Chapter 790 Trouble Caused by the Little Phoenix
Ye Xuanyue moved further away from the bursting Earth Flame. Although she had just heard her Little Phoenix’s message, letting her know that its condition was not that bad, she could not help but worry. She stood motionless in place.
After waiting for a while, the shooting streams of light seemed endless, but then a clear cry suddenly sounded. That cry was so familiar that Ye Xuanyue’s eyes instantly lit up. She looked ahead...scorching flames were erupting all around, but she seemed to ignore them. She stared fixedly at the cave entrance.
It was impossible to tell how long she waited. The surrounding heat reached the point where her Spiritual Power Protective Barrier was almost useless...then a stream of light more brilliant than all before suddenly shot out. It was a mass of golden flames! It shot straight into the sky. Ye Xuanyue felt her eyes sting a little watching it, but she refused to lower her head.
She watched as that golden, dazzling flame surged forward...then, within the flame, a shadow gradually appeared. It was still a fiery-red Phoenix. Ye Xuanyue stood motionless, watching her own Phoenix spread its wings. In her heart, an extremely dazzling pride welled up. This was her Spirit Beast.
Leng Moran sent her a message from the side.
“It probably evolved.”
Ye Xuanyue could tell too. To cause such a huge commotion...her Little Phoenix must have made a special breakthrough. Her eyes grew a little moist. High in the Celestial Vault, the Little Phoenix let out a crisp cry, a sound that seemed able to pierce the heavens. Flames still erupted continuously all around. Amid the flames, it looked like a child of fire, the only spirit within the blaze.
Ye Xuanyue looked up at her little Spirit Beast. It gently flapped its wings, and flames swept over its body. Brilliant, dazzling...neither word was enough to describe that Phoenix. It was simply the most beautiful sight in the sky. Ye Xuanyue took a deep breath, and then a low voice suddenly sounded beside her ear.
"Is that your Spirit Beast?"
"If you don't want to invite huge trouble for yourself, put it away."
Ye Xuanyue was slightly stunned.
The voice was unclear and indistinct, yet somewhat familiar...this voice was... Purple Emperor?
Purple Emperor had actually come?
Ye Xuanyue was shocked. But given Purple Emperor's status, if he said this, he must have had a reason. She bit her lip and tried to communicate with her Little Phoenix.
After whispering a few words to it, she bit her lip again and said softly,
"No."
"It says it hasn't finished absorbing the power of the flames yet. I can't put my Spirit Beast away."
She did not see where Purple Emperor was, but she knew he could definitely hear her.
The next moment, Ye Xuanyue felt the scene before her darken slightly...and then an enormous Banner suddenly tore through the air! She recognized it instantly.
It was Purple Emperor's Dark Legion Beast Banner.
She remembered Peacock saying that this Banner's power was formidable, almost considered the top Magical Treasure in the Dark Abyss Canyon. Ye Xuanyue fixed her gaze intently on the Banner.
What was Purple Emperor going to do?
He must have been controlling it.
Ye Xuanyue did not wait long before she witnessed its power. The sky full of Floating Flame was blocked by the Banner. The surroundings darkened; the dazzling light vanished.
Purple Emperor's voice spoke again:
"I'll wait until your Spirit Beast finishes absorbing."
"But... just now, this energy already leaked out."
"Within the Beast Alliance, some beings are the most sensitive to this."
"If you want to keep your Spirit Beast safe...I'm afraid it won't be easy."
Purple Emperor was extremely sharp. He almost immediately realized the girl's Spirit Beast was a Phoenix. And not just any Phoenix, but one capable of splitting the earth...
For the current Avian Tribe, this Phoenix was something they were determined to obtain. If they ever tracked her down, her fate would be unpredictable.
Purple Emperor slightly frowned.
How had she made a Pact with a Phoenix?
Her having such a Pact was truly troublesome.
What Purple Emperor did not know was that this girl had more than one Phoenix Pact. Qian Duoduo was merely hiding her Pact relationship with her. Most of the Spirit Beasts she had bonded with could stir up immense storms.
As the saying went, with many creditors, one worried less. With so many future forces likely to come knocking, Ye Xuanyue was no longer panicked.
She raised her head. Although the Banner blocked the flames from leaking further, she looked at her Little Phoenix. The flames on its body still flowed slowly. Even from a distance, she could feel the scorching power surging from it.
A hint of anticipation flickered in Ye Xuanyue's eyes. She waited patiently. When the last wisp of flame disappeared, she finally put Jiji into the Jade Pendant Space.
She whispered a thank you.
Purple Emperor's voice remained obscure. From the Celestial Vault, something slowly drifted down.
Ye Xuanyue looked up. That object landed in her palm. She heard Purple Emperor's voice again:
"This is a replica I crafted myself of the Dark Legion Beast Banner. Its power is naturally far inferior to the original; they cannot even be compared. But it can withstand one strike at the Martial Emperor Level."
"Keep it for self-defense."
"Do not forget... the agreement between us."
"You'd better set off now."
"It's a good time to lay low."
Ye Xuanyue gripped the Banner tightly.
Her heart gave a slight jolt. If even Purple Emperor said so, then the commotion caused this time was indeed too great. She nodded.
Then that voice, along with the enormous, sky-covering Banner, vanished together. Clearly, Purple Emperor had left.
Ye Xuanyue looked around. The scene could only be described as a complete mess. She blinked.
That monkey called Feilian crawled out from somewhere. It gave Ye Xuanyue a complicated look.
The Little Monkey also looked at her. Perhaps because it was nervous, its voice became stammering.
"I..."
"I might..."
It paused, its expression revealing a hint of difficulty. But it still finished the next words.
"I might have to leave for a while."
The Little Monkey’s departure was naturally connected to the monkey beside it. Seeing its nervous appearance, Ye Xuanyue’s gaze softened.
She walked closer, reached out her hand, patted its little head, and said softly,
"Okay."
"If you need to leave, I won’t stop you."
The Little Monkey looked at her, seeming to have something to say but not knowing how. It stole a glance at the monkey beside it, then seemed to gather its courage.
Ye Xuanyue looked into its eyes. The emotion contained in that gaze felt weighty.
Then she heard the Little Monkey send her a message.
"Xuanyue... if, I mean if."
"Next time we meet, if you could form a Pact with me, I would be very happy."
Its eyes held a faint trace of hope. But the words made Ye Xuanyue’s heart melt.
The Little Monkey was truly a little fool. Yet it was the little fool in this world that made her feel the most heartache.
Ye Xuanyue stared into its bright, sparkling eyes, then nodded and gently said, "Okay." She promised it.
