Chapter 782 The Gentle Purple Emperor

But he only seemed to glance casually.

The next second, he raised his head, his tone carrying a sense of gratitude:

“Thank you, Purple Emperor!”

Ye Xuanyue and Leng Moran exchanged a glance.

It was actually the Purple Emperor who had intervened?

If it was him, accomplishing such a feat was not surprising. Yet it was unexpected that the Purple Emperor would involve himself in such matters.

The one who had taken action still had not revealed himself.

Ye Xuanyue felt somewhat disappointed. She had thought the Purple Emperor would show his true appearance.

But there was only a faint, hollow voice coming from somewhere, vague and indistinct:

“Mm.”

A single syllable.

It sounded cold and detached, as if he had acted merely as an afterthought.

Ye Xuanyue raised her head and looked around.

Just moments ago there had been a storm, but in an instant, even the rain had stopped. The sun shone high in the sky, and everything appeared clear and bright again.

Ye Xuanyue stood in place, not knowing why her heart stirred slightly.

She suddenly spoke:

“Purple Emperor, are you there?”

All around was quiet.

The transformed Spirit Snake lowered its head to look at the human girl who had spoken. Ye Xuanyue had raised her voice, so even he could hear her clearly.

In truth, he had noticed these two humans during his Transformation earlier.

But since they had made no move and seemed to harbor no ill intent, he had not acted.

He looked down at the human girl below.

Who did she think she was?

How dare she call out to the Purple Emperor?

He felt somewhat indignant, and coupled with the fact that he had just successfully completed his Transformation, his hands itched for action.

Without the slightest hesitation, he reached down, and a stream of light shot downward.

His Spiritual Power was originally not weak. Although he had been in a sorry state resisting the Heavenly Thunder Tribulation earlier, that was only because the Tribulation’s power had been overwhelming.

It did not mean he lacked strength. This burst of Spiritual Power he unleashed would have injured Ye Xuanyue if it had struck her.

Ye Xuanyue was slightly stunned, realizing she had been a bit rash.

Leng Moran, beside her, frowned. He was about to block the attack, but the next second, a faint snort echoed through the air.

Immediately, the Spiritual Power dissipated before it could even reach Ye Xuanyue.

She glanced at Leng Moran.

He gently shook his head.

It was not him. He had wanted to block it, but he had not even touched that Spiritual Power.

Then that vague voice in the air sounded again:

“You should leave this place now.”

He was likely speaking to the Spirit Snake. The green-eyed man was clearly respectful, immediately lowering his head in agreement.

Without hesitation, he vanished into the sky above.

Ye Xuanyue stood motionless. So the one who had helped block for her just now… was the Purple Emperor?

She remained there. For a long time, no sound came again.

She hesitated for a moment and spoke softly:

“Purple Emperor… are you still there?”

All around was silent once more. She waited so long that she was about to leave when she discovered a faint, shimmering light slowly floating in the air. The light gradually solidified into a human form.

Because it was not a real person, the figure appeared somewhat blurred.

Then Ye Xuanyue heard the light figure opposite her speak:

“Follow me.”

Ye Xuanyue’s palms were sweaty with nervousness. She truly did not know where she had found the courage earlier to call out the Purple Emperor’s name.

But ever since she had learned of him, Ye Xuanyue had been filled with curiosity about the Purple Emperor. She very much wanted to see what this legendary, almost mythical figure was really like.

Now that she knew he was nearby, Ye Xuanyue simply did not want to give up.

The air around seemed to gradually solidify. Ye Xuanyue followed the light figure forward a few steps. Before she had walked far, she discovered a very delicate small palace hidden within the grove at the end.

Ye Xuanyue and Leng Moran exchanged a glance.

The light figure dissipated.

A voice came from within the palace:

“Do you want to come in?

Just you alone.”

The Purple Emperor’s meaning was clear...he only wanted to see Ye Xuanyue.

For some reason, she felt nervous. Her palms were damp with sweat.

This nervousness was inexplicable.

Perhaps it was because everything was unknown.

Ye Xuanyue bit her lip, then looked at Leng Moran, her gaze carrying a hint of hesitation.

The young man opposite her looked back.

To enter or not…

This decision could only be made by Ye Xuanyue herself.

A flash of clarity appeared in her eyes.

Then she spoke softly:

“Wait for me outside for a while.”

And with that, Ye Xuanyue walked in.

That such a small palace could exist in such a remote place was already peculiar. It stood some distance away from where the Spirit Snake had undergone its Transformation earlier.

This meant that the Purple Emperor had helped that Spirit Beast successfully transform into human form from far away. Later, he had even blocked the Spirit Snake’s Spiritual Power...enough to prove just how terrifying his strength was.

He could actually control everything that happened from such a distance?

Ye Xuanyue carefully walked inward, her eyes unusually bright.

A deep voice sounded beside her ear:

“Push the door open, and then come in.”

Ye Xuanyue did as told. Before her was a delicate small door. When she pushed it open and raised her head, she saw at a glance the man sitting on the high platform in the very center.

He wore a purple robe, astonishingly long. Ye Xuanyue’s vision blurred slightly, and she instinctively raised her head to see the Purple Emperor’s face clearly.

But she froze.

The man’s face was completely covered by a purple mask. The mask looked unique, its shade of purple almost the purest she had ever seen.

That purple nearly filled her entire field of vision.

She stared blankly at the figure before her, a strange feeling rising in her heart.

She could not put that feeling into words.

She could only stand there dumbly, speechless.

Then she heard the person opposite speak:

“You called for me. What did you want to do?”

Ye Xuanyue was dumbfounded, at a loss for words. After hesitating a moment, she organized her thoughts and spoke softly:

“I have heard of your name.

So… I wanted to know what you are like.”

The purple-masked man opposite seemed to chuckle lightly.

“You’ve seen… so are you satisfied now?”

His voice was not domineering.

On the contrary, it sounded somewhat gentle...not at all what Ye Xuanyue had imagined.

He looked at the girl before him, his gaze genuinely tender.

“I do not dislike humans, which is why I was willing to see you once.”

Ye Xuanyue raised her head to look at him. Suddenly she asked softly:

“Then, have you ever met a human named Nuonuo?”
