Chapter 27
Twenty Seven
Ezra
With her hand snuggled in mine, I take her to another one of my favorite places. Places I’ve never shared with anyone before. Places I prefer exactly as they are: underrated and undiscovered.
I don’t know if it’s something in the air, or if it’s my lust-addled brain because of the way I came in my pants in the car earlier today as she rode me and came herself, leaving a wet spot behind. Or if it’s the crippling loneliness that threatens to swallow me whole.
Whatever the reason may be, all I know is that I feel this urgent need to share every part of me with Kaeli Reed. And I can only hope that she handles those with care.
“What would you like to have?” I ask her when we reach the food truck.
Glancing at the menu and not arriving at a conclusion, she shrugs her shoulders. “What’s good here?”
My grin spreads wide with the opening she gives me. “Oh ho ho, you’ve no idea. I’m going to rock your entire world with what we’re about to have.”
Her brow arches, wicked intentions gleaming in her eyes as she gets on her toes and whispers against the shell of my ear, “I’m sure I can think of a few other ways for you to rock my entire world, Ezra.”
My throat bobs with a loud gulp, my grasp on her hand tightening as a thrilled shudder rolls down my spine at the vision of her beneath me.
My eyes squint at her cheeky smile. “Behave, Feather,” I growl.
“I’m sure you wouldn’t want to be seen with a guy who walks around with his dick hard for everyone to see. ”
“What if I do?” She doesn’t let go and proceeds to make my life hell, dick hard, and balls blue.
I shift in my place to hide the quickly growing hard-on, as I curse, “Fucking damnit, Feather.”
Taking pity on me, she snickers, “Fine, let’s just order.”
I grab her shoulders and spin her on her feet, and push her forward toward the many chairs and tables that looked like they’d been plucked from a half a dozen different backyards and patched together into a little street-side dining room with a slap on her ass.
“Go find us a seat while I order, crazy woman.”
She leaps in surprise and walks ahead with her head thrown back in a laugh. Shaking my head at her as my face splits into a smile that feels foreign to me, I place the order and wait for it.
The moment Steven hands me two servings, I thank him, “Thanks, Steven.”
“You’re welcome, Ezra.” He leans closer as he signals at Kaeli from the corner of his monolid eyes, “By the way, it’s the first time you brought a friend here. She must be someone special, huh?”
I glance at her sitting engrossed on her phone as the light of the device illuminates her beautiful features. “She is.”
“Well, I’ll be damned.” A shit-eating grin plasters on his face.
I roll my eyes at him and head over to her. “Bye, Steven.”
His laugh follows me as he yells over my shoulder, “Enjoy!”
It causes Kaeli to look up and keep her phone aside as she asks with a smile playing on her pouty lips, “What was that about?” She glances at the truck and back at me.
“Just Steven being Steven,” I snigger good-naturedly.
“You’re on a first-name basis with the food truck driver?”
My eyes squint at her. “You sound surprised.”
She doesn’t deny. “Well, that’s because I am. I didn’t think you’d be.”
“Why?”
“You seem like a narcissistic asshole kind of guy who wouldn’t care about their server’s name.”
I look at her, perplexed, unsure of how to even reply to that. “Wow,” I drawl in a low voice. “I’m so glad that’s how you think of me,” sarcasm dripping from my every word.
My befuddled expression causes her to burst into a fit of giggles.
“Sorry…” she chortles. “I’m sorry. I’m kidding.
Not about the narcissistic asshole part though.
” She slaps the table and grabs her stomach, attracting the attention of the other patrons.
“God! Your expression should’ve been captured.
You looked like a deer caught in the headlights. ”
I know I should be offended, but all I can do is bathe in her laughter, shining upon me like the sun’s rays and parting the dark, gloomy clouds that have shrouded my life for years.
Her eyes crinkling at the corners as her face lights up at the prospect of teasing me. Her thick eyelashes adorning the apple of her rosy cheeks, and red flushing the length of her slender neck. It makes me wonder if that blush spreads somewhere else, too.
“Very funny,” I say in faux-ire, but she sees right through it.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry.” She finally composes herself and rubs her hands together, eyeing the food as her tongue darts out to wet her lips. “So, what have we got?”
Sliding her plate, I tell her. “Korean BBQ Tacos for you and Banh Mi Tacos for me.”
“Mmmm…sounds delicious.”
“It is. Dig in!”
* * *
Fifteen minutes later, Kaeli is sweating her metaphorical lady balls but shows no sign of stopping anytime soon as she chomps into her second plate of tacos.
This woman can eat, and it’s safe to say seeing her eat to her heart’s content without worrying about her weight or sullying her hands in the sauce that now drips from the corner of her lips turns me on.
I don’t think there is anything she could do that won’t give me a hard-on. But her being carefree in front of me especially does something to me.
Grabbing another large bite, she groans as she struggles to fit it in her mouth, “God! This is the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. I think I’m about to go into a food coma.”
Her sexy groan makes the junior twitch in my pants.
Down boy. Now’s not the time. Soon.
“The food’s not going anywhere, Kaeli. Eat it slowly. I’d prefer you’d rather choke on my dick rather than a taco.”
Her eyes flare at my words, and her food gets stuck in her throat as she hits her chest to swallow it.
I slide the water bottle I got earlier with another plate for her with a smirk. She narrows her eyes at me and takes a few greedy swigs of the liquid.
Finally gulping it down and eliminating any instant threat to her life, she grumbles as her shallow breath comes out in short huffs, “Do you ever not think lewd thoughts?”
Keeping my taco back in the plate and pulling out the handkerchief from my pocket, I lean across the table and wipe the sweat dripping down her face, making it glisten like she just got fucked good.
She startles at my sudden action, but doesn’t retreat or stop me.
“Around you? Nah, not really.” I shake my head and pocket the handkerchief.
“Pervert,” she huffs at me, taking another bite, but this time a small one.
I fold my hands at my chest. “Call me whatever you want, but you know you find it hot,” I dare her to deny it.
Instead, she just shrugs her shoulders mischievously as she finishes her taco.
This time, it’s she who leans across the table and steals the last of my Banh Mi Taco and stuffs it all in her mouth in one go, afraid that I’ll try and get it back.
“Hey! That was mine!” I yell with no weight behind my words, and all she does is throw her head back and laugh, chewing it down with her cheeks ballooned like a squirrel’s. “I don’t share food,” I huff.
“With me, you do,” she says as if it’s that simple. She doesn’t realize how true her words are. I’d do anything for her; all she has to do is ask. And that thought of letting someone else have that much power over me again terrifies me, so I don’t voice my agreement.
It’s as if I’m in a movie and she’s starring in it, and the time slows as she licks her fingers clean, one by one. Her tongue peeking out to swipe the sauce off her lips. Oh, how I wish it were me instead of the sauce.
Fuck! Look at me, being jealous of a damn sauce. Never did I think a woman could have me so tied up.
Clearing my thoughts before I lose all control and fuck her on this table, I get up and throw the recyclable plates in the bin. “Shall we go?”
Sliding her hands in the pockets of my hoodie she’s wearing, she comes to walk beside me. “Yes, let’s go.”
The possessive animal inside me flares in satisfaction, seeing her drowning in my clothes, letting everyone know she’s mine.
Heading to the parking lot, I open the door for her to get in the car and follow in through the driver’s side.
Today has been entirely unexpected. I don’t know what I was thinking when I texted her this morning. And I didn’t think she’d reply, let alone agree to come with me. And then the whole erotic experience before I finally showed her two of my favorite spots.
I don’t want the night to end. Not yet.
The air around us settles with the weight of the fact that the night will be over the moment I drop her home. Stealing glances at her when she’s looking out the window at the passing city, I contemplate how to broach the subject, but think better of it and let it go.
I can’t forget that she’s still the woman who loathes me and finds it as easy as breathing to ignore me. She only agreed to today because it was her job to capture some content.
She’d probably mock me if I even suggested something as absurd as spending more time together just because I want to stay in her company a little while longer.
Soon, the car rolls to a slow halt as we reach her place. Being the gentleman my mother taught me to be, I get out and walk her to her door.
Sliding the key into the lock, she twists it open and turns on her heel as she stands at the entrance, fidgeting with the key, while I keep my hands fisted and deep into my pockets lest I do something purely asinine like haul her to me and wreck her mouth.
“It’s late. You should go,” she mutters.
“Do you want me to?” The words tumble out before I can stop them, and the regret instantly has me biting my tongue.
Her breath stutters. “That would be the appropriate thing to do. I mean, what if someone found out?” Her eyes run wild across my face as her teeth nibble on her lower lip.
Of course, she doesn’t want me to stay. “Yeah, you’re right. I should go,” I agree, pointing at my car with my thumb.
“Mhmm.”
We stare into each other’s eyes, wondering if either of us would give in to the desire burning hot between us. But when neither of us makes a move, I retreat, “Right, I’ll go.”
Jogging down the steps, I slide in the car and, with one last lingering look at her swarmed form in my hoodie, I drive away.
She’s not mine, and I’d do well to remember that.
