Chapter 24
Bailey wasn't scared, but Matt did seem to want to rush things. If Bailey said he wanted to take things slow, he would be lying. He wanted a future with him, and for them to have some time together tonight.
That evening, Bailey arranged for dinner on the beach for the two of them though they had some egg rolls with Joey when he had his takeout. Later Bailey asked Matt to helped Joey get ready for bed while he went outside to get things ready for their dinner.
He put the table from the porch on the sand not too far from the house and set out plates. He then went inside to kiss Joey goodnight. They waited until he was asleep to go outside. Grandpa had an old fashioned lantern and Bailey lit it and put it in the center of the table.
"A proper romantic dinner," Matt said.
"I wanted candles but they would just blow out," Bailey said as the breeze coming off the ocean picked up to prove him right.
"This is good. I have no complaints," Matt said as he started on the filet mignon and the small buttery potatoes with purple carrots and roasted radishes.
They had wine too. After they each had a glass, Matt gazed at him over the table. Waves splashing softly on the sand was the only sound for a moment then Matt said, "I don't mean to always be pushing you."
"You aren't. I love you," Bailey told him.
"I love you too, and I'm sorry about this," Matt said as he stood up from the table then came around to him. He got on one knee in front of Bailey and clasped his hand. "Will you marry me, Bailey?"
"Really? You waited less than a day," Bailey said.
Matt wasn't apologetic, telling him, "If you didn't want a proposal, you shouldn't have set the scene."
"I guess then it's my own fault, so I better say yes," Bailey said and pulled Matt closer so he could hug him as he still kneeled in the sand.
Bailey had tears in his eyes, and when he took Matt's face in his hands to kiss him, he saw that Matt was teary-eyed too.
As Bailey kissed him and stroked his face, Matt shuddered and then he started crying outright.
Clinging to Bailey, he was sobbing, "I'm sorry, I'm so happy.
You make me so fucking happy. Oh fuck, I'm ruining a special moment with cursing. "
Hugging him tight, Bailey told him, "You're not ruining anything. You're perfect. And I want to marry you more than anything."
They kissed and Matt pulled Bailey down into the sand. They couldn't do more than kiss there though.
They made love inside, in Bailey's bed with the window letting in a cool breeze from the ocean. Only the moon lit their bodies as they undressed slowly, kissing constantly. When they were finally naked, they fell into the bed.
Their bodies were entwined, skin against skin, heat building up between them while the ocean breeze cooled them a little. As they kissed deeply, Bailey's heart was pounding in time with Matt's. Bailey loved how his muscular body covered him, and Matt pushed his hands up over his head.
Matt wanted to kiss and touch him everywhere, caressing him, driving Bailey wild with painful need. When Bailey thought he couldn't take anymore, Matt entered him with a steady push, his eyes locked on Bailey's for every second of it.
Bailey stifled a cry and bit Matt's shoulder so he could stay quiet as Matt set a steady, relentless rhythm. He was making Bailey shudder under him, claw at him. When he was able to keep his voice down to a low moan, Bailey begged for more.
It was amazing, endlessly rising on waves of pleasure, desperate not to let it end.
Bailey just wanted more and more of Matt, hard, big, moving inside him and then he couldn't take any more.
Matt had driven him past the edge and now they were coming, moaning each other's names, gasping, "I love you. "
"Good morning, future husband," Matt said in his ear.
Hearing those words as he woke up, Bailey didn't think any of this could be real. Matt licking his way down his chest and then sucking him off only made Bailey more sure he had to be living a dream. He was going to be married to this man. This couldn't be his life.
When he got to taste every inch of Matt's body, he was even more sure of it. "I think I'm going insane with happiness," he told Matt once they were both satisfied and ready to jump into the shower together.
"I'm happy too and it's all your doing," Matt said.
True to form, Matt couldn't wait to tell everyone they were getting married. Of course they wanted to announce their engagement to Joey before anyone else.
After breakfast and their morning swim, Bailey and Matt sat with Joey in the sand with their feet in the water. Bailey asked him, "How would you like to throw us a party?"
Right away, Joey gave them a very enthusiastic "Yes!"
"You don't even ask why?" Bailey noted. And Joey still didn't ask, so Bailey gave him the news. "The party is for me and Matt because we're engaged. We're going to get married and be husbands."
Joey was so happy, hugging them both. "Now Matt is never going to go away!"
"Were you worried about that?" Matt asked him.
Joey nodded and hugged Matt. While he hung onto him, he asked, "Is Matt going to be my dad? Am I gonna have two dads?"
"Sure. We're going to be a family," Matt said then he looked at Bailey like he realized they should have talked about that. "Uh, right?"
Smiling and putting his arms around both of them, Bailey confirmed it. "Yes. We'll be a family."
They invited Gwen to lunch with all three of them to share the news. When she heard they were engaged, she told Matt, "You should have called me the second it happened, not waited till the next day."
"I wanted to see your face and hug you," Matt told her, and there was hugging all around. She was very happy for them.
"Gwen is going to be family now too," Bailey told Joey and he was thrilled.
"All the people I like the best are in our family! Yay!" Joey said.
Finding out about the party Joey was throwing for them, Gwen volunteered to help him plan it. "It's going to be some party," Matt said.
On the way back to the house, Bailey shared the news with friends and family. Carrie said she and the kids would come down for the party celebrating their engagement. Bailey was thrilled about that and Joey was too.
When he texted his friend Verna, she called back to congratulate him. She also demanded, "Recap every second of this proposal."
Bailey didn't, he just gave her the short version, "Matt proposed and I said yes."
"Of course you said yes," Verna said. "I've seen pictures of your guy. The answer to any question he asks you is yes."
At the news, Kyle texted back and called him a dirty dog and asked, "How did you do it? How the hell do you snag a guy like that?" He had also seen pictures of Matt and now he was pretty much insulting Bailey.
"I'm about to uninvite you from the wedding I haven't invited you to yet," Bailey warned him.
"No way. I'm the best man," Kyle told him.
Once they were home, Joey rushed inside to draw some party invitations. Not going in yet, Bailey took Matt by the hand and told him, "I know we're going to be so happy."
"I know it too," Matt said and pulled Bailey into his arms. "I knew we would be from the first moment I met you. I was standing on that porch and you were coming up the beach with Joey. And I knew that if I could make you mine, I would be the happiest guy in the world."
The End
