Chapter 10
Summer
“Have you got enough shade here?” Ridge asks as he adjusts the large umbrella.
“I’m fine.” Though I’m touched that he cares and looks out for me.
He has told me many, many times over the past week how much he loves my freckles.
In fact, he has spent some time exploring my body looking for freckles.
And it’s nice he doesn’t want to see me get sunburnt.
He is also a little worried about leaving me here with his brother’s partners.
But the other women had insisted we have a girls day at the beach and I want Ridge to spend some time with his brothers while everyone is here together for the summer.
We can’t actually spend all the time in bed, despite his promise to spend the whole time fucking me.
But his attempts to fulfill that promise have left me grinning (and moaning and sighing) for most of the time. In fact, I’ve never been happier.
But, as well as a handsome mountain man, I have also finally gained female friends around my own age.
Ridge is the last of the Kingsley men to settle down.
So I have five fantastic new friends to hang out with.
To laugh with. To share gossip and stories with.
Over the past week I have been welcomed into the Kingsley family with open arms and open hearts.
“She is fine, Ridge. We will take good care of her while you men go off and enjoy the lake. We promise that we won’t tell her all your secrets.
” Annie says. She is dating Ridge’s older brother Thorne, a man just as dark, handsome and serious as Ridge.
Whereas Annie is pure joy and sunshine and always laughing.
And when Thorne looks at her and smiles, anyone can see that those two are meant for each other.
Brandy, who is married to Ridge’s cousin, sits down with her cocktail. “Yeah, don’t worry. We won’t tell Summer that your whole fake dating plan was just a ploy to get to know her.”
We all laugh. Including Ridge who has already admitted as much to me while we were in bed.
He said he was obsessed with me the moment he saw my ass up on the roof.
Ridge scoops me up in his arms and kisses me deeply before finally putting me back on my feet with a whispered promise of more of that to come later.
And then us girls wave off our men and settle in for some girl time while lying out in the sun. Everyone of us feeling loved and included and glad that we have all ended up as family and fast friends.
