2. Felix
CHAPTER TWO
FELIX
The drive from my place to Dream’s was long and tedious. Normally, I loved cruising the distance, using the time to clear my head and decompress. But this time, the longer I drove my bike toward her, the more anxious I became with each passing second.
I gripped the handlebars and tightened my thighs along the seat as the old cruiser sped a little faster.
No matter how many times I replay last night in my head, it makes no sense. How the hell did she know I was following her around?
I kept speeding, going faster.
Not once in all my years of working with Charlotte’s Web has anyone noticed me. Ever. But she did?
I sped toward the winding road, passing a few cars. The image of Dream standing in her flimsy pajamas, wearing that fucking smile, popped into my mind, nearly startling me. I tried to control myself but recalled those perky little nipples that pushed against her thin cami.
Knock it off.
I smacked the bike helmet, biting back a groan.
Most people would freak the hell out if they found some strange man standing in the middle of their living room. But not her. Not Dream. She had no fear in her eyes. No hint of worry, whatsoever. If anything, that woman seemed curious. Happy, even.
I paused.
She was happy, wasn’t she? But…why? Why was Dream so happy…to see me?
I shook the gnawing question from my head and focused on the road.
I feel like I’m going crazy.
My head ached from how exhausted I was from the lack of sleep. Thanks to work and this new obsession, my mind wouldn’t shut off, and just kept going on and on, spinning and spinning. Much like it did for the rest of the drive.
After what felt like an eternity, I finally pulled up to the curb outside Dream’s apartment, the bike rumbling beneath me as it slowed to a shallow purr. I glanced to my right, straight at her door, and it opened, my breath nearly hitching as she stepped out.
Fuck me.
I raised the visor of my helmet, revealing my eyes, and her face lit up.
Breathe, Felix.
Dream rushed down the concrete stairs, the black, cropped micro T-shirt she wore struggling to control her enormous breasts which bounced with each step.
It stopped just above her midriff, revealing a rhinestone belly button ring that caught every angle of the streetlights, sparkling as she slipped toward me.
Her hips rocked, swaying as her low rise black denim shorts, frayed all around the ends, barely left anything to my imagination. And I fucking liked it.
She stopped a couple inches from me and my bike, her smell overwhelming the air I breathed.
This woman is going to drive me crazy.
Those stunning hazel eyes shot to mine and she tilted her head slightly, looking me up and down while still smiling. “I knew it was you.” I nearly choked on the night air. “Only a stalker would know to be here at this time.” She winked.
I cleared my throat, still sitting on my bike. “I’m not a stalker…”
Dream tried to fight back a giggle. “Whatever you say.” She shuffled a bit closer. “But stalker or not, I wasn’t complaining.”
My jaw tightened at her tease.
“So…” She broke her gaze from mine and stepped back, toying with the black studded belt she wore over her jean shorts.
I noticed she was wearing a pair of black fishnets over her long, pale legs, and even had a matching pair of black chunky boots, complete with hanging chains and buckles.
“Are you ready for our date?” she asked, her dark, glossy lips raised as she plucked a single stray hair from her face with her long nail, tucking it behind her pierced ear.
I nodded, patting the seat behind me. Dream raised a brow and shook her head.
“Sorry, big boy, but considering I planned everything out for tonight, that means I’m in charge.
” With a grin, she walked over and hit the kill switch, shutting the bike off.
“Which also means we're walking.” She reached out and gripped my arm, pulling me from the bike.
I quickly pushed the kickstand out and hopped off, taken aback by how strong she was. “Leave the helmet,” she sighed.
I stopped, her grip now securely holding my hand as I stood there and hesitated.
Usually, I wore a mask of some kind to hide my face.
It was a habit I also formed while still in the service, but ever since joining Charlotte’s Web, I continued to hide everything about me.
It was the only way to stay hidden from Kief and to protect my younger siblings from the mess with Northern Lights.
So to hear her asking me to go barefaced in public was a bit nerve-wrecking.
Dream watched me closely, noticing my reluctance and the change in my demeanor.
She took a step forward and slowly approached me, dropping my hand as she raised her arms and took my helmet between her hands.
“Don’t worry,” she whispered. “You have no reason to be afraid. I don’t bite…
hard.” She then gently raised it from my head.
I kept my eyes on her, watching her reaction while my messy black hair fell around my face.
Her eyes widened ever so lightly as a faint sparkle flickered from deep within them.
Her cheeks flushed to a dawn-kissed shade as her mouth gapped and she let out a breathless gasp, one that almost resembled a moan.
My entire body tensed at the sound and I could feel my dick flick in reaction to it all.
Control yourself.
I tried to breathe through how she was making me feel, but she was no help…she stepped closer, her smell taking me prisoner, her eyes locked on me as if I was the prey. She had no fear and all the confidence in the world, and it was driving me fucking insane.
“I knew it,” she whispered, smiling.
I blinked, still on edge and fighting back my inconvenient boner. “Knew what?”
Dream grinned. “That eyes like those could only belong to a face like that.” She paused. “Who would’ve thought my stalker would make such yummy eye candy.”
I tried not to smile at her flirty compliment, so taken aback by the fact I just revealed my face to her…something I never did lightly.
She took my hand again and tugged me with her as she half sprinted down the street.
“Come on, pretty boy, we got a date.” I was too wrapped up in the moment and enjoying the way she took lead to even care.
I couldn’t even argue about where we were going.
I just stared at the woman in front of me as she dragged me behind her and walked me like a dog.
Hell, at this moment I’d probably bark if she asked me to.
We’ve barely spoken and this woman has seen my face and got me tripping over my own feet.
“Hurry up, stalker!” she shouted excitedly. “We don’t want to be late!”
Without any thought or reason, a weird impulse took control and I found myself carefully lifting her up with one hand, holding her close to my chest. She squealed and giggled as I did so, wrapping her arms around my neck, completely filled with joy.
“Just tell me which way to go and I’ll make sure we get there fast,” I stated.
Dream sat up a little and ran her nails through my hair, twisting a few strands as she pointed ahead with her other arm.
“That way!” I picked up my stride and walked in the direction she pointed, following her lead as she guided me around for a few blocks before stopping in front of a building with blacked-out windows.
Some of them were even covered in a flimsy tarp as if to protect it.
It was tall, with numerous floors, and all the windows were either blacked out or covered in a flimsy tarp, as if to protect it. There were no lights or signs of people inside. No way to tell what the hell this place even was.
“Umm…” I looked up at the strange and ominous structure, unsure if she’d led me to the right place. “You sure this is the place?” A heavy bass could be felt coming from deep within the building, reminding me of The Red Eye.
Dream wiggled down my body and popped to her feet, adjusting her clothes.
“Yup!” She took my hand again and dragged me around to the back of the building to a basement entrance.
A rat squeaked as it scuttled by, the music growing louder as we inched closer.
“Come on!” With reluctance, I followed behind and hurried down the wet, dirty steps.
The fluorescent streetlight flickered as she swung the graffiti-covered door open and pulled me inside.
The music from outside was substantially louder once we were inside, and I was convinced it had to be some kind of nightclub, though, it was pretty desolate inside.
A few random beaten-up pieces of furniture were staged around a full concrete room, and every surface of the floor, ceiling, and walls were covered in paint and graffiti.
Sitting right smack in the middle of this strange urban hole in the wall, was a single desk with the words “Rage Play” colorfully sprayed across the wall behind it, glowing under a hovering blacklight.
The employee behind the front desk was too busy filing her long pierced nails while bobbing her head to the thumping music to even notice us.
What the hell is this place?
Dream released my hand and skipped toward the desk, tapping her nails against the surface. “Excuse me,” she sang.
The employee rolled her eyes, dramatically groaned, then tossed her head to the side before finally acknowledging us. “Oh, hey, Danika. Long time no see.” Her dull eyes shot to me before returning to Dream. “How many?” she asked in a low, bored monotone voice.
Dream held up her fingers in a peace sign. “Two, please!” She glanced at me with a devious smile then turned to face the employee. “All access.”
Why do those two words make me nervous?
The employee tapped away at her keyboard, speaking to Dream. “Any special occasion?”
