Chapter 49
CALLUM
The beeps of the security system outside the door alert me to Kyra’s presence. She comes walking into the house with a huge grin on her face. Time with her friends is always good for her. I have a surprise for her. I just hope that Nyx did what I asked of her and got her a great dress.
“Hey, Sunflower.” I stand up off the couch where I was just doomscrolling on my phone and greet her with a hug and kiss.
“Hey, Babe.” She responds with an excited smile.
“Did you have a good day?” I take her shopping bags and haul them back to the bedroom.
“Yes, it was great. But I feel like you are up to something.” Her giggles tell me she is interested in whatever I have up my sleeves.
“What ever could you mean, Sunflower?”
“Nyx made me buy this dress. It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong but I am not sure what I needed it for.” She follows me into the room and grabs the dress out of the bag.
Fuck, it looks perfect, and I haven’t even seen it on her yet.
“Well, I have a surprise for you.” I give her my best smirk.
“Cal, you know I hate surprises.” She whines in the cutest possible way.
“My Sunflower,” I gently lift her eyes to mine as I stand before her. “I have to make sure you get sunshine.”
With those words, her eyes light up. There is only so much a sun lamp and tanning beds can do for her. I have watched her inner light dim as the winter has continued. As much as she was born and raised here, Kyra needs sunshine!
“Tell me more.” She gives me a timid smile.
“How does a cruise sound?” I ask her with a peck on the forehead.
“SERIOUSLY?” Kyra squeals.
“Yes, my love. I have booked us a cruise for the end of next mon-“ Before I can even finish my sentence, Kyra jumps up into my arms, and I catch her with my hands under her ass.
Her lips are on mine as soon as she knows she is safe in my arms. I could never drop her. My cock springs to life under the warmth of her core. Kyra instinctively grinds against me.
“Knock, knock.” Nyx’s voice calls from the living room.
Fucking cockblock.
Placing Kyra on her feet, we both adjust our clothes.
“Be right there, Nixie.” Her voice is full of the joy I love so much. “This isn’t over, babe.”
Kyra smirks up at me with a heat in her gaze that tells me exactly what she plans to do with me later. She leaves the room, and I reach down the front of my pants to adjust my erection.
Their giggles fill the space, and it sounds like the other members of the girl gang will be arriving shortly. Which makes me wonder if David and Jason will be on their way. Deciding to go check in with my brother, I head for the main house.
Graham, Demitri, Jason, David, and I are all lounging around in the living room. I have a perfect view from the chair I'm sitting in to the front window of the guest house. There is a giggle coming from Graham’s phone, and I just shake my head.
“Do you have the guest house camera pulled up?” David asks.
“Yup.” Graham just lets out a chuckle.
“Ya’ll, what if I just give in to David?” Molly’s drawl comes through the speaker on the phone.
Looking up at David, and he has the biggest shit-eating grin on his face. I hope for his sake that Molly finally gives in.
“What do I need to do? Go hunt down her husband?” He groans.
“Grand gestures and all that jazz.” Graham laughs.
“All she can do is say no.” I try to comfort him, but it’s not working. Forcing myself to stop playing with the ring box in my pocket, to focus on my friends.
“Is that why you have been playing with that ring box all night, Cal?” Demitri questions.
“How in the fuck?” I just stare at him.
“I carried mine around for a while before we actually proposed. Trying to feel out if I was doing the right thing.”
“And?” I can feel my eyebrows raise, just waiting for his answer.
“Well, seeing as you were at our wedding, what do you think?” Demitri just laughs.
“True. Do you guys want to see the ring I have?”
Jason jumps up from the couch like a girl who can’t wait to see her best friend's new engagement ring.
“Let me see!” We all just laugh at him. I seriously appreciate him breaking the tension that has filled the room.
Pulling the ring box out of my pocket, I glance quickly over to the window to make sure that the girls are still in the pool house.
Opening the box, a little light turns on, allowing the diamonds to sparkle.
It is a cushion-cut diamond with a halo of smaller diamonds around it, with two bands that cross each other.
The moment I saw it in the ring case, I knew that was the one.
“You did good, Little Bro.” Graham pulls me into a bro hug and slaps my back.
“When are you asking her?” Jason asks.
“On the cruise.”
“And we will have the house done and ready to move in when you are back from the cruise.” Graham gives me a goofy smile, but I know he is excited for me.
This is the start of forever.
