Chapter Nineteen
Ches
I woke up before Grant. At least, listening to his breathing told me he was still resting. Our hotel room was in a suite with two bedrooms which was disappointing but also very sweet. He hadn’t assumed anything. A complete gentleman, even last night in the club.
The night before was eye-opening. I didn’t realize that a bit of pain mixed with pleasure could be so satisfying. I’d definitely discovered a part of myself I’d never known about before and couldn’t wait until the next time I got to experience the club with Grant.
To go to bed alone after what we shared was a bit disappointing, I had to admit.
The whole night was intimate in a way that I didn’t know was possible.
Even though the club was packed with patrons, it was just me and him for most of it.
The rest of the people, the noise, and the music faded away, and all that was left was my mate standing in front of me.
Then he said good night, and my heart broke.
What in the world was he waiting for?
I’d left my door open, hoping he would come in during the night, but he didn’t. Soon after I woke, I heard him moving about, and then he knocked lightly on the door. “Good morning,” he said. “Have you been awake long?”
“Only a few minutes,” I said, sitting up.
“I ordered some brunch to be delivered.”
The awkwardness settled in, and I hated every second of it. We were mates. I was sure of it more than ever after the night before. So why the hesitation? “Thank you, Grant.”
“Of course.” He came over and sat on the edge of the bed only inches from me. “Did you have a good time last night?”
Heat overtook my cheeks. “Yes. Did you?”
His gaze caressed me without touching. I wanted his hands on me so badly, I could taste it in my mouth. “I enjoyed it very much. I thought we could eat and then shift together. My wolf wants to meet yours. He’s been growling at me about it since I met you.”
“Has he? Mine has been too. Not growling but really impatient about, well, everything about you.”
He leaned in and my veins filled with heat. He’d kissed me several times, but this time I was in bed, with nothing on but the pricey boxers he’d bought me at the resort.
Just before his lips met mine, there was a knock at the door. We both laughed. “That will be breakfast, omega. Come on, let’s eat and shift and then we’ll return to this.”
I leaned back against the headboard. “Promise?”
He nodded and stoked my face. “I promise.”
We ate brunch together until I was about to pop. Grant said he knew a place right outside of the city where we could shift. We arrived there soon and got out of the car. The place was a big forest, which was refreshing since we’d been in the city and before that the desert resort.
It had been a while since I saw something that resembled the pack I once knew.
“Are you shy?” he asked, already taking off his shirt.
“Not with you. Not anymore.”
Grant nodded. “That’s good, omega. You first. I want to see your wolf.”
I took off my clothes, and Grant zoned in on every move and shifted. He crouched and ran his hands through my fur. The feeling was pure love. Adoration. It flooded my system and filled me with need. I needed this alpha in my life. Not because of what he could give me but for who he was.
I yipped at him, urging him to shift as well.
Once we were both in wolf form, we ran until the afternoon waned and I was starving. For food, yes, but more for my mate.
If I had to throw myself at him, that was what I was going to do.
The bond grew while we were shifted and my wolf submitted to the fact completely. He was our fated mate, and I wanted to give all of myself to him. Everything. All the pieces I protected. All the parts of me that I shied away from.
All of it.
“Do you want to go eat?” he asked when we got back into the car. He hadn’t stopped touching me since we were back on two legs.
“No, alpha. I want you to take me back to the hotel and spend the afternoon making me yours.”
He turned in the seat. There was no way this was a surprise to him. Especially after shifting. His wolf was mad for me and so was he. “Are you sure? I was giving you time to heal after you were taken. Giving you space to recover.”
“I’m recovered plenty, Grant.” Dread spread over me. “Unless you don’t want to. If you don’t think you’re mine, I…”
He didn’t say anything until we were back at the hotel and alone in the elevator. As soon as the doors closed, he pressed me against the wall. “Omega, I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life. I knew you were mine that night I saved you and it’s been torture keeping my distance.”
I grazed my hand over his groin. He was rock-hard and his cock bounced with my touch. “No more torturing either of us, alpha. Make me yours.”
