Chapter 13 KATIE #2
“Why wait for a war?” I ask, relaxing into Aiden’s hold when his hands drop back to my legs. “Why not just use them as speed bumps? That still counts as community service, right?”
Aiden’s head falls back with a laugh. “So angry, bug.” He squeezes me tighter, causing me to giggle.
“I love it.” He finishes his tea, then slides me from his lap so he can get to his feet.
“I better make tracks, or I’ll be stuck in rush hour traffic.
” He rinses his cup and leaves it in the sink, then reaches into his pocket for his keys and turns for the door.
“Your wallet,” I call after him, grabbing it from the counter and chasing him down the hallway.
He turns with a grin and takes the wallet from my hand. “Thanks, bug,” he says, tucking it back into his pocket.
“Working late?”
Something about the look he gives me makes me pause. “I’m always working late, bug,” he grabs my hand, pulling me closer. His fingers brush the hair from my face with painfully slow gentleness. “You smell divine,” he whispers, his voice husky.
“It’s called a shower; you should try it sometime.”
Why? Why do I do this? I should not be allowed to open my mouth.
His eyes darken as he chuckles—a mix of amusement and something else I can’t quite decipher. “I should, shouldn’t I?” He leans in closer, his breath warm against my ear. “Are you offering to join me?” he asks, his lips grazing my earlobe.
I swallow hard, feeling a rush of heat spread through my body and pool between my thighs. My mind races, trying to come up with a witty response, but all I manage is a nervous laugh.
Aiden, you need to stop doing this, or I will resort to stalking you.
“No witty comebacks?” He teases, his thumb tracing my lower lip as he waits for my response. “Too busy picturing me naked?”
Well, now I am!
“I’ll be more than happy to show you. All you need to do is ask.”
“You can stop trying to wind me up,” I say, trying to regain my composure.
“Katie.”
Oh God, I can practically feel my knickers drop. Why does he have to say my name like that?
“I’m going to be deathly honest with you, bug.
You don’t seem to grasp the fact that when I say you’re fucking beautiful, I mean it with every fibre of my being.
When I say that I can’t stop thinking about you, it’s because you’ve haunted my every waking moment since the day we met.
” He clutches my jaw in his hand, forcing me to look deep into his intense, piercing eyes.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want you, Katie.
But you’re not ready for me yet. I can see the fear in your eyes and hear the hesitation in your voice.
” His fingers tangle in my hair, and he tugs back gently.
“But when the time is right, you let me know, bug.” His nose skims along my cheekbone, his warm breath sending tingles across my skin. “Not a moment before.”
“Why?” I ask, my voice barely a whisper as confusion and longing intertwine within me.
His lips brush against mine, and he whispers back, “Because the second I get between those legs is the second you become mine. And if anyone else touches you…”
“You’ll bury them?” Why am I so turned on right now?
“Bug,” he growls against my lips. “There won’t be anything left to bury.”
The look in his eyes says he’ll do it, and that should have me running for the hills, instead, my fucked-up mind is ready to jump him and call him “daddy.”
I should really seek professional help.
“Are you going to kiss me already?”
Aiden smirks and pulls me closer, his lips hovering mere centimetres from mine. “Define kiss?” He licks his lips slowly, his eyes never leaving mine. “Is it a gentle brush of lips, or is it something more intense?”
I grab his shirt collar and pull him in, crashing my lips against his.
The intensity of his response causes me to stumble backwards.
His arm shoots out, preventing me from walloping my head against the wall.
As we regain our balance, Aiden’s hands find their way to my waist, pulling me even closer.
His tongue slides over mine, exploring every crevice.
If he can fuck half as good as he can kiss, I’m in deep fucking trouble.
I snag his lip between my teeth and tug, eliciting a low growl from him.
He grabs my hair and snaps my head back, claiming me as his own.
“I’ve changed my mind,” he growls, pulling away just enough for me to see his swollen lips and scorching gaze. “You’re mine, bug, as of right now.”
“Don’t I get a say in it?” I tease, running my fingers through his hair.
“If you wanted that choice, you shouldn’t have kissed me like that.” He slams me against the wall, his body pressing against mine. “The only say you get now is how rough you want it.”
“I want to pee,” Maria calls from the threshold of the kitchen.
Balls, I forgot she was here.
Aiden turns his head slowly to look at Maria, his scorching gaze now directed at her. “Go then; we’re not stopping you.”
He doesn’t give two shits about anything, does he?
Aiden waits for her to pass and make her way up the stairs, then grabs my hand and presses it against the bulge in his pants. “Do you see what I have to go to work with now, bug?”
“My bad?” I grin against his lips as he leans in for another kiss.
Aiden chuckles, his laughter low and husky.
“Lock that door behind me.” He leads me by the hand to the front door and gives me a lingering look before stepping out into the late afternoon sunlight.
I watch him get onto his bike and start the engine, hearing it roar to life.
He looks back at me one more time and mutters something under his breath, too quiet for me to hear, before he pulls his helmet on and speeds off down the street.
It’s only after he is completely out of sight that I remember what he said.
You’re mine, bug, as of right now.
How on earth did I just end up with the biggest red flag of my life?
