21. DANE
Miami, Florida
That evening, Justina’s album release party kicked off with a bang.
Jacoba surprised the crowd with a performance of Justina’s first single on the album.
I had to show up for Justina. Knowing how close she and Jacoba were meant I had to have Jacoba here.
Drinks were passed around, blunts were lit, and vibes were high.
Anybody who was anybody was here tonight, celebrating my fiancée.
News of our engagement broke the internet. The cinematic video of Justina running through the garden, her falling, me bending to one knee, and our guests running from the house was recorded to seal our sun-kissed moments in time.
Almost immediately, calls and messages flooded my phone and Justina’s phone. I had her phone glued to my hand, monitoring every muthafucka who sent her a message. Not a single person was about to fuck up her day.
That was how I caught a message from an unknown number sending Justina screenshots of some bullshit Shy T posted on his IG story. I knew he was blocked on Justina’s socials, but it wasn’t hard for him to have seen the video of our proposal. It was literally on every major news outlet.
He shared a snippet of the video to his story with the caption, fuckin’ for a feature is crazy.
The next story was one of the pictures I snapped of Justina standing in the garden.
His caption read, this bitch don’t even like flowers.
That message was stamped with a clown emoji.
Inwardly, I chuckled at how his stupid ass fell right into the trap.
Angelo appeared at the section, signaling that my guest was here.
I kissed Justina’s lips and slipped out of VIP, leaving her with Hannah and Lyla.
Angelo and I followed security outside the back door of the club and to a waiting Suburban.
Mekhi stood there wearing a smirk. I bumped fists with him as he opened the back door for Shy T.
Confused, Shy T climbed from the Suburban and grilled me.
“The fuck?” He reached for his gun, but I was quicker than him.
He hollered in pain as I hit him with the butt of my gun, then wrapped my hand around his throat and slammed him against the Suburban.
His forehead bled and a lump formed where I’d struck him.
While I had him hemmed up, Mekhi took his gun and broke it down with ease.
I let him go, and he grabbed his neck and coughed.
“Who the fuck you think you playin’ wit’, nigga?” I asked him.
“Fuck you, nigga! Justina ain’t tell you ‘bout me?” he countered.
“Nah. She was too busy takin’ my dick to give a fuck about you, nigga.”
He seethed, causing an amused chuckle from Angelo and Mekhi.
“Keep Justina’s name out ya mouth. If you refuse to do so, I will take every fuckin’ thing you have, including yo’ goofy ass life, nigga.”
He busted out laughing and coughing at the same time. “You think I’m scared of you, nigga? I run Miami! You won’t make it outta this bitch!”
I chuckled darkly. “Is that a threat? ‘Cause I’on take too kindly to them muhfuckas.”
“Take it how you want, nigga!” he blasted.
Glancing over my shoulder, security ducked their heads.
I was a billionaire, a man on top of the world.
Taking a life had to be necessary, not simply because a nigga threatened me.
Couldn't take a life just 'cause a nigga was salty about a woman he would never get back. Threats came a dime a dozen. Shy T wasn’t the first nigga to threaten me, and he wouldn’t be the last.
However.
Smiling, I held my hands up in surrender. “You got it, nigga,” I said.
Shy T puffed his chest out as Mekhi motioned him to get back inside the Suburban. Thinking he escaped me, he quipped, “Bitch ass—”
Abruptly, his words cut off as the other passenger door opened and a nigga I’d known for most of my adulthood slid inside the Suburban.
Carter Winters chucked his head at me as Shy T scrambled to get out of the vehicle.
Carlos Winters appeared next to me and pushed Shy T back inside the Suburban.
The driver’s door opened, and Cartierre Winters slid behind the wheel. Shy T’s eyes stretched even more.
“’Preciate ya,” Carlos said, then closed the door behind him.
The problem with niggas like Shy T was that he was too easily predictable.
He was a rapper still moving in the streets, fucking with shit he should’ve left in his past. He claimed to run the city, when his ass was running from the niggas who actually ran Miami.
He owed the Winters some money, and I was sure by morning, the city would be mourning Shy T.
I wanted the same outcome for Kady. However, I let her dumb ass off easy.
Not only was she banned from Onyx Cove Resort, but she was out of a muthafuckin’ label and contract too.
She’d fucked with the wrong person, and now her ass was ‘round here on the internet crying about how the industry fucked her over. She could feel that way because her ass wouldn’t see the inside of a recording booth until I said so.
Angelo clapped my shoulder and said, “You spoke it, now it’s here. I trust you not to fumble it.”
“Never,” I replied.
I made it back to the section, sat down, and welcomed Justina into my lap. The smile on her face was everything. Her album sounded good as fuck too. She snapped a selfie of us, then posted it. I took my ass right to IG, found her post, and made my own comments underneath it.
I bought her a bouquet, but it came wit’ the land, nigga. And a couple billion bands, my nigga. From the moment the sun kissed ya skin, I knew I was done for. @TheeMajesty_ I love you, baby. Forever.
THE END.
