own weapons out, ready for their turn.

Bulwark didn't look aroused; he looked worried.

"Those meetings are dumb," I said, crossing my arms. "The men will figure that stuff out for us; we don't need to stress about any of that."

"I don't understand you at all," Mei muttered, and it wasn't the first time I'd heard something like that, but I didn't care about what those jealous bitches had to say. She let out a heavy sigh and looked up at the ceiling.

"Do you know why he passed out?" I asked Bulwark. I'd rather talk to a man anyway. "What am I doing wrong?"

"You overloaded his biological suppression system," Bulwark said.

"How do I not overload it?" I asked. He was the same type of alien as my Big Guy, so he should know the answer. "I just want to make this good for him, and I can't if he keeps passing out."

"By removing his control chip," Bulwark said.

"Sara needs to do that," Mei said. "You'll have to take him to her."

"If Sara operates on him, then this will stop happening?" I demanded.

"Yes, Andrea," Mei said, with that tone of voice I hated, that one that sounded like the other person was tired of talking to me and just decided to agree with me to get me to go away.

"Fine!" I snapped. "I'll take him to Sara."
